I had same problem, when I had assigned some axis to e.g. "pitch up" / "pitch down" separately instead of "pitch axis" in controller setup. It made flying really difficult as there was a lot of deadzone, but the deadzone setting had no effect.

Yea I'll try that, was just wondering how people have theirs set up in general as I've seen videos of people who are incredibly precise, can't do that with mine as it is. Thanks!

Plenty of play in my joystick! Wooof!

Ahh, Captain Flasheart, you will be sorely missed.

Lord Flasheart: All right men, let's do-oo-oo it! The first thing to remember is: always treat your kite
[Flashheart taps the picture of the Sopwith Camel with his cane]
Lord Flasheart: like you treat your woman!
[Flashheart whips the air with his cane]
Lieutenant George: How, how do you mean, Sir? Do you mean, do you mean take her home at weekends to meet your mother?
Lord Flasheart: No, I mean get inside her five times a day and take her to heaven and back.
Captain Blackadder: I'm beginning to see why the suffragette movement want the vote.
Lord Flasheart: Hey! Any girl who wants to chain herself to *my* railings and suffer a jet movement gets *my* vote!

Little to none in my humble non-power assisted very cheap Logic 3 Starfighter.

As someone that has played on the original Atari 2600 joysticks all the way through to the force feed back console controllers of a few years back, i was always acutely aware of how loose PC joysticks were compared to the the old 8Bits (Cheetah 125 etc) and those for the Atari ST and Amiga (Competition Pro, QUICKSHOT QS-138F etc).

So when looking for a PC stick that felt like those older types of joystick i had to test a few and the Starfighter has been good for many years. No looseness, no dead zones, just a tight and robust feel with enough buttons. It's not complicated or fancy-pants, it just works well like those older sticks i mentioned above.

I use G940 HOTAS and had to set 10% deadzone on each axis. I've never messed up another landing after that. I got used to controls and fly like crazy these days... Well, haven't flown for a while since I don't want to grind after the next wipe which most likely be soon. Without the deadzone though it's crazy. You shouldn't be having controls without deadzone. This game doesn't require precision aiming, well it does but not to a micron. A bit of deadzone will help a lot.

There is a minimal amount of travel on my X52 Pro but I have been using it for so long I don't feel it any more.

I might have got fuzzy on this one but I recall a friend of mine who would only use a MSSFFB telling me the force feedback took the slack out of the centre zone when activated. I have been told here that ED doesn't support FFB so could that be your problem ?

No deadzones on my Warthog either. It doesn't need them. My old Logitech force feedback stick always needed them because it jittered so badly.

like Rog I too have the CH Fighterstick. I have no in game deadzone setup, but in the CH Software I have just the smallest amount, otherwise it I am constantly adjusting my vertical trim for perfect level flight.

as for play, there is no slop in the stick.. you move 1.5 mm , the stick knows that you moved 1.5 mm.

Picked up a T.16000m today. Took a little getting used to (likely because I'm new, to boot), but it feels great so far. Smooth movement, a decent enough amount of buttons and sturdy construction. All for the princely sum of $25.

The only cons I have so far are:

- The hat switch is seemingly a touch too high for my thumb. I use it for lateral thrust, and while up/left/right are fine, I can miss down on the occasion. I may just need to learn to reposition my hand a bit better.

- I really need a separate throttle. Having the extra hand on the built-in throttle is a large waste of an entire hand and uncomfortable. I've resorted to using number keys on my keyboard for different thrust percentages for now, and only use the throttle on the stick for precise thrusting (oo-er). The CH Pro USB is looking a really tempting option right now, both for the throttle and extra buttons. Anyone using this in combo with the T.16000m?

- The right-hand buttons are nice in theory, but difficult to use in practice. Best only for stuff you don't use that often, and even then you might as well use keyboard shortcuts instead (if you don't have a throttle).

Overall, it's a really nice feeling joystick, and I can't wait to try it out with a separate throttle. Again, a steal at $25.

Yep I got the ch throttle pro to go with my T16000M and I love the combo.

I'm also using a little GlovePie script to enable a mode switch for navigating the side menus and a couple of voice commands.

My x52 pro arrives tomorrow (fingers crossed). Damn these things are like rocking horse manure in the UK at the moment.

Seems OTT to be using one on my laptop but my pc build is not ready. technically it's not even started as only the case has been delivered so far and the wife does not even like that. "It's mahoosive" apparently. wait till she sees the flight stick setup :D

hmm now to flog my FLY 5.

I purchased the "Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X"

Tested it out with Warthunder the plane simulator game... and all is well so far however I was wondering is there a space game I could get NOW that would be similar to Elite in controls so that I can practice a bit before it comes out?

where did you manage to find a X52 pro? .. I looked everywhere then jus took the plunge and ordered x55

Yeah, its called Elite:dangerous and you can get on the beta to play before its been released. :)

Tempting but my wallet wins this round, also I would love to play but I want to wait till it is feature complete [for the first iteration at least] I don't want to burn out on Elite before it is even out!
