Horizons The Imperial Cutter

She is not good enogh to deal with those damm Vultures. Oh so use the fighter. So me or my Pilot do just that. But cutter needs some weapons on the class 2 points to deal with the smaller ships sniping at it.

All-Efficient-Burst or All-Overcharged-Multis for npc slaughtering. When attacked by a Vulture boost 1x for distance, when back into blue another boost+fa-off for turning around. The rest ist full-reverski mode at a distance of 1-1.5 km whilst melting about everything.

The Cutter is huge. Fly it like a moon and you'll succeed.

And enjoying absolutely nothing.

Reverski is the quickest way to get bored of combat.

Where can I sign on that?

I just thought this was about efficiency not fun. The only Cutter that has ever been fun to me was (and still is) my all-cannon-monster for very short fight durations on NPC ;-)

Interesting.

Now that is something to also think about. I see now that others have worked on tactics to use these Cutters.

Yes but the Experimenting is now Fun. I thought I had done most of that with Anaconda, time to take a different approach.

Are you playing in open or solo play?
I am mainly solo so take my advice as such.
Knowing how slow this thing turns, I employ a single Fighter bay. (My NPC pilot drives the Gelid F Imperial fighter and I have leveled him from harmless to competent).

Using the ship for mostly trading and missions, I find when I am attacked, that deploying the fighter and getting him to attack makes an enemy turn toward him some allowing me time to come about for the fight. When we are attacked by anything smaller than a Vulture or Gunship, the NPC Pilot often kills them before I can complete the Kill Warrant Scan.

It is really worth it to make room for a fighter bay on any ship that can carry one.

The Cutter would be cool if it unlocked Empire Transport missions, where you are paid a significant amount of money to transport Empire VIP's

I added a 5A Prismatic shield to my Cutter, with some shield boosters, I have over 1000 MJ of shield! and 752 cargo! If you roll for secondaries, you can get a bonus to optimized mass, and if is over 9% or so bonus, it can be fitted to a Cutter. There is a whole thread about it...

So my shields are powerful enough for me to escape most interdictions without any problems.... having a ship that goes fast in line help when charging the FSD...

Yea can not disagree. But I am a bit of a protection Nut so loosing the 8A shield for me is not an option. But even then with the vett I can make over 100 mil cr in a morning so trading is not the goal anymore. Maybe I have the game with the cutter Wrong.

There's shield boosters and engineering for that. My Cutter with class 5 prismatics and carefully chosen boosters has more shielding than my battle Corvette with class 7 biweaves and equally carefully chosen boosters.

Cutter is one of those ships either you use as a clutch or you override its disadvantage by mastering flight assist off and modding it properly.

Pro Tip #491: Try the Big Ships first in a Beta .... that way you will know if it's worth grinding for them in the main game.

I'm the other way around. Sold the anaconda and my corvette is collecting dust in the storage hangar. But I use my cutter 98% of the time anyways. I enjoyed flying the pmdg heavies in FSX for years, so if you get used to flying around like an airliner, the cutter continues with that feel. As for combat, as mentioned in this thread there are ways to maneuver the cutter and it's also a great rammer. Also engr'd turret and long distance weapons can help.
