It's guild heavy and it's subscribers are leaving, is there some vital arcane knowledge I'm missing.

Yeah, 12 years of heavy development and constant expansions created a ruleset for that game that takes a set of encyclopedias to understand, and it caters just as much to the individual as the group. When CCP started going against the grain of what they've been building since 2003, people started walking, and it has nothing to do with the corps because nothing has changed about the corps.

You are ignoring 99% of the game and saying that it's failing because of the 1% you have heard about, but never experienced, and have as much of a chance of hitting the mark on what that 1% actually is as a blind man groping for a candle in the Coliseum.

That's nice of you! Let's hope your two wings leave enough room for your victims to be instanced with you so you don't end up playing with each other! Also that any victims don't know how to high wake or even - combat log! :O

Quite a few of us wanted something like this but actually in game. Nice try though!

Combat logging. Is that how you deal with your enemies then? :) As for "quite a few of you" wanting it ingame, this made me lol very much. Kind of like what we will be saying in a few months when the minor factions are named after us, and we are looking for lone wolves to skin hehe

If FD have such a problem with large player groups, why are they pushing guilds through the backdoor with minor factions? Surely Powerplay would be enough for a community dead set against ANY guilds? So I can maybe name a minor faction (call it KoS, like my guild), and then promote its expansion (like expanding my guild), and then mess with other players. To be honest, I WOULD like to control systems. I WOULD like to shoot other players who get in the way. I can do it now as well, but in the future, it appears their new mechanics will allow me and my friends to dominate even further. Hats off to FD in this regard, I look forward to it. The more research I did on these new features, the more redundant the anti-guild argument seems to get. So enough forum trash talk, tonight two wings of KoS A rated killers will go out, and do some deadheading of the roses. We will be sure to message EVERY kill, letting them know it was KoS, just so they can be reminded that guilds do, and always will, exist :)

To add, I remember CQC being the kind of things ED fans laughed at about Star Citizen. Then all of a sudden..Oh yeah wow, cool... must have been in "the vision" all along.

They are associating player groups with minor factions so those folks could have an outlet, that functions through the BSG, and is curated by themselves. Listening to their customers, without falling into the traps their competitors have. I have never associate PP with guilds or player groups. No one can complain about empire building through the BSG. All of the included activities are available and doable by the individual.

The rest of this post is just evidence of exactly why guilds are considered a toxic influence by many. It smacks of a temper tantrum. With the minor faction approach anyone will just be able to avoid your ire, and counter you in group.

Thanks for pointing that out, in my defense you have been slating ED for page after page whilst extolling the virtues of EVE.

But anyway, back to the point. You don't like EVE anymore because they ignored your demands that they remake the game in your image, so you've come to ED to demand that they do it instead.

The issue might be that what you want isn't all that popular with players or with dev's, or that you are buying the wrong games.

I buy games I know I'll enjoy then I play them for a while, then I move on, and regularly return to my favorites. I always research my purchases thoroughly, I'm a happy gamer. You should try it, you might enjoy it.

No, I don't play Eve anymore because they couldn't stop tearing everything that was good about it out, and replacing it with nonsense.

KoS ? What a dull name...

This is so true EVE's decline demonstrates perfectly that guilds have had their day. Goodbye and good riddance.

No, because guilds' day has been going for 3 decades and will continue to keep going until humans devolve into a bunch of screaming, dung-flinging apes with no recognizable society.

Edit: Oh, did I just describe the toxic atmosphere of this forum?

OOPS...

How so? Honestly, this debate aside, I would like to hear your evidence that it's "decline" is related to its use of guilds. Could it's 12 year hegemony not also be down to the same factor?

Check back through the thread for comparison stats, EVE's losing out to ED.

If you don't like the forum you can always play it in solo.

Eve was never designed to cater to a large audience. It is the niche of niche games. My statement about encyclopedias was not hyperbole, take a guess at how many gamers are willing to put even a modicum of effort into learning about a game that you can spend years just playing in one aspect of and still not know everything.

I'll go ahead and answer your next post for you before it even goes up. No. Elite: Dangerous is not intended to be a niche title either.

Sorry, I also saw your comment and would like to know how you came to that conclusion. The debate at hand aside, it sounded to a lot to me like an opinion masquerading as fact with no factual basis.
