The Limit Theory Thread

I freakin' love Josh. Everything about him, even his faults. His vision for LT is amazing and yes he works far too hard. The weird thing is he is a seriously intense guy but he has the most relaxing voice! I have concerns about his workload and the ever expanding LT, I've said in the past he needs to draw a line in the sand and decide what's in the game and what isn't for his own sanity and so that he does actually reach an end goal. My only regret is not backing this at a higher level but hey ho.

The reason I respect and admire Josh is because out of most kickstarter game campaings his I think was the most honest one. The guy said "I need this ammount" and aparently he got passed that and stopped the pledging. No ofering more ship packages, no asking for more money to goals that will probably detract from the core game. Just because of that you know he will try his best to make this a great game.

Oops thread now turned into a Josh shrine:p

I respect him too, but his ambitions are too high. He is trying what FD is doing with ED but doing it somehow like DB 30 years ago - as a single person.
(I know DB even had a partner.)

I think he is a honest guy, but i simply don't think he is aware of the amount of work such a huge undertaking implies.
I said this before, i think he will not succeed in the next 2 years to deliver a game with a solid gameplay. A Beta yes, but not a finished game.

Well obviously that's your personal opinion. I'll let him know if you would like me to. He may agree with you and your views on his chances of success. Although IMO that's unlikely.:p

Yes, he has made mistakes in his development plan and freely admits that given the time again he would have approached the work in a different way. But can I suggest that you don't make any wagers on him needing two years or more to deliver a finished game. And if you do decide to make such a wager I will gladly take your money.:D

I already had a discussion about that with Josh via youtube comments. As a developer i know how he feels and how he is trying to cultivate the hype that LT fans are into right now.

There is a nice saying:
You can simplify complicated problems, but you can't simplify complexity.

It's not a matter on how intelligent he is - creating a complex game without help is simply near to impossible (due to time and testing).
Either he will have to reduce the scope of LT - and disappoint some backers - or the whole project will fail. I am sure he will address this in the next coming monthly dev reports.

Oh, I see, psyron. I hadn't realised you'd been in deep discussion with Josh on the YouTube comments section. So he actually told you he wasn't capable of delivering the game he promised within the time frame you were referring to? Are you saying that during this in-depth conversation he actually told you he was going to announce this disappointing news to the backers perhaps via the update?

I'm glad you have this empathy with Josh concerning how he feels on the basis that you too are a developer. I had no idea that developers in general had this amazing gift.

It seems I must report back to the rest of the Elder Council and deliver this withering news. I'm not sure if they will laugh or cry.:)

Not worth to be commented.

I meant it was not worth commenting extensively if someone only wants to become personal.

I was unaware that I was being personal, psyron. I'm still not sure why you would think that.

I merely enquired about this conversation you had with Josh Parnell. I was interested in this bombshell you were dropping about what you say the developer of LT was telling you. Your comments would have carried more weight if you had included some relevant quotes.

I've been acquainted with some of the contributors to this thread for a long time now. Individuals with whom I have shared opinions and ideas on the LT forums. They also contribute worthwhile comments about a range of other subjects and keep the LT membership informed about the development of ED. I won't mention names but I consider them to be brothers and sisters. Many of them were KS backers like myself on LT and ED.

I don't really know you but if you have anything you would like to share with the LT community we would be glad to welcome you (which we do with all new members) and be more than pleased to discuss any concerns you have about the game. Although we would appreciate you reading the extensive game FAQ before you "voice" such concerns.

We try very hard to be courteous to one another and I assure you we will not indulge in the sort of behaviour I have seen in the Star Citizen thread I've visited here. Which I believe has been closed yet again.:(

Oh PLEASE, stop playing that "you against us" card!

You obviously have a problem me criticizing LT like most LT fanboys have and therefore being really annoying by the way you commented my post.

We will continue discuss this in one year or so and we will see who's analysis was more accurate.
Till then - have a nice day!

What "you against us" card would that be, psyron? Now I'm beginning to have real problems with what you're saying.

I've said nothing derogatory about you or any other game. I merely invited you, albeit in a none direct way, to provide some evidence of this conversation you had with Mr Parnell. Was that too much to ask?

How exactly did I get classified as some sort of LT fanboy? I'm nearly as heavily invested in ED as I am in LT (if somewhat indirectly through the authorised book authors). I've already stated in this thread that I hold a Black SC card so where does this " you and us" come into play?

Am I expected to say nothing about your assertions because you claim to be a developer with some gift of empathy?

I even went the extra mill and cordially invited you to join in the discussion with others in this community on the LT forums. If you haven't noticed Josh Parnell doesn't post here and I've never claimed to be a font of all LT wisdom. Although I do my best to answer pertinent questions and add comments to those made by other members here.

I have no idea where I will be in a year's time but I will certainly have better things to do than say "I told you so". I suspect I will be playing LT and ED and having a great time enjoying both.:D

I also hope and wish you have a nice day, psyron. Cool or otherwise.:)

I don't follow this game but so far I know. This one man team can do this because he uses PCG everywhere. Which means quantity and be able to make a game at much larger scope. Then conventional small team.

How ever such Dev needs to be skilled in every field in developing a game.
And as a one man team the cost are very low as one salery and no office but a Room. And the needed equipment and dev tools. A home worker.
However it also means what could be deved concurrend will not be. One thing at a time. How ever there are features that require a specific skill. which makes it risky if go to far with the scope.

LT looks interesting and some of the stuff in there has a lot of promise. I'm still waiting for a playable game however. Until then, it's just an interesting project by a very talented guy. Which is not a bad thing, just not a game yet ;)

I missed the KS for this, and I'm not sure if I am being dense, but where would I start if I wanted to get involved right now?
Is there a way into this project, and where would I find it?

PS I have had a look, but cannot seem to find dummy-proof instructions on what to do.

Thanks in advance

Sadly currently you can't back or donate anymore:

Continued / Additional Funding

This question gets asked a lot. Short answer; No. There will be no more pledges or pledge upgrades. No exceptions.

There are a few reasons for this. First, I expressed my position while the campaign was still running, that I believe a crowdfunding campaign should set a deadline and stick to it. I think it's all too easy to get sucked into the "just a little more funding time" and end up continuing on for much longer than initially intended. In my opinion, it sends the wrong message. The LT funding campaign was intended to acquire funding to make the game. I did that, and I certainly acquired enough to make LT, so I'm not going to accept any more until I can offer a real product in return for your money!
Really honest stance... Hope he has the numbers right to achieve the development.

I will just have to wait until he makes it available for sale then. Perhaps allow pre-order and late beta access when it's not far off release?
