Hehe, at least your "persistent Interdictor NPC" is magically respawned in front of you instead of the otherwise correct location after you escape back to SC.
Otherwise, you'd have him on your 6 every few seconds after returning to SC - just like in real life, if it was a Player ;)

How to get rid of such guys?
Use the Instancing...

As soon as you get the typical line "The rumor was right!" or similar announcing the Interdictor - manually drop from SC just once and simply return to it.
High chance of the RNG System not spawning one again once you enter.

It's a bit awkward - but that's how the System works, if you "game" it.

I know, but I just can't bring myself to do that.

Then make the best of it (I usually do it) - make it to the station and move just outside the NoFire zone (entering it triggers them flying away) - then let him attack you.

I always find it enjoyable seeing the Station Fighters and eventually the Station opening fire on the annoyance. Good show :D

I will unfortunately never find it fun but I do understand what you are saying. If the interdictor NPCs were not usually just eagles interdicting it would be worth stopping to fight, but no, what we have is a lot of dumb NPCs with a chip on their shoulders and suicidal tendencies. Either that or they are just there for giggles ;)

It only gets more annoying when it is an enemy faction PP NPC telling you that you "Are in the wrong neighbourhood" when on final approach to astation in controlled space (with no PP cargo, bounties, data or anything else aboard at the time). The enemy is in the wrong neighbourhood.

I think it is worse when the interdicting immediately bugs out and the interdictor wins...

This has been happening since Beta (the Interdiction screen goes Double Sighted kinda thing and you lose), has anyone actually reported it? :D as it should've been fixed months ago really!

FD....seriously. One of the most glaring 2+2=elephant RNG brainfarts in the game still exists. It has been raised many times but for those who don't know what I am talking about.....

Supercruising into Orbital XXX
320 LS out..hello there, you look like your lining me up for interdiction...OK, but you had better not dump me out further away than I am currently......submit
Low wake 370 LS out. OK fine.
Resume Supercruising into Orbital XXX
25 LS out..oh there you are again. Want another bite eh....groan, I know where this is going....low wake again....52 LS out, because that makes sense
Interdicted at 5 LS low wake back into SC at 35 LS....fun increases
Interdicted at 12 MM low wake back into SC at 21 LS....I can't get enough of it

It's a pile of steaming elephant dung and its sitting in the middle of your lounge. What are you going to do? Well, any sane person would get a shovel. Some more slovenly individuals would pretend it was not there. ;)

I can understand a difference in the distance at interdiction termination and the distance dropped at, but...

Teleportation....it's not Elite lore...that's star trek ;)

Rant over, minor thing for some. Too much fort delivered last cycle I think.

I feel with you, I also hate it when that happens. Once I was interdicted while fuel scooping, looking directly at the star. It was utterly 4th wall wrecking when I could see with my own eyes how I was magically teleported backwards, from scooping distance to several tens of lightseconds.

You are pulled to the interdictor, that's why you end up further away afterwards.

Solution: Only the interdictor is pulled towards you instead.

I have to agree, the way interdiction works in this manner is not only irritating but immersion breaking, I've yet to see anything from the devs to explain this in lore.

Or.....level the top of it off and put your pint on it while watching the Rugby World Cup ;)

Evidence. Quote. FD source.

Nope. That does not do it.

I couldn't find any official statement (short of digging deep into the old DDF threads) - but it's definitely true.
It's also the reason if you i.e. want to help out another Ship that was interdicted, you always have to seek the trailing (Interdictor's) Low Energy Wake if you want to enter the fight.

I know the feeling well, being pulled into an Interdiction as close as x.x Mm (just seconds from the Safe Disengage) - and end up many Ls away again.
I guess having two Ships dropping out of SC just forced FDev to make a decision which Low Energy Wake to choose to locate the Instance for the normal-space fight. A bit odd the way it works, but that just seems the way it is.

Hardly any Player (or NPC) uses them, but a Class 4A Interdictor can easily displace the interdicted Ship hundreds of Ls. A Class 3A FSDI already works upto ~250Ls with the usual in-System speeds I think.

I kinda like the idea of more persistent NPCs (because that makes them more similar to Player Interdictions), although I understand running a Transport Ship away from a potent NPC can get a tad annoying.

My best guess is this is a measure to prevent you from crashing into things (like stars, planets or their rings) while in the interdiction minigame. It is a bit immersion-breaking especially if you're near a star. Once I was headed to a nav beacon and got pushed 50Ls back from it, even further away from the station I had departed from.

However I do appreciate not being flung into the sun just because I was interdicted nearby.

I concur. I always immediately submit, so I am not being pulled anywhere, and what is worse are those pointless military interdictions, where you get interdicted and they don't actually do anything, at least with the other you can get some creds.

I have never reported it because I thought someone would have already done so by now...

I don't think this is annoying when you get interdicted a fair way from the station, but I got interdicted 3 Mm from the station (at 1 Mm I could drop out of supercruise) and lost the mini-game fight (to an NPC ... which was unusual) and then boosted away and jumped back into supercruise and was 12 LS away from the station. THAT was annoying.

Perhaps it should be mass dependent. A smaller interdicting ship should be pulled toward a T9, and vice versa ... though I've yet to see an example of a T9 successfully interdicting an Eagle. As for persistent interdicting NPCs insta-spawning after you escape them and doing it again, v. irritating indeed. I now kill them.

same, I gave up reporting when it took 6weeks once to get a reply asking me if it was still happening...
It is the same with cheaters I come across for example, shields up whilst silent running or unlimited shielding, I just don't bother anymore as I have seen people that I have reported still playing the game and causing trouble for new players.

Try coming in to an RES, bout 1-2ls out getting interdicted and after dropping out of SC you're 300+ls out and when you reenter SC you're still 300+ls out. xD
