The Menu Game

So around January logged in and jumped from KP Tauri , to Sol hadn't played in 9 + months due to no Off ship storage and the lack of exploration focus, and nothing has changed on that front

Jumping to Sol was just to keep my Third party apps updated and working by testing in game with a small trip..

On the way to Sol was interdicted, by a random nutter screaming the same old same old "HAND THOSE MARSHMALLOWS OVER" I do the same old same old, to avoid dying and dock.

Last night 6 months later I log in to Jump from Sol back to KP Tauri , third party app updating testing once again.
AND once again I'm messaged by a nutter screaming for my cargo of MARSHMALLOWS... oh its you again NPC nutter, must be boring waiting in space for 6 months, craving marshmallows :D

Interdiction's make no sense you cant see the threat coming RADAR IS USELESS as the NPC magically appear demanding your goods. NPC's apparently see your cargo with their X ray eyes since I've NEVER been scanned by a NPC first. But we all know the NPC is been magically messaged about your cargo as the mission guy cant secure their own network to stop thugs knowing where and what you'll be transporting, its all so REALIST

The static Menu Game is bad enough without the static NPC rinse repeat even with a 6 month absent it gets so very old fast...The trip back to KP Tauri took less than 10 mins testing third party apps And that 10mins was enough for me.

I spent more time sitting in the dock listening to Radio sidewinder and tweaking Voice attack than flying..

In space no-one can hear you scream, in Elite dangerous, the screaming never stops by players, wanting vast improvements to core game play mechanics

The real truth about Elite Dangerous the space sim ?, is its the Third party apps that make ED a 'game', and failures like No Man sky will most likely do it all much better in the years ahead, of providing a World you can build an interactive with, which is just so sad

The infrastructure ED was build on , was a mistake... ED should have been server side game, thus allowing very different gaming outcomes and player interaction, instead we have a static game.

Ive never liked 'instance' coffee , no mater how its dressed up, as it never taste real !

The future;
I'm currently docked (forever) knowing somewhere out in the vastness of space there's a NPC sitting forever too!, waiting to steal my cargo of marshmallows.

Making the NPC wait gives me a sense of purpose :D

PS the 'Game' looks good and sounds great , but then so does my stereo.

First off, NPC pirates go for you if you got cargo or not, they just assume you do and hope for the best. Just like a RL robber does. He assumes, by looks and behavior, that you got cash, then pulls you into an alley and demands what you got.

Second, the radar is clear to understand and shows everything you need to see in your vicinity, or at least what your range allows you to see. If you didn't get it yet, then maybe you didn't try hard enough to get it.

Third, about voice attack, dunno, never used it, don't need it, I fly, aim and shoot, sometimes I sit in the dock, smoke a cigarette on my balcony. Sometimes I even go trading a bit if needed and get interdicted. And you know what? I kill that poor and cash in his bounty as a bonus for having to bore myself to death delivering stuff to another starport.

Maybe try it without voice attack and learn to set up your controls as best and efficient as possible so you can learn how to use your ship efficiently.

Try to find something different to do than raveling aimlessly thru the bubble.

Fourth, about the infrastructure... Well, a game as big as ED couldn't run on one server alone, instancing is necessary when you got so many systems in one game. p2p is not the best decision, but it takes a bit of the data load from the main servers. If not for this system, we would end up paying a monthly fee to play since FD would have to set up a serverfarm which costs a lot of cash.

And last point, thank you so much for posting your complaints and your lifestory, I am really glad you did, we all are I bet...
Made my day so much brighter :D

Dont forget there is 2 types of the NPC pirates.
The first are ones that are scripted to interdict you and the second are random interdictions.

The first NPCs just know you have cargo they don't do it based on looks. I can fly in my combat vette with 4t of mission cargo and they will know I have it. IRL a robber wont go up to an armed soldier in full body armour and attempt to rob them.

The second is a bit different because they assume you have cargo but they still interdict you no matter what ship your flying.
