I agree. I have owned the game ALMOST 2 months. I just started to really like it. Something has completely broken with the NPC interdictions. The game is ruined for me. I would like a refund please.

Or you could, you know, wait and see if things change in 1.4.1...
Or check the forums for tricks on how to avoid interdictions better...
Or take better precautions to avoid in interdiction situations in the first place...

Do you really think your only option is to throw it all away and ask for a refund?

Interdiction are ruining this game for me.

I only started playing a little over a month back and had been having a lot of fun. I've been trying out all the various types of things to do in the game (combat, mining, missions, trade, PP). I wanted to try exploring but it seems the latest patch broke that so I've been holding off till that is fixed and till I can get my ASP fully outfitted for exploration. In the mean time I've been trying to make some money trading.

Before this week, I only had two ships destroyed.

Today I have to sale my Asp, because I can no longer afford to it. I've been destroyed several times, loosing millions in cargo and ship re-buy cost. The last run I did I didn't even fill my cargo hold b/c I knew if I bought anymore I wouldn't have been able to re-buy my ship. And sure enough I was interdicted. I kept with in the escape vector ring for a good long time... but that seems to (now) just stop the blue bars from sinking as fast... there doesn't seem to be any way for me to actually escape. Sure before it was a snap to escape, but now, now matter how hard I try the blue sinks and the red climbs. I try to run after I am pulled out, but it is no use.

So now I have less than 10K credits, and no cargo to sale. I'm selling my Asp.

Elite went from being a fun game that I was just obsessing about... to just a source of frustration.

In the same boat as this guy. In fact I just signed up on the forums to say the same or quote someone else saying the same things since I'm not alone in this.

I bought a T6 to try trading out for the first time this week, and in about an hour or so, I lost so much money from interdictions and getting shot down while trying to do a simple trade run, I was too poor to rebuy if I got shot down again. And of course, like clockwork, another interdiction came while I was doing what was probably my last attempt at a trade run, and just out of instinct, I just quickly hit the window key and closed the game. Loaded back in and though I didn't give it much thought as I was doing that, it turns out, it's my only way to survive in this game...to shut it down.

Can't do a damn thing because of the number of interdictions, and also the impossibility of surviving the encounter either. 1.4 is not just dangerous, it's annoying and tedious. These types of encounters should happen in moderation to make them interesting, and they should come from players, not from NPCs with this frequency and difficulty. As it is now, it's just constant harassment that kills the fun in ED.

It is so bad that now, I'm not going out anywhere except in my Python. I was kitting out an Asp for possible exploration later but I stripped it and sold it yesterday. To have a proper jump range, I had to keep only the essential. No way I would make it out of the habitable bubble in one piece. So, rather than collecting dust, I sold it. If I was an explorer coming back to the bubble and having not experienced interdictions in 1.4, I'd be very wary, specially if I didn't have shields or weapons. I'm sure we'll hear some horror stories over the next few weeks...

Just chiming in to say that I freaking hate the changes to interdictions. Something feels really off to me. I can't interdict an Adder in my Cobra with an A2 Interdictor. It takes forever to wrestle a competent T6 out of supercruise now. And on the flip side everything seems to be interdicting me no problem at all. It feels terribly one sided. This is one of the first times I've felt like the AI was cheating.

Maybe I have old habits that are making it all impossible now, but I think that if your changes are that drastic then something is broken somewhere. There should be better feedback to tell me what I'm doing wrong at the least. I've really been enjoying 1.4 so far, but after trying to get some undermining in earlier this has really soured a the update for me a bit.

would these tricks involve showing how to avoid the NPCs that literally spawn right on you, and magically jump to your location constantly after you jump back in to super cruise?

I guess, when in the simulation that all NPCs are agents...

All I was getting at was, if there ARE legit problems, they will be dealt with. If they're NOT legit problems, its a matter of learning how to deal.

Taking your ball and going home (or trying to get a refund for said ball) doesn't seem like a proper response.

I agree with that, at this point. Tthey have said it is a bug, and one would hope they are working to fix it sooner rather then later. but I do hope the NPCs with the magical FSD that lets them leap over me so they can interdict over and over again is also part of the bug.

since I posted that last comment I did find one trick. I was smuggling to a station 14k LS away from its star, as you know if you can't build up speed you will never get there, and after the 10th interdiction about 20 seconds apart form one another I knew that was not going to happen, so I left the system. but later I came back and logged out. the NPCs did not spawn on me until I was going fast enough that they could not catch up.

Loosing an interdiction is a thing, getting obliterated by NPCs is another.
Believe me, being chased/attacked by NPCs is a joke compared to real players you may face in open.

I have been flying a T9 for about a week, have been interdicted by various NPCs many times and they never managed to take down my shield.

What does not kill you (5% rebuy cost is more than reasonable!) makes you stronger!
Learn, adapt, win...it's part of the fun!
You will find many good advices on this forum. :)

Interdictions, currently, remind me of Orr when Guild Wars 2 first launched.

Orr was the tough, high level area. Jam-packed with difficult mobs it was extremely difficult to sneak past, and what's worse, they had crowd-control stuns and yanks.

It was a situation where.. yeah, you had to be super-cautious and getting anywhere you wanted to get to took time, unless you were in a large huddle with other plays and could then just ignore the trash.

Guess what? Having unavoidable NPCs that yanked and stunned you turned out to be not terribly fun in GW2. The mobs were thinned out considerably not long after launch.

Having mobs that spawn on your six that 'cc' you with unavoidable interdictions in E:D is actually worse. They actually CHEESE you by SPAWNING ON YOUR BACK. There's no way even to use situational awareness to skirt these idiot mobs.

Agreed! Being interdicted every 10 seconds is NOT fun or even challenging, it's just annoying and tedious. I got interdicted 5 times on a 10 Ls route, by the same guy. I am flying my Type 6 with no weapons, so I just submit to interdiction and boost away until I can use my FSD again. It's not hard at all, but it's REALLY annoying being interdicted - in an empty ship, no less - every 10 seconds or so. And they don't give up, the same NPC will try to interdict me FOREVER, until I jump to another system.

Every time I enter a new system there are 2-3 NPCs sending me those "Glad I found you first" messages, asking me to follow them, and I don't know why, since I have no mission. Then soon after that 1-2 pirate NPCs show up at try to interdict me, and they will stay on me until the end of time, trying to interdict me every 10 seconds or so unless I jump to another system.

Is this how the game is supposed to be now? Not even able to travel a few Ls without being interdicted, and NPCs never giving up? If this is an intended feature you have just lost a customer.

Wow, anyway I thought I better throw my perspective in here. Loving the new game that's 1.4, if they change it back I'm taking my ball and going home! Seriously though, why not submit if you are losing?

Yeah, being interdicted every 10 seconds when you're flying an empty Type-6 is SOOOOO much fun! Especially since they can never even hurt my shields before I'm gone, SUCH a challenge and SO much fun!

I'm guessing event systems like Carnoeck around Bacon City will have lots of pirates, traveling I didn't notice being interdicted like I was in Carnoeck, I was able to evade one interdiction, but the 2nd one bugged and the escape vector jumped around and distorted, no aligning increased my blue bar during this time, this all happened heading to Bacon City.

Today I won an interdiction by submitting. There I was pressing boost and nothing was happening, and I realised I was still in supercruise. Ok then.

Overall, interdiction by NPCs is not unlike being pestered by gnats on an otherwise fine summer evening, and is just about as welcome.

That's actually a pretty good comparison (and strangely enough makes me want to play GW2 again now) Someone also compared the 1.4 encounters to Dark Souls I think. I've played plenty of Dark Souls games. And even this is more difficult than that. Instead of some moderate difficulty enemies leading to a boss fight, Elite Dangerous NPCs are like a constant random boss battle coming after you, even when you're just starting to leave the bonfire.

I noticed the same thing yesturday. It's not about making horse shoe routes, or even how to deal with the interdictions themselves, it's that they are far too often, and nearly unavoidable it feels like. And while some other people here will say things like "Just submit and boost away" ...that's not a solution! That's a bandaid over a wound! Or "Well I'm just fine in my X uber ship!" ...Good for you! Not all of us are hardcore like that!

I'd say the amount of interdictions needs to be dropped and the difficulty of the fights by 50%. Let the challenge come from the players and not cheap NPC encounters. That's more than enough Danger in Elite Dangerous!

Repeated NPC Interdictions

So here I am attempting to deliver items in the same system to two different stations. I'm not pledged to any power nor am I wanted etc etc.. The second I jump into the system.. interdicted. I'm in a craft with no weapons to maximize jump range etc.. even if I did have weapons.. its not a ship thats going to be able to do much against some of the larger ships or a wing. I manage to run. I am immediately interdicted by the same NPC. I run again.. manage to get 8 sec from my destination.. Bam.. interdicted. I escape. Make my delivery and try to get to the next station.. and this is where the real nonsense begins.

Over the next few minutes I am interdicted no less than 9, nine, NINE times. All by the same NPC. I could not make the delivery.. every time I re-entered supercruise I was immediately interdicted again. I had to combat log in order to end the cycle of stupid. I thought there was some sort of diminishing returns on NPC interdictions? Was there some change? Is this a bug or is this a thing now? If it is.. I gotta say.. I'm out.

I am so frustrated right now i do not know what they have done with AI / Interdictions but this seems off the rail
i recently started playing elite again and noticed this with ai as well they seem to be actively trolling by interdicting
you as many times as possible, there mission : make the player rage quit ! , and so far i have to say they have a high succes
rate with that.

I do not mind getting interdicted once or twice but the spam is real ! , also noticed that the blue bar just drops
recticle in the middle , just drops.. yeah... like the game is just giving you the finger seriously.. npc's are the borg now
resistance is futile.

Look at it like this: the NPC is your problem. You need to fix the problem, or it wont go away. If you want the NPC to stop, you need to make them stop. Not carrying weapons is a choice, but it rarely is a smart one in ED. So get some weapons and kill it. If it is a big ship (and it rarely is, the vast majority of pirate NPCs work solo in small ships!) just high-wake and come back later. The NPC will be gone. Just boosting, low-waking and carrying while pretending the NPC simply doesn't work as you figured out, so we can all stop trying to do that while getting frustrated. :)

Ok so FO4 is probably going to be the only game this year that will force me to hang up my joystick and throttle for the next couple of months. Really enjoying Elite - probably now more than ever - but FO4 is calling.

I wonder if there will be a cool off in the Elite universe for a while? Or will I be the only one...?

I suspect there'll be a cool-off in a quite a few games to be honest.

That might make sense were it not for the fact that the NPCs in question are glued to your ass.. and by that I mean the second you re-enter supercruise you are interdicted again. So I engage my FSD.. it starts..counts down.. then jumps.. that takes what.. 6-8 seconds? So the NPCs are exempt from this? Not to mention they physically follow you if you jump to supercruise wait a second then immediately exit supercruise.. nothing is even on my map.. and yet.. magically.. there they are.

This wasn't an issue in any version of the game I've played yet. Evasion used to be easier as well.. as in I never had a problem evading even in a type 9. Now however, I get boosted into the red while my reticule is mostly blue! ANd this.. since this just happened is my favorite.. got stopped by the same guy 3 times.. said F it.. and jumped to another system... guess who was waiting for me when I got there???????
