The enemy kept his vector more centered than you is all there is to it...trust me if you aren't experienced avoiding PLAYER interdictions, there is a huge difference between NPC's and you will probably not win without a lot of practice. You are definitely able to win them with the exception against those that use hacks, there are people out there using those as well that keep the vector perfectly centered and FD has no way of detecting these (or so it would appear).

i've only been playing for about a month but i've dealt with player interdictions a few times and have so far been able to avoid them. i just throttle down into the blue (seems to help with turning) and keep centered. this time was different though. he could have just been taht good, but it really felt like i was doing everything right and just had zero chance of building up my blue bar. even when i was dead center it was dropping. i dont mind being the underdog but i like to at least feel like i have a chance. I like open play (and even think piracy is a cool fun part of the game) but i dont think CG events are for me.

Yes, I have had exactly the same issue. No matter how well I kept the target lined up the red bars rapidly increased and the blue bars rapidly dropped...nothing I could do about it.

Finally, try heading towards the nearest star if you are close enough, I've been able to lose them by heading straight towards it then last minute pulling up and around while they either plunge into it or emergency drop.

I have done the same with a planet...

OP, you just need to practice them, use the npc's as practice. Cmdrs are much much harder to avoid than npc's but it's highly possible. I think my success rate of cmdr avoidance is above 80%. Saying that you also get glitches, wild swings, etc that maybe you can do nothing about but in general keep fighting them. Bizarre as it sounds I find it easier to be the evader rather than the interdictor.

If he plays a pirate he most likely has more experience with interdicting CMDRs than you. So even if you stay at the center all the time, he will be better at staying at the center all the time ;)

That said I think there are still some bugs with interdicting, might be that you just have been unlucky.

Plenty of bugs in the system still I think. I had a encounter with a player wing, evaded 1st attempt on me , had blue circle centred and winning the 2nd attempt; then it said i'd escaped , froze for a few seconds and dumped me in the middle of their conda/cobra gang in me poor hauler-taxi :)

There are some very sad people around

Player interdiction is fine, NPC is utterly broken for me and I haven't won a single one since they released gamma last November. As soon as an NPC interdicts me my ship spins on its Z axis, the blue escape vector shoots off the side of the screen and the interdictee is in my sights followed by drive failure 0.000001 seconds later. If I am very very lucky and not moving to fast (under 1.0C) then I can sometimes submit, any faster and its drive failure.

Ive had a ticket open with FDEV for months, provided screen shots and logs whilst having direct contact via email with them, they have confirmed its a bug and even said going backwards in supercruise isn't possible IIRC, I have a screen shot showing it.

Its just broken to the point where I have lost faith in them every bothering to fix it, if they are even able to.

Often, as mentioned by babelfish ,player interdictors have a lot more experience and often higher-rated fsi devices. A player interdictor will also often wait till you enter a mass-shadow near your destination station and jump you when close @ full speed just at the moment you're slowing, makes it harder to avoid from experience. You can use the same tactic yourself to see the difference.

I too am confused about this subject, however, I have noticed that since changing ship to a war conda( very heavy) that interdicting has become much much easier for me. I think the mass of the interdictor ship plays a big role.

What's wrong with these interdictions?

Everytime I get interdicted by an npc and I try to escape, I get the bar almost full in the blue.
And in 90% of the time, the npc is somehow able to completely turn around the 'tunnel' and get me interdicted in less than a second after the turn.
Speed was in optimal zone, I was far enough away from any space body.
How on earth am I supposed to escape these things?

I've had that from time to time as well, I believe its a glitch they know about.

Sometimes it's easier to just submit (throttle to zero), wait to exit SC and then just boost away.

Is the interdiction minigame rigged?

I was on an undermining session yesterday, over an hour of pure interdiction. Out of 5 T-9s I tried to interdict, I got only one. I did interdict, in the same session, countless Asp, Eagles, Cobras, T-6s, T-7s and so on. I don't know what it is but when I start interdicting a T-9, it seems it's rigged. If I maintain the dot blue in the middle, I don't gain anything, I just maintain the gain I had. But as soon as I get slightly off, then my scale starts decreasing. I get it back in the middle and it stops, only to start decreasing again until I lose it.

I don't understand. Anybody has any explanation?
