Today i was hauling weapons to Kakha for community goal and for my third trip i got interdicted by folks in Vultures..
First they opened fire, slightly tickling my shields, then they hailed me with something like
"Docking computers are evil! Submit to scan and inspection..."
Didn´t read the rest since i was busy aligning myself back to the station course and SC´d away in my Anaconda.

Pity, if they´d hailed me first before opening fire, i would have at least interesting chat with them, but noo.. they had to shoot first.

Do you happen to be talking about the interdiction issue where the interface goes into a seizure fit? Cause I hate when that happens.

Why would anyone interdict a Viper and expect it to have cargo?

My Viper doesn't even have a cargo rack!

My thoughts exactly. It was a shoddy attempt at roleplay, I fear, as I witnessed him interdict (and reportedly destroy) a sidewinder shortly after.

His name has been recorded among my mates, some of which have better suited ships and gaming peripherals than me. ;) Hopefully he gets a taste of his own medicine.

If you are a trader and get interdicted do you fight or run: Poll

If you are a trader and get interdicted do you fight or run. I run a type 7 transport and I was wondering what other people do. I can easily run from the fight, but if I loaded up with weapons I could make some money on the side by killing the pirate and collecting the bounty.

If it's a player ship or a way over-the-top NPC, I run. Barrel-roll slowly while using a bit of lateral thrusters. Throwing out chaff and heatsinks.

If my shields drop, I run really fast in Silent Running, throwing out heat sinks to avoid becoming a molten blob.

If my pursuer is gaining on me and doing damage, I'll often go for a last ditch 180, a close fly-by, and a fast burn away as the hostile ship turns.

Fight.

But then, I only fly ships that can fight. Yeah, my trading might not be as efficient since I can't carry as much cargo, but blowing up pirates is fun.n

Depends on what is doing the interdicting
If you have a Type 7 and turrets you can have fun watching Adders and such fight your ship with the debug camera.

Running.

While doing trading I don't really wanna do combat and I don't even install Weapons on my Tradingships, so fighting would be difficult ^^

When I had a Type 6 I had mines. Does that count as running AND fighting?

Trading now in an Asp I fight anything other than Vipers and elite Eagles.

You missed the most used option... loggoffski
Yep, that.
Tried pirating a few times now, always got disappointed.
Either they 'disappear' *cough* or they run, run, run (and die) instead of dropping some of their dozens of tons of cargo.

> People are stupid <

"Hey, you there, gimme your golden watch or die!"
"No, armed robber at gun-point range who can end my existence in a split second, I rather try and run away because I don't care about dying thanks to Braben's Vision™ where dying has zero consequences and my newly arranged care-bear-all-inclusive-insurance pays for my life, ship and golden watch, ha!"

Duh. -.-

PvP piracy is basically non-existent anymore due to solo-care-bear-try-hard-must-farm-money-traders and some occasional encounters that usually go like mentioned above (which is frustrating and not worth the hassle).

Awesome game design, really.

Unless really outgunned I fight. But then again I don't trade in a Hauler, I trade in an Adder. I don't trade in a T6, I trade in an Asp. I don't trade in a T7, I trade in a Clipper. I don't trade in a T9, I trade in an Anaconda. Depending on viewpoint either do the dedicated trading ships have too little cargo space to make them really worth getting, or the multirole ships have to much cargo space to consider a dedicated trading ship instead. Throughout the entire ship progression, the multirole ships in a similar price range as the dedicated trader simply carry more, are better armed and faster. The Conda breaks the "carries more" rule, but makes up for that in vastly superior jumprange over the T9, making runs much much faster. Of course the multirole ships are much more expensive to kit out, but you also earn the money needed for that much faster.

For me it was:
Sidey - Fight, nothing to lose.
Hauler - Run away.
Cobra - Fight.
T6 - Run away.
Asp - Fight.
T7 - Run away.
Clipper - Fight.
Phython - Fight.
T9 - Craaaaawwwll away, very slowly.

Should have enough for an Anaconda in a few days so back to fighting to save my cargo.
