Powerplay The great un-pledged...

Okay, I'll keep this brief. I couldn't understand at all what point you were making. This is indeed a forum, but there's no point in posting messages on it if they are unintelligible.

and there is no point posting about english and gramma and if you find a sentence unintelligible because i missed out 2 full stops then i question your intelligence i can put them there but i refuse to in something as unimportant as a game forum i didnt ask you to read it and it seems your incapable of doing so without puntunation did you know that 99% of wartime messages in ww2 were sent without punctuation how did we ever win that war? " sorry general i failed to react to your message because there wasnt any full stops " the reason they did this was time management and the large amount of messages to be sent

So we can post about spelling then? :D

Not interested in PP

Like to do my own thing and go where i want when i want sorta like Hansolo, an independent contractor as such

Would you even like to comment on the responses that several of us made to your original post after making more effort decyphering it than you made posting it?

frankly your pandering to the unimaginative you know the ones who are happy to be the grey man in the background who complain they are bored but never take part th etype that would stay in their ordinary job even if they won 90 million on the lottery form me its a couple of days minimal effort which adds another 5million to many credits every thursday and this thursday a new weapon which i sure the great unimaginative will complain about when i use it

Could we keep this hitherto delightfully concise thread on point please.
It's not a place to discus imagination, intelligence (or lack of), spelling, font colour or your grandmas ;)

It is a place to state...

Why you have not pledged to a power yet.
If you have changed where you base yourself?
If you are finding any new benefits from Power Play as one of the great un-pledged?

Piggy please?

I have a degree in Linguistics so I am definitely not going to get into the punctuation debate!

To get back to the point: I tried PP for 2 days in the beta, unpledged and have virtually ignored it ever since. I am more interested in the background simulation we already have, the three major factions and the minor factions local to the area of space I spend most of my time in. My rep with them is more important to me and, as far as I can tell, has been totally unaffected by anything happening in the PP "universe". (Haven't even looked at the PP map, the coloured "bubbles" just have no relevance.)

I am an Alliance supporter so not interested in joining an Imperial or Fed power. Even joining an independent would make me hostile with others in Alliance space, including Mahon supporters! (Small rant: only one Alliance option in PP! FD undervaluing the Alliance again. Small rant over)

The complete disconnect between PP and the rest of the faction-based background leaves me cold and until that changes I can't get up any enthusiasm to take part. I shall continue to do CGs, a little bounty-hunting, trading, perhaps some mining, a few missions and CZs to help overturn Alliance opponents. All of this without needing to refer to PP in any way.

IF FD really want everyone to be involved in PP there are going to have to be some major changes before I'll consider it!

Why do you keep talking about English as if that is the only language that uses punctuation (full stops are punctuation, nobody mentioned grammar)?
Don't post nonsense on a forum and then expect people to pretend they can understand you. Also, if one person can't understand you, maybe you can question their intelligence. If two people don’t understand you maybe you can questions their intelligence. But if nobody can understand you, maybe it’s your own fault.

This is going off topic. Does anyone know what percentage of the active players are pledged? Most CMDR’s I see are not but it could be something to do with where I am based. I assume only FD know this but I’d love to see the data.

CMDR! Have YOU not pledged to a power... still?

Please briefly state why in this thread.

Because Powerplay sucks.

Have you changed where you base yourself now?

No.

are you finding any new benefits from Power Play as one of the great un-pledged?

No.

Also, could you please stop using that pink colour, it's very hard to read on a light theme and better to stick to the defaults (it's what they're there for!) I know some people like to exert a "look at me, I'm a quirky individual" with fonts and colours on this forum, from time to time, but it really only makes them stand out as being a bit inconsiderate (IMHO).

On that point, is there actually any point in the 'major factions' since PP? Besides broken ranking for rank specific ships, what's the pint of these powers anymore? do they add anything to the game. In PP you pick a mid tier power and you get 'Empire on Empire' violence.

and the same FEW players that are the gramma/english mafia does not constitute anybody or everybody so please get real

Thank you Micky, though could you please restrict your comments to our subject matter here of reasons for not pledging to Power Play.

If I were to pledge, it would be to The Pilots' Federation (ESPECIALLY if they could set up a formal way to mentor new Commanders!). Failing that, I will pledge to "Hell Razors' Mentoring Agency"! (I know, unashamed plug!).

I've pledged but only because I'm not really playing at the moment. So I just have the client running whilst working and get my 25 merits every 30 minutes till I've got 200 and then when I get 20 minutes spare transport them to the nearest system I can drop them to in order to keep myself above 1500, thus getting 5mill per week whilst I'm not really playing. Once work quietens down and I get to play again for decent chunks of time I'll definitely un-pledge.

I'm entirely Federation based. What connection to the President I felt when I pledged has completely vanished now due to lack of anything engaging me with him and I don't really care about any of the other powers either, for the same reason. Quite looking forward to completely ignoring PP in a few weeks when I un-pledge.

I pledged to Sirius Corp, and then un-pledged almost immediately due to there still being no game mechanic to transport your ships.

I have all my ships docked at Founders World. To get the right ships for the right job, I realised I'd spend a huge amount of time just shunting my ships around.

Plus having my gameplay locked to a specific area in space just didn't appeal v much at all.

I haven't pledged because I really can't be bothered to try and understand the whole thing - I don't care about these people in power, and don't fancy the grind then if you miss a week, see your reputation (whatever that is) decay.
I worry that this is a huge and complicated bolt-on created by a fan of the RISK board game (Michael?) - and really should have been the foundation of the galaxy not a bag on the side.
I am happy just bimbling around the galaxy in my FDL being a (not very good) pirate one day, bounty hunter the next, and mission hero when I feel like it.
