Jeez I hate being Interdicted.
I get what you are saying, but look at the flipside, if you could just jump around and earn money, what would be the point of it all? yay you now have money for an anaconda with everything, but have absolutely no idea how combat works so you get smoked the first time you take your big ship into combat against an enemy that is weaker.

But feel free to tell your own version of a story you're not part of. ;)
There I was, laying on a grassy knoll in the glorious sunshine minding my own business. All of a sudden things just went crazy. I think someone was shot, but they were OK as they sat still for 15 seconds and dissapeared from existence. My day was ruined I tell ya!

Tanks for quoting Sandro's clarification. I feel less dirty about my own 'graceful' exits from hairy situations now. :)

Pah. About as graceful as Shrek in a tutu doing Swan Lake. ;)

if they were able to disable you twice and failed to kill you within the 15 second logout timer then they obviously weren't serious.

and guys the gods have said the 15 second exit is not combat logging so get over it and move on.

next time have a couple rail guns or plasma launchers for quick kills.

This morning I was interdicted by two CMDRs in Lugh while doing PP undermining.

1. i started to get out of this situation with supercruise -> mass locked
2. i started to get out of this situation with hyperjump -> they shot out my drives (thrusters offline and at 0%)
3. i initiated reboot/repair (thrusters online (1%))
4. they shoot out my drives again
5. i press ESC and waited for the 15 seconds timer (this is not "combat logging" ?)
6. i'm out. let's check if i survived -> YES

Actually, this was fun but too much excitement for me at 8 AM.

Close call commander :)

I'm not proud of it but I also don't feel bad.

It was my choice to accept the risk that the 15 seconds are not enough to get out instead of just pressing the reset button on my PC.

And as far as I know this is a legit way to get out of the game, regardless of the situation I'm in.

The fact that you posted it about how you survived the interdiction by 2 Cmdrs makes it look like you are proud of it, if not why would you post it like this? FD may not consider the 15s logout as combat log but alot of people that actually play this game and others that have the same issue do. but then I guess it dont matter what we think as long as you did not break established rules

How do you know if I ruined someones experiences/benefits? Where you one of the CMDRs ?

You are wanted. You logged out before they could kill you; they lost out on the bounty reward (ie: the benefit). It's pretty self-evident.

Not just the lost bounty for your being wanted but you cost them money for damage caused by interdicting you that they would likely have made back(depending on the bounty amount), + ammo that may have been shot (if they used kinetic weaps).

Whether the point of open is for PVP or not is not the point. The point is if you play in open you assume the risk that PVP is possibly gonna happen, and the fact that you were undermining in that system for PP gave them every right to expect to be able to destroy you in the spirit of the game.

FD may not consider it combat logging but when you are coming in with a brag thread about how you survived a 2 CMDR interdiction most serious gamers are going to call it what it is, a cheap tactic that should be considered combat logging

after a while you'll get use to it and probably use it to your advantage later on in the game if looking for some extra pennies via a bounty. I miss in interdictions from the old game during hyperspace jumps ending up trapped in a starless void...."oh look a Thargoid...time to die! did i remember to write my will?"

When you say 'interdicted 4 times', does that apply to the 4 hours you mentioned playing, both per day? Then that doesn't seem bad at all, I have seen worse myself.

Taking sides in PP strongly increases the number of interdictions - suddenly you have more enemies, so this makes sense to me. Also, in systems with 'lockdown' or 'war' interdictions seem to increase by the local navy. Additionaly, if you are wanted locally, local security and bounty hunters might interdict you more often.
All these look like good reasons to me that FD modified the interdiction rate.
With one of the later 1.3.x updates, I have had NPCs following me through several interdictions, as if wanting to hunt me down. Great NPC improvement, I applaud FD for this new feature!

On the other side, some pirates just seem to 'know' that you are carrying cargo. Sometimes I get fired upon without a cargo scan, so that looks a bit like cheating to me.

Fly safe, CMDR! And just submit :)

OP, why your at it, why not take all the weapons out of 'Counter Strike' .......????? Let the combat be with who has the biggest bunch of flowers?

Get Real please, Interdictions is part of the Game, Like it and Lump it or go play My Little pony!

Only annoying thing about these is getting interdicted by some trivial ship when you are in a much more powerful ship or by a low ranking npc pilot that doesn't stand a chance against you and flies staight toward you and throttles down. Be nice if it were matched to your ship/pilot ranking then there would be an element of danger especially when on the last leg of a mission or preparing to hand in hours worth of kills. As it stands, without any AI into what you are being interdicted by, it's just a nuisance factor but shouldn't be removed from the game... Just needs a bit of tweeking.

Once you have a half decent ship, like a Cobra, then just submit, kill warrant scan and collect the bounty (unless you are interdicted by something big but that is rare). It just becomes a bit of extra income and a way of breaking up the trade boredom.

Why does wasting time fighting an interdiction from an NPC nets 200 to 400C only?

I learned my lesson: There is zero reason whatsoever to stay in an interdiction from an enemy NPC...none
You submit, then run and jump again
If you don t and you don t have a strong ship you are in for several minute of fight, repairs, munitions cost etc for what? 400credits? Really? seriously?
I got attacked by an enemy thug and killed him so why shouldn t my faction reward me better for this?
It just makes being interdicted an annoyance followed by running and jumping because the game mechanic is a virtual waste of time and resources

Any chances of improving this and making it less of a waste of time

This is exactly what I look fwd to doing...once i can tear myself away from the delicious coin im making
in smuggling long enough to get combat down well...then it will be " Im your huckleberry" (from tombstone)

Just was interdicted in Rhea by an npc...almost managed to kill me and left me at 50% with a 6k damage bill for 7 minutes fight (Im lowbie) netted me to almost being killed and 400C
Yeah... this is the last time ever I engage an NPC that interdict me. Utter total waste of time.
Further more there were 2 elite cops vessels with us and they were just sitting there doing nothing. When you pop Wanted people near a beacon you get swamped by security forces but when you are attacked by an enemy the cops just stand there? give me a break
You really need to improve this mechanic

400cr from an interdiction? Even a lowly Sidewinder usually nets me 2,000cr+ without any bonuses from a Kill Warrant Scan? Vipers can be 50k with KWS, Asps 100k? Am I missing something? Are you talking about PowerPlay interdictions?

*Edit* OK, If you were damaged in the fight that would eat into the profits. I'd suggest running, or as you say, not getting interdicted, till you're in a ship that can handle itself. I generally deliberately submit to interdictions as I view them as the game fiving me free cash. :)

I noticed this last time I allowed myself to be interdicted. A mostly harmless cobra interdicted me right after I bought and outfitted a Python. He wasn't accomplishing anything by shooting me so I was taking the opportunity to acquaint myself with the Python's handling, trying various different methods of turning to get the Cobra in my sites but never firing more than once. I had Report Crimes Against Me turned on so the authorities soon showed up. This was in an Empire aligned system just a stone's throw from an Empire aligned station, the Cobra was a member of the local pirate faction.

I toyed around with the Cobra for another five minutes after the authorities showed up, if not longer. During that time the Cobra hit me plenty of times, but the authorities never engaged. Once I was satisfied with the Python's test run I quickly spaced the Cobra's pilot.

At this point the Sys Auth vessels ordered me to comply while they ran a scan. So I left.

In that case I was glad that Sys Auth didn't interfere, but I imagine I would be irritated if I was depending upon Sys Auth for support.
