Worst part of this is: you can't have red "wanted" text, since it is connected with something else, and not individually set.
Had myself bountied because i couldn't distinguish between a lighter shade of blue and a darker one(for a brief moment)...

It's not really possible to make things normally red, stay red when modifying the huds colors as a whole. You also have to remember that modifying your HUD colors also affects station UI and fitting windows and if you manage to get red coloring in the main UI along with whatever color choice you want... Odds are it is going to come at a cost in terms of being able to read the fitting screen and station UIs.

My hud coloring was picked with the sole purpose of getting purple for my in flight primary HUD, while receiving the absolute minimum impact on other aspects of the game. If they hadn't of removed the galaxy maps pass through this shader system... (THANK YOU FRONTIER!) then you'd find that my HUD colors even minimize the effects on that screen too.

As far as hostile targets are concerned if you look at my post with screenshots you will see the brackets around the ship in space are still very much red as they are not passed through the filter that we are modifying. As such, I find it very difficult to see anyone getting accidental bounties with a modified hud color unless they are color blind in the first place... Or simply not observant (sorry, no offense is meant there.)

On my HUD coloring, hostile targets are significantly darker than all other radar contacts making them easily distinguishable for me. Friendly targets are still very much green. You run into severe problems with this if you decide to recolor your shields indicator and take them out of the blue spectrum... This is the only reason I'm not running pimped out gold shield HUD as it completely ruins all other aspects of the UI.

Yes... I've spent way too many hours configuring my HUD color to learn all of this.

Sweet, i missed that yours then.
The code i used had the blue but slightly lighter but it made almost everything blue and the friendlies red i believe.

Yeah that is one problem :/
Sadly there is no way around that because you can only change the balance between the colours so since the normal interface is almost all orange to make that blue it also pulls the red.

I really need to try changing the color of my HUD at some point. I'm still using the default orange color.

What colours do the radar contacts go with this? But really nice!

heh its always the same, love the new look of the hud but the enemies/friendlies always change with them and ruin it. This is always my first question also and would love a reply from the OP to what they become.

Being honest - not seen yet!

Used http://arkku.com/elite/hud_editor/. Tinkered to make each color section/element unique..

..so enemies gonna be *a* different colour. Dunno which tho *yet* :D

For dems interested, values be:

<MatrixRed> 0, 0.46, 0 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixBlue>

Run di road!

Even when you use Silent Running and can not acquire a Target Lock, isn't there still an orange [ ] appear around it when in range of projectiles or something? Or is that when they use chaff?

Changing UI color?

So i just tried to change my UI color to one I was using a few months ago by just throwing that config file into the directory. Now everything is blurry...like so blurry and washed out it looks like my pilot suddenly came down with cataracts. Did somethings change in the graphicsconfig file?

I've actually been wanting to share my HUD for awhile now. It's a lavender with a tealish station UI. Friendlies are green. Hostiles are a dark purple that is easily identifiable. Wakes are a light blue and wing members are unmistakable (no wing in the screenshots). It took me many hours to get the color combinations right so that the outfitting, station UI and primary HUD were all usable, easy on the eyes and purple.

In-Flight Interfaces

Station Interfaces

Code:
<MatrixRed> 0.4, 0.1, 0.5 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> -0.25, 0.15, 0.7 </MatrixBlue>

Just wanted to extend my personal thanks for this particular scheme. I have been using it exclusively for a couple of months now (having swapped over from my Imperial cyan no less!).

My Fav so far...

<MatrixRed> 0.01, 0.25, 1 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 0.96, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.5, 0.42, 1 </MatrixBlue>

Looks like:
