Got interdicted yesterday, by a CMDR in a Clipper, in 39 Tauri. "Stop, prepare for scan", etc. Ended up trading a load of rares I'd earmarked for sale in 39 Tauri, for a load of Tauri Chimes he'd already pirated from someone else. All very civil, but he did leave me with a load of moody rares I then had to smuggle through about half a dozen stations before I could get shot of them for a profit. Still, was all good fun, and spiced up my rares circuit a treat! I don't mind dealing with pirates, gives me a bit of an adrenaline rush, and livens up the game a treat!

Doesn't stop me noting down their names so I can look them up when I have a better ship mind...

I got interdicted by a CMDR yesterday for the first time. I was in a badly damaged Viper, on my way to the station, and a Master rank Imperial Clipper CMDR interdicts me. In retrospect I should have read the text chat as he said that I should stay put and cooperate, whereas I just dashed straight out of there- figured nothing can outrun a Viper, right? Well wrong, I guess, but maybe it was the damaged thrusters.

Anyway, the guy strips my hull down to 0%, broken canopy and all. I'll admit I snapped and sent a harsh word over. Well, two. :)

After which he says "Bring cargo next time." and leaves. I reckon he did not realize that I could reboot my system to regain thruster functionality and figured he'd left me stranded, so I somehow survived and kept my bounty vouchers.

It was a bitter-sweet experience though, as I usually dominate NPC Imperial Clippers but this guy just had me by the jimmies.

Why would anyone interdict a Viper and expect it to have cargo?

My Viper doesn't even have a cargo rack!

Indeed I was rudely Yanked out of SC by an eager CMDR in his shiny cobra. And there's me in my even more shiny Vulture with zero cargo. I was nice and pointed out that maybe I was the wrong ship to pick on. Left him with a wing waggle and hopefully some more sense.

I mentioned it in the last thread on this topic but I'll never ever forget the player in the Eagle interdicting me while I had my Clipper and apologizing profusely while I brought my guns to bear on him. I let him jump away without hurting him.

On my way to George Lucas station in Leesti a little earlier today and I got interdicted by Cmdr Kakkakia in a very nice FDL. I fly a Cobra Mk3 so I knew the game was up!

I was hailed promptly:

CMDR. STOP your engines for SCAN or I will SHOOT to KILL!
If you have a C.O.D.E let me know.

While I was stopped and being scanned I got a decent look at the FDL nice and close and I enjoyed the quiet sense of terror that this guy might blow me out of the sky when he discovered that I had no cargo to speak of.

A few seconds later I was hailed again.

You can leave Cmdr.

The sense of relief was palpable. I got up to speed and jumped out of there before he could change his mind. To me this is what Elite: Dangerous is all about. I can't wait to earn my way to an FDL, perhaps then I'll be in a better negotiating position! It also made me think that I need to hook up in a wing so that I have access to back up in future.

Gosh, I was almost tempted to run to see which would win out, my FSD or his lasers. I think we all know I would have been toast, but it's so much fun!

Anyone else want to share a classy interdiction experience?

I was the one who interdicted you... but i stated "submit to a screening" then you were clean, and i finished with "you're free to go, thank you for your coop."

or atleast it was a player with a very similar name and in the leesti system... doubt it, unless you got 2 interdiction. or i'm completely wrong and the name was nothing like yours... idk, i've interdicted alot of players today in lave and leesti. waiting to catch a pirate asking about the code.... i'm waiting...

CMDR Clippers are a CMDR Viper's worst nightmare because of their speed and their ability to mass lock. Stay away.

I love it when this sort of thing happens , and I wish the AI was more like this and actualy decent in a fight. anyway kudos to you for not calling what happened ""greifing""

Too funny.
But what is a C.O.D.E.?
Secret handshacke? Do I need a decoder ring now?

I've been wanting to interdict somebody, ask "what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow". If I get the response "African or European", I answer "what, I don't know that" *Self-Destruct*

I've always found the commanders I meet polite and civil, when hauling in my T6 - I don't mind the give and take of interdiction and the majority of times negotiation works.

I'm also always keen to throw a hello out to any I see on my scanners.

I have 16 tons of cargo space in Vera just in case wanted commanders want to bribe me ;)

it's a trap :O

Huh? Protection racket without the assurance of protection? Seems a bit like stealing lunch money if you dont provide an escort and aren't offering anything more than "I won't try to kill you personally." At least offer to play bodyguard. Picking up an escort through a half dozen systems might be useful but isolated pay or I try to kill you is just a form of piracy.

Guess I'm not your target market.

Good luck with the enterprise though.

Well, to be fair - they claim to chase down the "kill for lulz" folks from their claimed space. Well, that and bounty hunters.

I was interdicted six or seven times today. Luckily for me before I'd got around to buying any rares. Wouldn't be surprised if you were one of them. Thanks for letting me go!

I like the term 'classy interdiction' and want it worked into the game somehow.

Pirate ranking separate to combat ranking?

"Thinking of becoming a pirate...remember, keep it classy"

A stutter free evening and better interdiction chances, a coincidence?

Tonight I played for 2.5 hours and I haven't had any supercruise stutter.
Also, I easily won interdictions against two wanted NPC's with dangerous ranks, which almost always fails normally.

The only thing I changed is that I replaced my old Thrustmaster GPX XBOX controller with... a new Thrustmaster GPX XBOX controller.

The old one started to move slightly erratically when doing subtle movements with the right stick (roll), nothing grave I thought. The calibration tool showed a little too much movement to my taste when I was holding it still.

Changing to a new one seems to have a dramatic (positive) effect.
