Powerplay The great un-pledged...

Do not play enough to make it worth it. And none of the powers offering anything interesting or a point of view I agree with.

Lots of grinders in this thread I see. I dont know why you grind, but take a step back and look at things like a game. PP gives things reason. There are foes and friends, easily identified. Its a great multiplayer experience. I am rank 4, and that means 5 mill creds pr week as bonus for something that takes an hour to maintain. Plus great experiences in space. And no - you are NOT restricted to any place. You are hostile to the power but NOT to the system major/minor faction. You still need to commit a crime to become Wanted.

- Pledged, found out that it is just another grind to progress.

- Went to another system that was controlled by another power, got attacked, found out it is just another reason for NPC's to attack. Now not only do you have to deal with getting interdicted by pirates, you also have to deal with this.

- After experiencing the first two I unpledged since I want to be able to just go where I want without getting harassed all the time and I do not need another reason in this game to just grind away at something.

That is off-topic though a considered and refreshing perspective, thank you anyway CMDR.

Its more on topic that you might think!
.
Noticable complaints in this thread:
1) The grind - even though people do it to themselves they think its imposed by the game. Game != work.
2) Hostility - it would appear that some people think hostile = wanted. Its not. Most of the time it doesnt mean which in turn is bad for PP. But anyway.

Thank you Micky, though could you please restrict your comments to our subject matter here of reasons for not pledging to Power Play.

if you read my earlier post i did then the english mafia decided their are to stupid to read english without full stops you can go and check maybe its because my original post described them to a tee

Not pledged as PP is of no interest to me whatsoever......As a previous poster stated, Likewise I spend more time browsing the forums than in-game............The majority of people I have conversed with regarding PP feel the same to some degree. If THAT isn't an indicator of PP's failure I dont know what is?

Not pledged. No intention to do so because i have no interest in anything other than a trading and combat spaceflight simulator. Also I find the PP characters irritating and very visually unappealing. They look like some female child's game avatars.

Calling people stupid is uncalled for. The reason people like punctuation is because it changes the meaning of a sentence. Failing to add punctuation can cause written language to become ambiguous or more difficult to parse. Whilst some people don't approach the subject of correct usage of written language very well, they do generally have a point. However, they could usually phrase it better.

I have not Pledged
Seems useful for my Group, nominally pledged to Patreus, to have a few unaligned commanders.
I can still provide support to my power play aligned Wingmen
Plus personally I like to still be able to have free travel and take advantage of the various market effect the PP Power provide.

I like that Power Play exisits as it provides an additional background to what I am going.

So does being marked as hostile actually mean anything at all then, if you're just going to be treated the same as someone who isn't?

It means people can shoot at you legally, but you can't shoot back (correct me if I'm wrong here as I never pledged).

CMDR! Have YOU not pledged to a power... still?

Please briefly state why in this thread.

Have you changed where you base yourself now?

And, if you don't mind...

are you finding any new benefits from Power Play as one of the great un-pledged?

With thanks CMDRs.

I purchased Elite to play Elite. That is all.

Please briefly state why in this thread.

I'm not interested in gang wars between some sub-powers. I want to be able to fly around the galaxy without getting bothered by internal politics. I prefer to read about in in GalNet.

Have you changed where you base yourself now?

No, I would have to if I pledge to a power. I like my little systems and their minor factions.

I might buy a few discounted modules or something like that at some point in the future, but otherwise I see no real benefits for me.

Not pledged at all. I can't see any reason to. There are none or little benefits and it makes no difference to the universe whether 1 power is doing better than the other, nothing really changes.

You're not missing much...it's all bugged anyway...the way to beat factions in the bottom three positions is to let them expand. Fun for those who haven't got the guts to join a football firm and like a bit of a virtual gang fight though.

Yeah, that's its main purpose, for us 'un-pledged'; to provide additional background info.
