I'll probably be ordering a Hotas X soon, I have a wired 360 controller but I think a joystick with this game is really the way to go.

Stumbled across the solution by accident. I had pitch up/down and roll left/right both set to individual axis in the control settings. I had no idea that doing this means that you are set to digital. So ignore my statements on gradiation of control that I said I had, that must have been an impression that I gave myself via throttle!

The fix was to blank each axis that I defined and simply choose the "Pitch axis" choice for configuring instead of "Pitch up" and "Pitch down" individually. I can't help but think that "Pitch up" all the other individual axis controls need to be labelled as digital though, as this is very misleading?

I only spotted this by reading a thread on someone else who was wondering if they had appalling flight skills and the fix was hinted at.

I had this issue in Premium Beta and forgot how to fix this after re-installing. This post really helped. Thanks!

I am sure this information is all over the place
But as a new player I can not find it

Is there a way to swap Yaw and roll axis in the game?

You can customise any button you feel like, swap it if you want, but you can't really replace roll with yaw and use yaw instead as yaw is for precise movements and roll is for major movements.

What I wouldnt mind knowing is if you can adjust the acceleration on a gamepad. It seems when you move the stick movement is either on or off, there is no in between,

Can you make the sticks pressure sensitive basically?

Of course just go into the control options and swap the Yaw and Roll axis. That's all there is to it. (If you need to clear an option, click then ESC will do that).

Joystick Issue

Hi All,

I am posting this here for help since it seems more people are in this forum. Sorry if this is not the place..

I have a Thrustmaster T-Flight Stick X that has worked just fine before. After the upgrade to Gamma 2, when I go to map the buttons, they are all screwed up. What happens is that suddenly the buttons do not match what is on the joystick. For example, button 1 is the trigger on the joystick, but when I map it in settings\controls, it shows up as button 6 when I press it. Button 2 maps as button 5...... So all buttons do not match on the Joystick. Anyone have any ideas?? Again, this has always worked just fine before....

Thanks for the help!!

Joystick/Gamepad sensitivity question.

In Elite Dangerous I find myself doing two types of movement whilst flying. The first is chucking my ship around in barrel rolls and jerks and things I generally want to have a high sensitivity because you want these things to feel very responsive.

The second type of movement is when I'm just behind a target and I want to just nudge myself onto the target with a teenie tiny low sensitivity move.

With high sensitivity the tiny movement to aim throws me wildly off course and with low sensitivity the evasive action feels extremely sluggish.

Any ideas on a program or options that I can use to change between the two sensitivites at the push of a button or something?

Thank you for your help!

JAD.

I went to options, and I was able to choose X-55. But I could not find any way to change axes or buttons. Is there another control option menu? If so How do I get to it?

I appreciate your help. And hope I do not sound to much like a newby, Thanks Borgkube, and pthers

Joystick for ED?

So I have been wondering if people use an actual joystick for this game, it woud fit I guess :p

I have been playing allot of flight sims lately but I dont have a joystick, I am willing to get one! but I have no clue which one to get, I dont need a ubermega joystick that has a bezilion buttons and a full working dashboard with buttons and meters n stuff like that, just a simple joystick would be great xD I am looking at a price range between €50 and €100 euros, willing to get to €150 if needed.

I have looked arround myself a bit, and I came acros the Mad Catz X52 Flight Control
This joystick looked really cool and promesing, not sure if it will be a good choice for flightsims + ED but it looked cool! especially the seperate throttle. this is not needed btw so dont recommend all the joysticks with a throttle now xD

if you guys could help me out that'd be really great! and if you guys can recommend some that'd be great also! :D

thank you in advance!
Have a nice day commanders o7

Im using an X55 Rhino. But i hear the X52 is just as good.

I chose the x55 because it has quite a few more buttons and toggles. I still have some unused buttons which is always better than not having enough. Can always map them to be media keys in the end. XD

Lots are using the Thrustmaster HOTAS, one because it's low cost, and two because it's well built. May not have as many buttons as the higher ends like Siatek, but not everything has to be on the stick, unless you're playing in VR, and add in something like Voice Attack, then the buttons you have are god for dedicating to stuff you want to keep in manual control (like boost, never macro boost!)

HOTAS is best me thinks - I use the X-55, but there a lots of peeps out there using the X-52 Pro.

It comes down to price - I think you are better with the X-55 or X-52 Pro simply because you get decent quality for a good price, it is supported by ED and you don't need pedal rudders (although the TM Warthog looks great and is clearly excellent quality - you need pedals and lots of cash).

My 2 cents

X-52 Pro no doubt about it, used it for DCS as-well and works great and DCS has a ton more bindings than ED. This stick is perfect imo except for using full-range throttle which is a bit tricky for this throttle

I use the Thrustmaster HOTAS-X. Super-cheap, enough buttons for what you need. Has a 8-direction thumb-hat for moving your view or using the external thrusters.
