X52 pro on a glass desk.
I can't get the suckers to pop off when I want to move the controller, gotta really hammer it to get them to come loose by accident.

OK, at this point, I'm curious what rudder pedals folks are using/have used. What do you use and/or recommend for rudders and why?

I use the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder, it's great in DCS. I can't use it with Elite until they fix the constant-input problem.

I had to stick a whole bunch of velcro hooks on the bottom to stop it moving around though, my carpet is pretty slidy.

The suction cups on the X52 Pro work ok, but with my desk surface they do eventually lose grip and pop off - usually at the most inconvenient time!

I might put velcro under those too.

I use CH Fighterstick and Pro Pedals, with their input combined into one virtual controller using the handy software that came with them (the only way to get ED to recognise two controllers at the moment, unfortunately)

I don't have a lot of experience with analog joysticks, these are the first "proper" flight sim peripherals I own, the only thing I can compare them to is the crappy Gravis Analog I used in the 90's and that's just no contest.

I'm very happy with them both, they may have simple looks, no frills, but they're sturdy and massive, and dead accurate. The pedals don't slide even if I try to make them, and holding the stick just feels like wielding quality. Hope CH Products is happy with my marketing speech!

I have never tried a 'twisty' stick so can't really comment on them, but using rudder pedals is the authentic way to control aircraft, pilots have been using it for a century. Should be good enough! If you plan to play flight sims I think it's the way to go.

x52pro button issue

i have just got my x52pro , everything seems to meet the default profile
but im having issues with the Engine boost button , on throttle controller B31

every time i press it , the pov01 on stick , flashies , like theres a conflict ..
but this happens outside of elite , no programs running just on desktop

also if i use elite profile edit , the b31 is not getting accepted
if i open saitek control panel , and press the b31 it dose not happen ,,,

ideas anyone ???

Yeah, I have the same problem.
Leave the joystick control panel program running, while you start Elite.
Then it Works perfectly! :)

The real solution is to unbind the clutch. Uncheck the "Enable Clutch Mode" setting in the MFD tab.

Works perfectly, no need to leave any control panel open.

thats the kiddy ,, cheers

unchecking "Enable Clutch Mode"

in siatek control panel , under MFD tab

I received mine yesterday (yay!) and it took me most of the day of tinkering to get this right.

Yes, 'Uncheck' the Enable Clutch Mode and all is well.

I must say, I'm very impressed with the X52 Pro, and the configuration options within the Alpha.

Hello gang

Yeah I picked up a 2nd hand x52 a few days ago - all is splendid!

Although... I notice the MFD doesn't really display properly. It doesn't display info on button presses, it simply has the mode info at the top (this DOES change if I switch the mode button), the middle bit which says...

'Mo

No Profile'

And the clock and date at the bottom.

It displays 'Mode 1' if the pinkie switch is pressed, and 'Left Mouse Button' if button 31 is pressed, but all other button presses fail to display on the MFD.

I have read somewhere that this problem does occasionally pop up in Windows 64bit, but I haven't yet found a solution.

It's not a biggie as practically speaking the stick seems to perform perfectly in games... however it would be nice to sort this out.

Any ideas?

Have no help for you Jamie but i have to say as a new x52 pro owner that i have the same issue as the OP - will try the fix for it later.

Overall though the x52pro and the support for it by FD is excellent! feels really great to fly with.

Anyone dithering around with a mouse and keyboard and maybe also dithering about getting a decent stick should definitely consider the x52 Pro.

Excellent! Thank you, this has been bugging me. For reference, your control panel needs to look like the below; then the button with the 'i' circled will work as 'boost'

I think some of the problems are due to the default profile not being properly purged, which is causing unexpected behaviour. The file is called SAID075C.pr0 on the X52, and I think is in System32. Perhaps just getting rid of it would do the trick (move it, don't delete it, so it should be reversible).

My solution was trying to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, which was a faff and didn't work properly. By good luck it seemed to kill the need for profiles (I don't have the SST software installed anymore), but still allowed the use of the mouse functionally on the throttle, which is all you actually need from the drivers for Elite.

At various times I've had the flashing buttons issue, the pinky trigger issue, and the 'Mo' issue! All I can say is, Saitek have really crappy drivers, and >100mb for the SST software is ridiculous. Shame, because it's a good stick otherwise.

Weird. I only have the "Latched clutch button" checkbox in my control panel.

I guess my software is obsolete?
Anyways, I'll care more about it, when the beta has been running for a while, and i buy a new gaming pc for this thing :)

Mate that is excellent, set my new X52pro up yesterday and must have msg quite a few friends on here asking about the same two problems, whilst they were all helpful the best i could get was leaving the saitak win open while playing to resolve the issues(no biggie but a little annoying)

just done what you said and worked first time, very happy, rep coming your way.

As for playing, i love it! i thought the 360 was good, this is a different game with the x52 pro smooth and much easier with all the buttons to hand. thanks again.

As someone said to me in another thread ages ago when i was asking how good the x52 Pro was and how different the experience was with it, the chap replied with "night and day"
