Cool. Well, it happened to me again; so, I am now avoiding that system entirely. Ngaliba is on my shizzle list until I can get back into a fighter. hehe.

Ngaliba might be particularly deadly too, if you read the flavour text on the galaxy map. Not sure if they do that or not but yeah, anarchy systems are basically guaranteed to get you attacked.

Pirate groups do send out hit men after you if you have been bh their members.
If he gave you a 'give me your cargo' message, then he was pirating badly. If he opened with a 'you are toast' message, then he was a hit man

Yes, it's usually just as hard to keep the interdiction attempt going as it is to avoid it. I do a lot of bounty hunting and while they are trying to keep the escape vector in the crosshairs, I'm trying to keep them in my crosshairs.

And FYI ships interdicting you can also take damage when the tether is established (interdiction is successful). I'm not sure if it's from the last update but the last few days my Eagle has flopped around wildly after interdicting someone and I've taken 2% damage or more. I haven't quite worked out the mechanics yet because interdictions CAN fail of course, but I think how smoothly you do it affects how much damage you take.

All in all, like many people, when I am interdicted by someone else, I always submit instantly because I want to shoot them in the face, as someone above said. Of course, I also want it over quick so I can just run if it's too much to handle in my little fragile Eagle.

Edit: I think it is a little bit harder to avoid an interdiction because the escape vector target is closer than the target ship is to the person trying to pull someone out of frameshift. It's a field of view difference.

That sounds pretty awesome. Thank you for giving me a quick explanation on it.

I hope you have good fortune with your hunting, and that you are successful more than not.

Have fun, and happy gaming.

Razar.

Noob with nothing FSD Interdiction all day long!!!!!!

Why, Why, Do I keep getting FSD Interdicted? I'm in a sidewinder with nothing. I was under the impersonation that Solo was solo obviously not. I get interdicted all the time with nothing and if I don't manage to escape they blow me up. These are obviously advanced players looking at there ships and the fact that they have a FSD interdict-er. It's not costing me much because I only have an upgraded FSD drive. Lately I've been auto destructing if they fire on me. Question: If you do have cargo and self destruct does that destroy your cargo too? This seems to be some kind of micro phallus problem on the part of these commanders... Judging by the size of there ships.

I hate to be the one to point this out to you, but you are not being interdicted by players in solo, they are NPCs. You can tell because players have a hollow icon on the scanner.

Thank you...

Thanks, I guess It confused me. With the names of the commanders and the ships. Your ship was destroyed by Chad White stuff like that.. Still doesn't explain why with no warrant or cargo and I stop. They start shooting me. Is this like a in game dog fight scenario? I have no Idea how you would get away from theses NPC they take no damage from a basic sidewinder. I guess your just dead unless you have a better ship. thanks again,

You may also have to repair the wear and tear on your ship, because the more worn your ship looks, the more of a target it is for all kinds of shifty types.

Don't try to run from interdiction, put throttle to zero and just let yourself be interdicetd...why ? Well you frameshift drive takes ages to cool down if you get nailed trying to escape, but if you give in, the drive takes moments to cool and you can be on your merry way in one piece :)

More of a microcomputer phallus, what with them being AI controlled. ;)

Even in solo, piracy is an occasional fact of life in Elite. A stock sidewinder is pretty fast, with a power distributor upgraded to 'D', you can boost and get away from pretty much anything the game is going to throw at you NPC wise. Boost, weave, go silent (watch your heat), until your FSD comes up. and then take off.

In the System Map, check the SECURITY level. You may need to move the "cursor" off the main star in order to reveal all the system-specific information.

You won't typically be bothered in HIGH security systems. LOW security systems aren't as welcoming. :)

Also, if the "Government" type is ANARCHY, I recommend you get the hell out of Dodge as fast as possible. Anarchy systems have very high rates of hostile interdiction.

Classy interdictions - one of my favourite parts of the game

On my way to George Lucas station in Leesti a little earlier today and I got interdicted by Cmdr Kakkakia in a very nice FDL. I fly a Cobra Mk3 so I knew the game was up!

I was hailed promptly:

CMDR. STOP your engines for SCAN or I will SHOOT to KILL!
If you have a C.O.D.E let me know.

While I was stopped and being scanned I got a decent look at the FDL nice and close and I enjoyed the quiet sense of terror that this guy might blow me out of the sky when he discovered that I had no cargo to speak of.

A few seconds later I was hailed again.

You can leave Cmdr.

The sense of relief was palpable. I got up to speed and jumped out of there before he could change his mind. To me this is what Elite: Dangerous is all about. I can't wait to earn my way to an FDL, perhaps then I'll be in a better negotiating position! It also made me think that I need to hook up in a wing so that I have access to back up in future.

Gosh, I was almost tempted to run to see which would win out, my FSD or his lasers. I think we all know I would have been toast, but it's so much fun!

Anyone else want to share a classy interdiction experience?

I got interdicted by a CMDR yesterday for the first time. I was in a badly damaged Viper, on my way to the station, and a Master rank Imperial Clipper CMDR interdicts me. In retrospect I should have read the text chat as he said that I should stay put and cooperate, whereas I just dashed straight out of there- figured nothing can outrun a Viper, right? Well wrong, I guess, but maybe it was the damaged thrusters.

Anyway, the guy strips my hull down to 0%, broken canopy and all. I'll admit I snapped and sent a harsh word over. Well, two. :)

After which he says "Bring cargo next time." and leaves. I reckon he did not realize that I could reboot my system to regain thruster functionality and figured he'd left me stranded, so I somehow survived and kept my bounty vouchers.

It was a bitter-sweet experience though, as I usually dominate NPC Imperial Clippers but this guy just had me by the jimmies.

If he was a combat player, he probably knew.

He may not have known you knew though ;)
