Change HUD color?

So, I'm new to this version, but I played the heck out of Elite on my Apple //e. I kind of miss the soothing green glow of my monochrome monitor, and I'm not that fond of the orange HUD we have now. Is there a way to change the color to my electric green?

Since I can't seem to edit my posts yet (and there's a post count to beat) I will add that I did use the search feature, but it came up with a whole lot of posts that didn't seem to fit what I was looking for. Especially not the post that Derpster linked to.

I used Google, first hit.

You can change the settings (ini) file but beware that the colour of your ships in the scanner will also change so friendlies might show up as red and baddies as green etc... learn your new colours and pay special attention when you use that tool as to what they will be... very important.

I'm personally waiting until they implement it in the game for real (that's IF they implement it too)

You might wanna try this or something similar:

<MatrixRed> -1, 1, -1 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> -1, 1, 1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0, -0.3, 0 </MatrixBlue>

This is nice and soothing :)

<MatrixRed> 0, 0, 0 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 0, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0, 0, 0 </MatrixBlue>

Hud Color idea

i know a lot of people want to change the color of the hud, and i know this can be done through changing a configuration file. tho my idea is to have more then just different colors but different styles as well, being part of the game extras shop.

Default System color coding?

Tried looking around for this but not sure what the answer is. What's the meaning of the default system colors on the galaxy map? They seem to be mostly red, with some purple, blue, or light green around iirc.

Only been playing a few days now and still checking out various activities. Killed a couple 1 on 1 pirates who interdicted me, made a few credits with incredibly small 4 cargo hauls, heh... Been doing some exploring and kind of want to get into that some more, so I think I've been heading away from civilized space... is there a good way to see where space stations are on the galaxy map? I almost ran out of fuel because I was jumping blind but luckily my last stop had people in it.

Saved up ~120k credits. I'm guessing I need to reach the 400k or so range to get a decent ship plus the enhanced scanner thing.

when your in your galaxy map these colors indicate what type of economy that system has you can check what the colors mean on the last tab and do any filtering you want from there.

I think that s what your after

If you want a good starting explorer ether go viper at 100k or cobra at 250k with about 60k extra for outfiting.

Bounty hunting a RES sights can net you some quick cash. just watch out for the big ships.

Never let an Anaconda or Python point its nose at you.

When you have the map in 'realistic' mode, the colours (and sizes) represent the differing colours of the mains stars of the systems. When you have it in 'map' mode there is a key on the left telling you what the colours represent, depending on which criteria you have selected and any filters you have applied.

Sorry I should have done this in the OP.

I don't have any filters or sorting or trade routes shown. All I've done is turn the names off for the screenshot. What's the default color coding of these systems show?

Every time I have tried to reply it says it needs moderator approval... wth.

It's in 'map' mode but there aren't any filters selected. It's not checked to display by size, color, etc. and trade routes are off. The area is like 98% "red" systems with an occasional blue, green, or purple that I have seen
