X65F

It feels like if you were controlling the ship with your mind.
It only has one little quirk... You must think in russian.
Nice "Firefox" movie reference :)

Saitek released new drivers/software yesterday that help to prevent some of the more machine debilitating issues but they still need to address some of their driver issues (e.g. XHCI/USB 3.0 device tree support).

HI X52/Pro owners!

I bought an X52Pro 3 weeks and am starting to have issues.

Specifically when I throttle back (and sometimes foreward) the x/y wheels on the throttle will register movement. Since I have those set to the headlook it means suddenly to view shifts to the far left and up. :(

It's intermittent, happens reasonably often but not all the time.

Anyone seen this?

What I mean is...

A throttle you would move forward and it would stay where it's set. A joystick if you use forward/backward to control throttle would have to be held in the position constantly. If you were to let go, it would return to center.

The plan is to fly with FA off, at least in certain situations. I know some people use rudder pedals for throttle but that isn't something I'm interested in doing. Maybe somebody could show me a screen shot of the keybind screen so I could see what the options are for throttle. Maybe using something like a HAT switch with a "increase throttle 10%" and "decrease throttle 10%" option would work out ok.

My experience in the game so far is cycling FA changing the mode as needed. Currently, there is too much loss of control precision staying off permanently.
A centering joystick for throttle seems to be a least preferred controller to me given the flight characteristics I've observed.
The choice I made was to eliminate the throttle controller center altogether. My throttle controller is now full range with a button reverse toggle.
Instantly, I'm forwarding or reversing while maintaining the same throttle setting and I'm NEVER looking or feeling for the minimum center position.

When I FA off in inertial control, I also have an instant engines off button so my thruster is not countering my swivel direction.

Getting a FLY-5 next month, should be useful 'cause I've got small girly hands. I'll keep you updated if you care, I've voted on the poll for sake of comopletion.

My setup is X52pro + T16000. When I fly out of combat or killing easy NPCs, I use throttle (Don't need HOTAS, T16000 for example has a throttle), which is mapped to.. well.. throttle control from 0% to 100% (have a button mapped for reverse)... The second stick is mapped to thrusters (I have reverse forward and backward, couse it's easier for me to pull for longer time when moving forward than pushing the stick and it feels more natural to me, like pulling on main joystick moves pitch up). So when I go combat mode, I put throttle to 0%, and use thrusters.
Works for me.. you might get some ideas form that ;)

Well, you'll have plenty of buttons - about 24 in total, I think, on the bases of the sticks. There is also a throttle slider on the base of each stick, but that might get rather difficult to use in the heat of the moment, where control is absolutely crucial.

There was a project for a 3D printer and an Arduino board that would let you build your own throttle with 3dof on the translational axes, but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called - the guy has a website where you can download the schematics, if you have access to a 3D printer.

I'm using a combo of a CH Pro Throttle and a T.16000M, but I'm looking to upgrade the stick. It performs well and is really precise, but I feel it's lacking in buttons on the handle. I keep having to go "hands off" on the right to hit buttons on the base. I love my CH Throttle and I'd love to get a CH Fighterstick, but the lack of twist is stopping me from taking the plunge. Twist is sort of a must for me, as I have problems with my lower back and leg nerves and can't use pedals. Anyone know if there are any mods for the CH Fighterstick or Combatstick which add a twist function?

I've seen a mod for the CH Pro Throttle that puts the rudder under two fingers of the left hand.
The pics looked a bit brutal, but he made a good argument for ease of use.

I've got a CH Throttle and a T1600M, I use the three buttons on the throttle like shift keys for the T1600M and this works great for me. This gives me seven alternate functions for all of the T1600M buttons by holding down different combos of the throttle buttons (1, 2, 3, 1 & 2, 2 & 3, 1 & 3, 1 & 2 & 3). Elite allows combining 3 button combos for a function, so it's really easy to setup. I also use these buttons in combination with the hats on the throttle for even more :)

How can I get an unlinear sensitivty on joystick?

I'm having some problems aiming properly while using a joystick, Thrustmaster Hotas x, is there any way in game or otherwise (Couldn't find the option in the official driver software) to have the sensitivity curve adjusted? As in having it unlinear ?

There is no way to do this in the controls menu of Elite Dangerous for anything other than mouse controls. If you want to have custom curves for your joystick and the packaged joystick software does not have the functionality I would recommend checking out "Joystick Curves": http://www.xedocproject.com/joystickcurves.html
Disclaimer: I don't own it :D

It is a middleman program that reads your joystick, applies a custom curve and then spits out a virtual joystick output to the game. I have never used it personally as CH have their own curve tool but I think it's worth a shot :)

gaming mouse alternative to joystick?

Ok, so when an interdiction attempt is made i immediately grab the mouse...for its far smoother
and i can easily track the escape portal. Its a very basic logitech gaming mouse, not the G600 one.

My question is, are any of you skilled pilots using advanced gaming mouse pads for their smoother tracking instead of a joystick?

I play using a g13, a g600 gameboard and a CH combatstick (so about as advanced a kb/m setup you can have :)) and I play FAOFF all the time in combat. I can rail gun snipe from 3k out with almost 100% accuracy and find the mouse infinitely more accurate FAOFF certainly compared to a joystick (In relative mouse mode). However I do all my FAON and supercruise piloting using the joystick. I also fight CQC with the joystick as It is much less tiring on the wrist and I don't need to be accurate. Feel free to ask any questions if you want me to elaborate :D

I would whole heartedly recommend buying a g600 and g13 and a cheap joystick to play with if you want an adaptable set-up :D
