I have an old Saitek X45 would that still be ok for ED?

IIRC somenone just reported it working well with E: D Alpha.

EDIT: fount the thread, here's two confirmations:
Hey all, been playing almost daily since December (a lil xmas gift to myself) with mouse and keyboard and while the game is immensely fun played that way i couldn't help but feel like i was limiting myself to full control of the ship,so i went to my basement and found my old Saitek X45 and MAAAAAAAAN what a difference!!
It's almost like a whole new game with the way the craft responds and being able to dip in and out of asteroids and tail a ship for as long as i want.
Now i was curious if anyone else here was using this particular model of stick and throttle and had any suggested changes to the settings. I basically used the X52 default configuration and just changed most of the settings from there but i can't seem to get the mouse nub on the throttle to work for me.
Thanks so much for any help i get!

I am using my X-45, I always swore I would keep it for the next game. I was a bit miffed when Saitek dropped driver support for my even older X-36. I do like to get my monies worth ;)

So has anyone found an X52 (pro or not) in the last few days? The Amazon seller I tried to order one from just refunded me, presumably because they didn't really have stock. No-one else in the UK seems to have them.

I Just got a Thurstmaster t-flight yesterday from another backer for my birthday! Its been a bit of a learning curve from a 360 controller but what a difference.

I ran into the same problem today. Nobody seems to have stock. Which is irritating, because my birthday is rapidly approaching and I need to start dropping hints :D

I am guessing it is now out of production and they are now working on pumping out the X55's.

As such they are only going to get harder to come by unless you go 2nd hand.

Thanks, I ordered. I'm fully prepared for hassle, but it could be that they just have rubbish SEO and no-one else is finding them.

Edit: it seems like the sort of site done by people who like flight simming first, and running a web store second. Not the best web site, but genuine-looking. So the sort of hassle I am prepared for is their stock figures not being up to date, for example.

Drop the hints, and let *them* worry about stock levels :D
You know what people are like though. If I don't send them a precise link, I'll end up with one of these

Blashphemy! That monstrosity has a USB socket, and not the One True 9-Pin D-Sub of greatness.

Heretic!

Did you search outside Amazon? I found a local (Denmark) hardware store which had it on their web store. Unfortunately they don't ship out of the country. I think I may have been lucky as the page showed they weren't in stock at the moment but I still got it very quickly.

I suppose one could always bite the extra shipping cost and order from here: http://store.madcatz.com/brands/saitek/Saitek-X52-PRO-Flight-Control-System-for-PC.html

There might be more available soon. A guy on the SC forums spoke with Saitek who said they've experienced a sudden surge of joystick sales (I wonder why? ;)) and they were making more to be distributed. So maybe just keep an eye on the retailers.

You may want to try Box computers in Minworth, Birmingham, thats where i got my X52 Pro, and last time i checked they were showing 4 in stock.
Good luck chaps.

Yes, and Google shopping and Play.com and various other searches. I did not find Box or RC Simulations, though, I need to update my Google skills.

Madkatz UK shop redirects to Gameshark who don't have stock. The main problem with ordering from outside the EU to the UK is the extra customs duty and VAT, and worse, the shipping delay incurred by UK customs.

I did get email from Carol at rcsimulations saying that my stick will ship tomorrow (she was out of the office and missed the courier for today's shipment -- this is a family business I think) and they have 2 more in stock, if anyone else here is looking.

X52 stock is still in huge constraint. As soon as they come in, they go out again the same day.

The main distributor now says first week of February.
