OP what you didn't take notice of (most likely) is the RANK of the ships you were interdicting. Generally the T-9 faction ships you undermine are highly ranked; Dangerous - Elite generally and difficulty of interdiction changes vastly from Harmless to Elite as far as NPC's go. It isn't rigged though I beat the Elite NPC's very easily, but I've had a lot of practice interdicting...it is not the interdictor size you have that effected it some of these people are mentioning, difficulty is based off NPC combat rank.

It's complicated, but as mentioned short answer yes.

You especially don't want to fit a small interdictor to a big ship and try to interdict other big ships. If you're in a Python, don't put an A1 interdictor on it.

Must be a PvP problem only.. in my Clipper I take down Anacondas with my 2D no problem.

Here's something I've been suspecting: usually we start the interdiction as soon as they get in range, which means the max range of our FSD. We try to keep them centered, the target tries to make all kinds of moves. The further away the target is, the smaller the movements of the target seems to be to us, and the easier it is to keep them in sight. From close range though even a small turn may have them move all over the place from our perspective. FWIW: I run a 1A interdictor in my FDL and have no probs dragging elite condas out of SC. Seemed even easier though with the 4A I had fitted earlier.

You got a cheap interdictor didn't you?

I don't know. Would a 3A be considered a cheap one? Maybe the size has something to do with the mass. That would make sense since the T-9 is the heaviest ship in the game.

And it's not PvP, it's purely PvE.

You're maybe right. I don't recall all the ranks I've been interdicting successfully, but I'm sure there were a few dangerous and deadly in the lot. Maybe a combination of ship size and rank. Just a bit weird.

Everytime I get interdicted by an npc and I try to escape, I get the bar almost full in the blue.
And in 90% of the time, the npc is somehow able to completely turn around the 'tunnel' and get me interdicted in less than a second after the turn.
Speed was in optimal zone, I was far enough away from any space body.
How on earth am I supposed to escape these things?

Hmm, seems they've overshot the difficulty a bit. Never really paid attention to the escaping part as I always slam the brakes and blow up the pirates, then continue my trek.

Interdicted by federal agents

Need a little help with this one. I just started the game a couple of days ago so go easy of me if I'm asking a stupid question.

So I've been being interdicted by the feds. (in a system where they are friendly/green to me) At first it was just the security services which was annoying but okay. Then it started to be federal agents, so I just assumed it was due to the local conflict or political situation. Anyway after re-joining to Zach Hudson I was interdicted by a federal agent who attacked and killed me.

So the question is, why am I being attacked by feds when the federation is friendly to me? And am I being attacked for dropping allegiance to Zach Hudson the first time around? Right now I'm allied and it's a little strange to be killed like this. The period where you're hunted for dropping allegiance really should end if you re-pledge.

Anyone know if this will continue forever as a bug or should it wear off? Oh and I forgot to mention that the federal agent had a bounty, this was visible before using a scanner on him so I think the bounty was local to the system?

Them Fed Agents are agents of opposing PowerPlay factions (the folks not allied/supporting Zach).

Ah all good, thanks!

Possibly - did you defect to another power?

Nope. I rage-left him when the feds treated me poorly for "helping them" As it turns out my turrets were taking their paint off when I was aiming poorly at bounties. After I figured this out I pledged to him again some hours later.

If you submit your FSD cools down faster than if you fight the interdiction and lose. As soon as you can, jump back into SC and then immediately drop out again; then, as fast as you can, go Silent Running > Boost > FA:OFF > Turn off every module. Now wait as long as you like (while your oxygen runs down). When you think you've waited enough, power up and flee.

This works because cooling down makes you hard to detect, going FA:OFF lets you coast along with your engines off. If you don't turn Flight Assist off you only move by using your engines - which produce heat. With everything off you shouldn't over-heat.

Assuming the NPC (or CMDR) follows you out of SC he (probably) won't spot you on his radar (a CMDR may think you combat-logged :D). Plus, when you jump back into SC you *might* be in a different instance.

Every time i get interdicted recently the tunnel instantly spins behind me and i cant get it back. Never had this issue before. Was wonder if its since i hit deadly rank its become harder (read impossible) to escape.

Interdicted and killed again. This time by Sirius Security.

These deaths seem like unavoidable roadblocks since it's almost impossible to avoid interdictions and my Eagle has no chance vs a tooled up npc.

Should I ditch the faction to avoid all this wasted time and bother? Even if the interdictions weren't killing me every time they'd still be annoying. But it seems like if I ditch my faction again I'd be missing out on a great feature that the devs clearly put a lot of time into.

it could be that you jumped into PP a bit early, some may say that power play is more of end game content ( i don't always agree whit them)
if you decide to stick whit it i can give you a tip - you don't have to fight the interdiction mini game. if you just want to escape its often more faster and safer to just submit (pull throttle to zero during the mini game) and boost boost until you can go to super cruise again.

Ditch power play for now--don't get involved in politics until you are sure of what your position in the galaxy is. That is my advice.

Alternatively go to Elite Hudson reddit, and look for other players. There are plenty of us who would be glad to help out.

If you're going to engage in PP then I recommend a ship more powerful than an eagle. Say an adder (not really recommended but better than an eagle) or better yet, a cobra Mk III. Because you will get interdicted and as you say, an eagle stands little chance against a fully tooled NPC.

I'll give that a try before deciding whether to ditch faction again or not, thanks!

I'd have a decent chance to outrun in the viper, but the 133k buyback is a little daunting at this point in the game for me, so I've been using the eagle which can't outrun or fight these interdictions.

Fix the stupid interdiction outcome

FD....seriously. One of the most glaring 2+2=elephant RNG brainfarts in the game still exists. It has been raised many times but for those who don't know what I am talking about.....

Supercruising into Orbital XXX
320 LS out..hello there, you look like your lining me up for interdiction...OK, but you had better not dump me out further away than I am currently......submit
Low wake 370 LS out. OK fine.
Resume Supercruising into Orbital XXX
25 LS out..oh there you are again. Want another bite eh....groan, I know where this is going....low wake again....52 LS out, because that makes sense
Interdicted at 5 LS low wake back into SC at 35 LS....fun increases
Interdicted at 12 MM low wake back into SC at 21 LS....I can't get enough of it

It's a pile of steaming elephant dung and its sitting in the middle of your lounge. What are you going to do? Well, any sane person would get a shovel. Some more slovenly individuals would pretend it was not there. ;)

I can understand a difference in the distance at interdiction termination and the distance dropped at, but...

Teleportation....it's not Elite lore...that's star trek ;)

Rant over, minor thing for some. Too much fort delivered last cycle I think.

I think it is worse when the interdicting immediately bugs out and the interdictor wins, however I do feel your pain especially when I am trying to get somewhere in a jiffy.
