Looking for a very specific joystick

Greetings commanders,

I am looking for an upgrade to my current joystick.

I have a Cyborg Fly 9 atm, a sort of wireless Fly 5.

I like the button placement and grip on this joystick BUT i dont like the feel of the stick itself that much. (how it move's)

I am looking for a new joystick that must have these conditions:

1. Useable on my lap (doesnt have to be wireless)
2. Stick with twist for Yaw/Roll
3. Lever for throttle.

Price doesnt matter !

Been looking at the Warthog stick from Thrustmaster but sadly it doesnt have "twist"

Could i get a Saitek X-52 or X-55 set and only use the stick ? (would i then miss out on a throttle lever ?)

Thanks in advance ;)

I've used a T16000m since the launch of the game last December, it's a great stick for the price.
The Generic Joystick profile is the right one. Backing up the original files is always a good idea.

I had until recently a FLY 5, Good stick for the money but after a few years of War Thunder it was a little to beat up for ED. The lower left button on the top of the handle broke :( Went out and got an X52 and love it to bits. Not sure how you would cope with the lap thing though. I do know that FLY 5's are still available so maybe the solution is to got with what you know.

The Fly 9 joysticks arent for sale anymore.
The Fly 5 wouldnt be an upgrade :(

Can you use the stick of a X52 set on its own ?
Does the stick itself come with a throttle control to ?

Why doesnt the Warthog stick have a "twist" function !?!

Sorry for all the qeustions.......

Thrustmaster T16000M (I think it is) works fine for me - twist, integrated throttle though not in the best place, a few buttons and all in one unit. Wired not wireless but reasonable length cable.

Now a CH Fighterstick user. Seems really solid and is lovely to use. Doens't look as snazzy as the Saitek, but is great to use.

Doesn't have the yaw "twist" option, but has so many buttons that it's been dead easy to just assign a couple to yaw, and a couple of others to throttle.

The Warthog stick (and throttle) is a replica of what you find in the real life A-10 — The real one doesn't have twist on the stick, so naturally a replica wouldn't have it either.

Besides, you mentioned having it useable on your lap. That thing has a heavy metal base and wouldn't comfortable. :)

I'm going to pimp the Extreme 3D pro as well...very nice stick, and good button placement on the stick itself, although the base buttons and throttle are a bit annoying (esp. the throttle for someone like me that uses it as a side stick). I prefer my old Wingman Extreme Digital 3D though...fewer buttons, but better feel and a nicer throttle when it works. Too bad I got mine at a yard sale and its starting to get to be a pain in my ass...can't hold calibration well and the throttle sticks at about 5-10% at all times (making the use of my 0 throttle key essential during landings).

Oh, as a side question: does anyone else find that having thrust forward and backward essential mapping? Thrust backwards is particularly useful as a speedbreak in combat; and the forward/backward 'trim' is really nice for lining up with the landing pad. I find on the X-52 the mouse button button is really good for backward thrust, or speedbreak; and the Roll wheel press on the front is pretty nice for thrust forwards (those buttons aren't mapped to anything by default anyway).
Does anyone else also remap the pinkie for secondary fire? I find it makes much more sense as it then frees up the thumb for other actions during combat.

I have the thrusters setup on the Throttle Hat with Pinky used as a Modifier so when I pinky with the hat I get Forward and Backward Thrust. I use the Pinky only for a Modifier. My secondary is the C-Fire Button on the stick (Flat button next to the bottom hat).

Love my X52 Pro. Have not used it in Star Citizen as I am waiting for them to release the game so My Aurora sits. Funny you say you have SC set roll on twist. I would change that.

Thanks for all awnsers so far.

With on my lap i mean on my leg/legs.

I use a pretty hefty desktop PC connected to a 47inch TV. (4K or 1440P downscaling)
I sit on the bed while playing, thats why i look for something that i can use there.
Doesnt have to be wireless aslong as i can use it on the bed.

Is the Thrustmaster 16000M an upgrade over a Fly 9 ?
Looks like the same kind of thing tbh.

I am looking for good quality, something that will last for a long time.

CH products dont have any stick with twist or am i mistaken ?
And Cobra sticks seem to be sold out everywhere for months. (do they even twist ?)
