I bought that t-flight hotas from new egg when my old sidewinder died. I promptly sent it back due its very cheap feel and it also had a half working button on the stick. I then purchased an X-52 and have had zero problems with it and will definitely be buying saitek again when needed.

The X-52 Pro has a big plus! It looks almost identical to the controls you see in the cockpit of the ship. I even think they used it as inspiration. I use the X-52 with the oculus rift and the immersion is even better since what I see is very similar to what I feel with my hands.

Can you get left handed ones?

Lefty here. I've always gamed and moused right-hand though because it was vastly easier to find kit. Lefty guitars are easier to source. Really though it's like anything - car driving for example - it's fine unless you're REALLY one-hand dominant.

There are so many controls on a CH or X setup that you'd better be able to use both hands properly anyway. My Fighterstick and throttle have a near-equal number of buttons; I have redundant systems set up for pipping and freelook, and I've never touched the software for the 3-mode switching. A couple more buttons on the Fighterstick but the throttle has the analogue mini-thumbstick.

I've got a sort of hotas on the cheap....

Right hand - Thrustmaster t.16000...works on the hall effect like the expensive sticks...very nice feel.
Left hand - Old - Speedlink Phantom Hawk - It's got 2 hats so plenty of buttons for thrusters, pwr dist...etc...

I might get shunned for admitting this, but I run the Madcatz cyborg FLY 5 myself. Sure its not the best looking or best quality stick, but I find the position of the dual throttle levers works well for me.

My left hand does the throttle and has access to 6 buttons, while my right has the stick which has 4 buttons, trigger, 8-way hat, scroll wheel and the trigger. More than enough buttons for elite, especially if you use voice attack.

I using genius metal strike 3d, it have good performance , suits game well , but build is cheap plastic, it makes a lot of noises when moving stick , so if u cant live with a lot of strange creepy noises while playing don't go for it, but if u cant afford money , this one will do job well. As well on other computer using cheap acme game-pad, 10 euros price, and I am really amazed how good it working with ED.

A very good budget 'stick is the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, which quite a few of us use.
Mind you, having just checked, its price has gone up by quite a bit lately - so perhaps not.

I can highly recommend the X-52 Pro. I've had mine for at least five years now and not had one problem. Before Elite it has been used regulary with FSX, DCS and IL-86.

To put the use into context, since Elite was released I've clocked up 300 hours and before Elite it got the same use with the other sims.

It isn't cheap but for me it has been fantastic value. I've heard rumours of bad build quality but seems I've been lucky.

Playing now for a week using a turn of the century joystick. The connector is for a gameport with an adaptor for the brand new USB, you older players will remember. Still works fairly well but had to set wider dead zones to use. Ordered a T-flight, be here next week.

I've changed a few times during my first days of pedal use, until I finally found out that my brain works best when I push out right leg to turn left and push out left leg to turn right. This is not a question of "normal", it's what works best for you.

I use my pedals for roll; yaw is on the stick.

saitek joystick with throttle. game setting.

HI everyone I have a saitek joystick and throttle. I'm playing with the saitek settings for elite dangerous. My problem is I just bought an asp but can't see all of the cockpit. As the asp has glass all around cockpit, I can't look at the floor which would help me land due to I'm using the asp for trade for now. Is there a setting which could give me a different look of the cockpit because on my setting I can only look at of front view of cockpit. I can look left and right to the control panels.
I've tried changing setting for head look but doesnt do nothing. Or could I use a different profile for setting because I've heard the saitek profile setting aren't that good. If I can change the profile how do I do it many thanks.
