The Limit Theory Thread

Me again with my usual question (call me a broken record :) )

Does he have any release dates in mind yet?

Hello again, Withnail. You're not a broken record and your question is a legitimate one.:)

Unfortunately, due to the nature and complexity of Limit Theory, Josh has had to announce a revised release date of early 2015. He was very upset that he had to do this but I think most of the members on the LT forums were expecting the announcement.

It will be worth the wait and I'm sure, in the meantime, you will find lots of thrills and adventure in Elite Dangerous.:)

This guy is so amazing. Hope he joins the Star Citizen Procedural Generation team after his game releases and is stable. CR already offered him a job but he had to turn it down because he had already started Limit Theory and was too far in it to drop it.

Hope Josh keeps doing his own thing with full control and credit, allowing him to develop his own sci-fi franchise over the years.

He has already demonstrated he dosn't need CR's money or fame to create a fine game. I am sure another crowd funded LT sequel will do very well after what he has already demonstrated.

Well he said that he wanted to work on SC but he had his own project that he has to commit to. If he hadn't started it he would be a part of CIG by now. But the more space games the better!

Sorry to pour cold water on your idea of why Josh turned down a job with Chris but that wasn't the reason, Mr.Nowak. He has high regard for Mr Roberts but don't hold your breath on waiting for him to join CIG.:)

It's unlikely that Mr Parnell will want to give up his independence as a game developer to work in a limiting environment. He values his independence far more than you imagine.

To me it seams logical. every body have game ideas. A dev would more cater to his own idea making reality then some one else. Game industry is often making someone else Idea. Or game within a franchise with lot of demands how to do it and platform demands.

I also have the opinion that this genre is complex and with a other focus or 100 of those 1001 design decision different or few very crucial ones. You make a game that can stand on it's own. Attacking people who more prefer your choices.

That why these games can stand next to each other all with there own types of gamers.

To have the same genre does not mean it is a clone it can be. It can have it strong uniek points. Setting it apart from the others.

I have total confidence in Josh finishing his project especially since that last update.

He is a complete lone programmer and if and when he joins a project I m sure he ll want to be in from the start.

So I don't reckon frontier or CIG are the right fit for him at the moment.

I don't really think that was ever an issue really. JPs' favorite game of all time is Freelancer, and CR himself is highly impressed with his work, and has actually helped him start his KS campaign from what I know. CR extended an offer to Josh so that he could work on his new project (SC), but Josh wanted to finish his own project before thinking anything else. ;)

Well almost, Dante80, but don't forget he has equal passion for Morrowind.:) He even wrote a famous (or is that infamous) farming mod for the game.;)

You will be aware that many of us from the Limit Theory forums share that passion for Freelancer and quite a few of us are also big TES fans.

We await the coming of "MorrowJosh". :D

Sorry I came in late to the thread. Has anyone here backed from the begining and playing the game right now? How is it what are your impressions? I want the gamers point of view not the dev, Im already subscrubed to LT youtube channel

I backed early on but the LT kickstarter was floating around at the same time as Elite Dangerous so I backed at a low level. I regret that now but never mind. As far as I know the only release has been the LT prototype and things have moved on so far since then that I'm not sure the prototype bears any relation to the current game format. You can do a search on youtube and there are a few fan made videos of the prototype in action but as I say the game has moved on significantly since then. Hopefully one of the higher level backers will pop by this thread and give you some more information.

There's not much to add to what you have said Philip. :) I was there on day one with a group of Elite Dangerous backers and I've probably been as close as anybody can get to Josh Parnell as a backer during the development. Your best source of hard information is the game FAQ on the Limit Theory forums, ykza5. The moderators take information directly from Josh and add it to the FAQ.;)

The LTP was very limited compared to what you are seeing now. I enjoyed the flight model used which was very smooth and natural. Very similar to Freelancer. As it was an early prototype there is no way I can say how it will compare with Limit Theory as it now is. One thing you can count on, it will be much improved.:)

I'm just letting anyone who is interested know that Josh Parnell is back from his much needed holiday and dev log entries have recommenced.:D

Did I hear a faint Hooray? *chuckle*

It's going to be his holiday snapshots!

By the sounds of it he has come back even more charged up than before. I predict an awful lot will happen in the next few months.........
