Patch Notes Update The Guardians Update: 2.2.01

I suspect the sudden drop in availability and prices for cargo missions may have been unintentional, and revealed a fundamental problem with the BGS. Otherwise they could have it fixed in a day.

All economies, even socialist, depend on the movement of capital. When a large number of players decide to start taking passenger missions, the flow of cargo drops. But the demand is still there so either the local economies tank, or they have to raise prices for the cargo missions to compensate. Instead, prices dropped. If Fdev fixes this, then they have to worry about over-inflation. Then they'd have to raise the prices on ships and modules. Fixing the BGS to avoid wild swings in prices, and still have some realistic effects on local economies, might not be that easy.

Yes, this would explain a lot. Because they added a vast number of passenger missions promissing millions, they potentially (although these missions won't be popular, taking several hours at least) over-inflated the market... Although if this is the case, they should have seen that coming...

Am I missing where they said they fixed the issue with aborting missions not being removed? Since that's a game breaking issue that literally everyone is complaining about.

How does that break the game? I don't often abort missions so I haven't experienced it. Have you searched the bug report section?

Signed up here hoping to find if there was a patch in the works for any of the show-stopping bugs All the people I know who play this game, including me, wound up stopping till we saw word of some kind of patch, but I haven't seen any indication. Does anyone know what's going on?

I'm in pretty much the same position. I am frustrated that the current level of mission payouts mean that I cannot earn reasonable money whilst ranking up with the major factions. In order to gain access to the rank-locked ships and systems I have to forgo making enough money to actually buy and equip those vessels. My progress through the game is slowed substantially.

I know I could try mining, or passenger missions, or do more combat. But I'm not able to play "my way". I also rankle at the relative unfairness this situation has created. It'll take me so much longer to progress than it took players before this update. I never used Sothis/Ceos by the way: poop-trucking held no appeal and made little sense.

I log in occasionally to see if there's been any change, but I don't have the time for a snail's pace grind.

Yea the already barbaric grind has only gotten worse in 2.2. Not everyone has the luxury of time to sit on the game 12+ hours a day to grind rep/money for months on end. What little slices of grind heaven we had before 2.2 are all but gone. On top of that, many of the passenger missions are bugged, missions in general now have a tendancy to disspear entirely at the mission location, or in route to. Most of the decent charity mission spots like Draconis have been nerfed out of existence, which makes no sense. If X player put in X time to make X money, they should be able to use those hard earned credits to "power level" in a sense their rep. Mission stacking via instance hopping is all but gone. What little and small things we find to lessen the barbaric grind just a tad, just get nerfed out of existence or bugged into frustration. I understand fully the Sothis/Ceos nerf, but damn. Get it toghether FD....

Si I got a reply from a frontier CMDR using FB messenger. Excerpt below.

"Thanks for the feedback. While your thoughts are certainly appreciated, the Support team has little solid information to give as the majority of your concerns are related to design choices. The best place to ask these questions is on the Feedback forum"

As you can see, seems the choice to not communicate comes from, "apparently" a lack of information. In the message, I had asked about the mission payouts, the plethora of bugs and a lack of communication. At least we know they are working on it. Methinks that they broke the missions system and are panicking. To me, there's no other reason for the lack of announcements.

Hmm, we tried to adjust sothis/ceos mission pay outs, but it appears all delivery mission pay one tenth of normal..
Fd dev 2
Yikes, I have no clue what would cause that. But they have passenger missions now and they seem unaffected.

Let's go back to work on planet coaster.
Fd dev 1
Yeah they can just do passenger missions."

unlikely, but a possibility. 2.2 gets released, i stop playing simples. so have a lot of others. It is broken, bust, despite the left wing bunnies refusing to accept it is. listen here - 'it is!'

but, the paradox.

We have faith in ED to fix. They always do. Let's have faith in them once again.

Be a little bit more patient, commanders, 2.2 has just been released. It takes time to collect the bugs, analyze them, fix them, test them and create patches for both platforms. Frontier will fix most if not all bugs as they always do.

I am being patient. However, I'm also not currently playing, which is probably unideal. Trade missions were my go-to thing. (Not ceos/sothis or any of that stuff, just regular trade missions). But now you barely make fuel money for them, it's literally not worth doing it. I figured passenger missions would be the saving grace, but apparently you can get destroyed at random regardless of if the roster says that the passengers are illegal, so they are currently not worth the risk. Also, if you take one and find that it's bugged and abandon it, then the number of other missions that you can take permanently decreases, so there's that.

Actually, I'm looking forward to Planet Coaster. Just, when it comes out, don't want them to patch it and Elite at the same time... otherwise both would be broke and I'd have to go and do something useful with my life while waiting for them both to be fixed! And I'm way too lazy to bother...
