Another logitech 3d extreme pro user here. Nice bit of kit at a reasonable price

And its small enough that i can stow it away when my pc is used for other things and not appear totally sad

I was a ks backer and in the first round of beta. I had not owned a joystick in many years and thought i would use kb and mouse for this game. After 5 minutes in beta i stopped playing and did not touch the game until full release in December when i decided to treat myself to an x55 rhino. Best purchase i have made in a long time, within 10 minutes i was back in 1984 slipping into the slot with ease :)

Long story short, i am using the x55 rhino and imo money well spent :D

At the moment I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick and a Logitech G13 Advanced Gameboard.

The Extreme 3D Pro is quite old. My Extreme 3D Pro doesn't have a consistent center position. I have to calibrate it each time I want to play. The G13 gameboard is nice.

I'm planning to replace them with a X55.

I do have an old (yet great) Logitech Flightstick Pro laying around I used in SWG's Jump to Lightspeed, yet. ...currently? I'm more than content with the 360 Controller (which is neat ..as far as joypads go :) )

me too, tried the MKB combination and joystick (SilverCrest(Dutch players will know(LIDL)) but now on 360-controller with occasional keyboard!

Edit:typo

I use Fly 5 and keyboard at moment, but I strongly think about upgrading to some HOTAS system; and X52 looks like best option. I'm also looking at CH stick and throttle as option, because I don't like how my FLY 5 "jumps" from center position due to spring centering mechanism. And as far as I know, X52 has same issues... So, CH looked as good option, but their stick don't have ruder control on stick, and I like to have it (I don't like pedals). So, most likely I will either get X52 HOTAS set or just CH throttle.

Logitech Extreme 3d Pro and Keyboard.

It's not an ideal solution but it does the job. Main trouble for me is I'm using the hatswitch to control the lateral and vertical thrusters and I find it kind of hard to use them, manage the throttle and use the button bound for secondary fire all at the same time. Oh and the buttons on the base of the stick suck.

If I were to upgrade my setup I'd go for the t-flight hotas x or, if I were feeling flush, the T.16000m + CH Throttle but I'm going to wait and see how/if the game develops before I lay down any cash.

T16000m and Nostromo Gamepad. Love it. Joystick has weapons, weapons group switching, headlook toggle, and a couple other functions. Hat of the joystick I use for headlook, and when holding down a button on the gamepad I use as a function key, it is power management. On the gamepad I have throttle and horizontal strafing thrusters on the direction pad, vertical strafing thrusters under the pointer finger, and a host of buttons for UI and any other needed binding. Big orange button is all stop (and disable flight assist when holding my function key). Mousewheel is sensor strength adjust and pushing it is silent running. I think the joystick is a fantastic value, but I think I like a left-hand gamepad even more with all the buttons at your disposal.

Thrustmaster Warthog with Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals. Have a TrackIR, but I don't usually wear it unless I'm doing a lot of combat.

Every command I could want is on the stick and throttle :)

Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X. Took a bit of getting used to (last time I used a flight stick was on the C64), but now I can't play the game any other way.

Saitek X55 Rhino, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, and a TrackIR 5.

I'm thinking of plugging in my G13 and using the thumb stick to provide me with analogue thrusters for doing landing, and setting a button on it to re-centre the TrackIR.

Q2 - Is there a joystick/control discussion area on the forum?

At one time, prior to joining, I think I remember a discussion area for joysticks, HOTAS, etc. Am I just getting old timers? Because I can't seem to find it again. TX

Logitech Attack3 for me - had it for years and when I blew the dust off it and plugged it in it worked right away. My only criticism is that the buttons on the right side of the base aren't that conveniently placed so I haven't assigned them. Otherwise it works well. I'm going to upgrade to a full HOTAS setup at some stage but I'm waiting for the Rift CV to come out so I'll probably see if the HOTAS manufacturers have come up with some new models by then and buy both at the same time.
