That's what I have! I have shooting on the 2 triggers, joy 3 is target, 4 is boost, 5 is cycle next fire group, 6 ui focus, then i have cargo scoop, landing gear, deploy hardpoints, enter phase on 7-10, 11 and 12 i have headlook enable for the joystick, and that's it i think, i don't think i have 11 bound. i have the throttle bound to that little peddle like thing at the bottom, and then steer with the stick. I use the nav pad on the stick for using the options on the sides.

Someone said the problem with this is you bring a cheap joystick into an expensive set-up - but the T16000M is extremely accurate, and lack of buttons is it's only real downfall (on the stick itself, that is).

The problem is not that it is a "cheap" joystick. T16000M is an extremely good joystick for its price (or even above it's price. It definitely beat the x52 by miles).

The problem is the CH Throttle is expensive for what it is and has less functionality than the x55 throttle (x55's throttle imo is better it has more function and build is fine. x55's joystick and buttons is what some people have problems with, not the throttle itself). It is the CH throttle that imo is the mismatch in the setup imo. It is only good because CH has good build quality and no other company around atm is making fighter throttles independently. It is just an "okay" throttle in you put it into perspective of all the other throttle that comes with HOTAS, not a good throttle (it is unnatural because it is a flat movement throttle and it also is only a single throttle not a left-right throttle, etc)

Hence if you currently have no joystick, you are better off getting x55 than T16000M + CH Throttle combo, and they cost the same (in some cases, x55 is cheaper than the combo. And you can use the x55 throttle and joystick independent of each other just the same as T16000M + CH Throttle setup).

How do you liike the x52? was it worth the price tag? I really like the logitech joystick but i could definitely see myself enjoying a stick like that, so i could connect to my tv and game on the couch instead... :)

Keyboard commands

What am I missing here. I spent some time setting up my x52 pro according to the keyboard commands in the manual, get into the game and I have miss set them. I get into the game and deploy hardpoints,no the keyboard commands say it's enter, the game says press U, landing gear says insert I think, "looks like an apple layout" L is for lights. Wrong L is for landing gear and insert does god knows what.
The x52 preset is not bad, but not the way I would go. I know I know, old retired people shouldn't play games:) any help pointing me in the right direction appreciated.

Got these for my controls. :D :D
Hope this gives you an idea!

Buttons for combat are all on the throttle and joystick (eg: weapons selection, target selection/cycling , chaff, heatsink, speed + movement control, flight-assist off, etc).

Buttons for general stuff are on the Keypad (eg: macro for request docking to station, Galaxy map, open these panels: left, right, radar, comms)

Mouse is for space-station menu.

From left to right ...

Throttle: CH Products Pro Throttle USB
Keypad: Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n52te F8GFPC200
* Joystick: Thrustmaster T.16000M
Mouse: SteelSeries Rival

Will get in future:
Headmounted motion-sensing device so that I can looking around the ship's cockpit hands-free.

* The T.16000M joystick is secured to the desk with velcro from Daiso.

Hahaha that's too funny Draktok! I never thought about binding throttle to that peddle thingy! What do you use to bind to increase weapons, systems, engine and restore?? Not sure if that's the actual names but it's where you can put energy into whichecver of those three you want.

Fair enough.

Though, honestly, with all thes eproducts, I do find I want to slap some designers around the face with a wet tissue. Button positioning is odd - the three buttons on the front of the throttle lie between where my fingers naturally fall - the hat that is on the front sits a bit too far from my index finger to be "right", though I'm getting used to it, and I won't even start on the T160000....

I do like the number of hats and buttons on the throttle though, it feels like a quality product to use, though, int he end, if the Warthog had twist, I wou;d have coughed up for it - cursing an dmoaning at the time, and then enjoying it for years after. I just don't have anywhere to put pedals, so that is not an option.

Overall, though, I'm very happy with the CH and the T160000 - though, if I really had money to burn, I'd design and bring to market my own HOTAS...

I'm using the direction pad that your thumb rests on in between those 4 buttons for the power. And yeah, using that little peddle works great for me, to be honest!

That is a super intense set up there neutral xD

Your problem is that all you have is a joystick, a lot of us went that bit further and got what is called a HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick). That to you is a joystick with a throttle lever as two separate parts.
The X52pro and X52 the favorite by the number of users, has over 30 buttons rotors and levers on it so can handle almost every command needed to play the game.

Then add to that the head tracking devices and voice command software, even tablets as well as the trusted keyboard and mouse.

The thrust left right up and down is bound to my keyboard because I can't find a way to bind that. Some people bound it where I bound the power, and use arrow keys for power, but to be perfectly honest, i have only used the thrust left and right two or three times in 6 hours of play, and only for docking :( Cargo scoop, landing gear, and deploy hardpoints I have on 3 of the 6 side buttons, with another being engage super cruise, and another being enable head turn (which i have bound to the joystick, i just click the button and i can look around with my joystick :) )

i am using this, (i used xbox pad at first) http://imgur.com/TSGqTki
The Logitech freedom 2.4
I play from my couch/settee using a coffee table in front of me and a big 47" flat tv on the wall.
My computer is away from me in the corner of the room.

So this joystick is not only a reasonable price, it is wireless, just like my xbox pad was.
It has 11 buttons, including 1 trigger and a handy one by my thumb for secondary fire.
It has twist stick for yaw, it has a throttle too.

And if i need more buttons (which i did) then with the bindings in elite i can bind buttons together for more controls.
Example, i can use button 9 on the base, so when pressed and held, i can use the hat again for another 4 commands.
I can toggle button 8, to give me either headlook, or thrusters on the same hat.

All in all a very good joystick for little money.

Yeah I know... I remember back in the days when Thrustmaster still made fighter throttles independently, their design is much better and it was good throttle.

Don't know why they stop making it...

T16000M I agree as well some of those button placement makes no sense at all.

I would say Warthog and x55 probably have the best placement that I've found so far (don't have a Warthog, but I did tested it). I guess they are probably more ergonomical then other because they are mapped base on real flight sticks (Warthog obviously modelled on A-10, and x55 obviously tries to copy Warthog :p )

Warthog if you plan to play not just Elite but also other flight combat sim games and you probably want to have a rudder pedal also since warthog doesn't have twist axis.
Otherwise, X55 should be your best choice. ( no offense but seriously, if you can afford X55, go for X55, X52 quality is kind of hit or miss... )
