The Mamba Mambo Expedition 3004, Dec. 15th-23rd (+film competition)

Greetings Commanders!

I'm excited to share a little galactic dance that I'll be performing in the coming weeks, and would be delighted if you could join me!

Introducing the Mamba Mambo 3304! (spectators welcome, Mamba not required)

vxm9C0f.png

On Saturday the 15th of December following the launch of Patch 3.3 we'll be taking our new Mambas on the most stylish expedition ever to garnish the Elite Dangerous universe. Get your cha-cha on as we slither across many of the most beautiful Nebulae and uncover new sights yet unseen. We'll rendezvous at many of these sites... to rest, to take pictures, to dance battle! Don't forget to bring a dance partner! (music playlist below, suggestions are welcome!) We'll also need some good camera operators to capture the glorious performances in all their splendor. It might be a good idea to equip a shield on your Mamba as your dance partner might boop a toe or two.

By the end of our journey we'll no doubt have mastered our moves and touched the heart and soul of the Mamba Mambo.

Preview of the silliness that awaits:

Pace:

Aprox. Total Distance: 14350 ly
We'll be moving at a good pace, covering anywhere from 1000-3000ly per day (see above). That is probably around 45 minutes to two hours of game time per day depending on your load-out; more if you stop frequently. Don't worry if you can't make a rendezvous, there are plenty to take part in.

Roles:

We'll need:
- Dancers and Explorers!
- Dance Instructors to show and teach us your skillz!
- Photo/Videographers to capture the glory.

Ship Build:

I put together this example Mamba build here https://s.orbis.zone/10zw that will get you a good 18.5ly jump distance along with excellent fuel range. With a max G5 FSD roll you'll even get that up to 28.5ly (without experimental), and with a guardian booster somewhere around 35-40ly+ (though you'll probably need to lose the shields and upgrade the power plant). Here is a 40ly+ build with shields, but without a second tank: https://s.orbis.zone/14lg . A grade A power plant will also keep your ship cool, so keep that in mind. :)

All ships are welcome since we will certainly need spectators to witness our most awesome of moves... but only those in a Mamba will experience the true essence of Mambo.

Dancers should feel free to augment their ships with any fancy items they feel might make for a more spectacular show (chaff, flak, engine colors, lasers!).

Film Competition:

Show us your aerobatic and filmography skills!

I'll be accepting film submissions of Mambas doin' the Mambo until January 1st 3305, just PM them to me or post them as a reply to this thread. We'll have all expedition participants vote for their favorites soon thereafter. The top video will win anything from the frontier store up to a value of £5 for you and anyone who significantly contributed to your film.

There are only 3 rules:
1. Must include at least one Mamba.
2. Must be filmed at one or more of the expedition way points.
3. Must be music-themed.

You're welcome to set the tone anyway you like... here's a short example:

I recommend that your video be 1-5 minutes in length.

Mamba expedition with two Anacondas? :S
What am i missing here?

EDIT: Ah, didnt read the "all ships are welcome" part. :D

It's a lovely idea, but I will recommend you folks setup A-graded power plants in those mambas...
It's fine to have a hot dance, but overheating a dancer shortens the show.

That's a good point, thank you!
Though I think the over-heating fix did help quite a bit, I had little issues when I ran the route in the beta. Eitherway, a good PP is never a bad thing. :)

I wanted the Mamba to be an exploration ship. Let me check and see if I can do it on PC. Out in Colonia on Xbox.

Yeah, would be nice to explore in style. That said, if you max out engineering and install a guardian booster you can still get a good 45ly range or so. Just the space for internal slots is very limited. :(

As long as it can fit a Probe launcher, an srv, and a minimal Sheild, in addition to the guardian fsb, it should be good to go. Remember in 3.3, we no longer need to fit an ADS. Heck, I'm betting my rebate in that alone will almost buy me a Mamba.

Hah yeah, I'm super glad they decided to make it a built-in module and that the power consumption going up was a bug.
I was worried for a bit there.
Probes, SRV, booster and shield is doable: https://s.orbis.zone/14lg though I do like adding a second tank (stock fuel-range is pretty bad).

Nice news about the DSS weight loss...I missed that in Beta.

But with an eight ton fuel tank, KGBFOAM plotting might be important.

It'll usually be 3-4 jumps per tank depending on density which is fine if you pay attention. It's the same ratio as a Clipper (which I flew 600kly recently without issue) and a 4A scoop isn't too bad on that size of tank.

With a 5A scoop and a secondary tank you're just cruising along, no worries at all... but of course I'd rather have that 5H booster. :)
But yeah, it really isn't all that bad.
