The new Tobii eyetracker 4C is awesome

Is it affected by thick (or even thin) eyeglasses?

Would be good to have info's on this one, plus cross-eye / lazy eye probs.
Does it work ingame the same as trackir? Can you disable the tracking with a hotkey? I do this now while in station menus...

I wish i could answer all your valid quesyions, but i simply don't know.

Glasses? The demo says no problem, please ask tobii to be sure...
Damage? Its just a doublesided 3m strip. Heat it a little, use sticker remover, again contact Tobii.

Sorry i just received the gadget yesterday. Just 2 hours of setup and game time doesn't make me the expert. This guy has to work for moniez unfortunately. But i like it for what i've seen.

This looks promising and I might consider it. I have an X34a 34inch superwide monitor. The site says only up to 30" supported. I'm wondering what if any issues I might have? Also noting there is not yet support for racing games in particular Assetto Corsa. Hopefully that changes as I like to concept of no headset. I used a DK2 for a while but must admit it is gathering dust due to the low resolution.

Hm. Tempting, but almost 190,-€ for shipping to Germany, plus when i don't like it (or has probs with my eyes) i'll have to cover the return cost by myself...? Think i'll stick to TrackIR. If they'd sell it on amazon i'd test it out for sure...

nice device if you want to gently fly around or hover over planet surfaces. useless for combat.

edit: note these comments were about the original version w/o head tracking, not the 4c.

I've seen vids of an enemy ship flying outside the usual FOV, and the viewpoint changes to follow it, much like headtracking. Is this how it works? Or is it just if you look towards the edge of the screen you'll fly in that direction?

it just moves the camera around, much like a head tracker, but tracking your eyes instead.

the experience is different, though, since you only move your eyes, you just have to look.

the problem is that since gaze is erratic the movement has to be eased a lot so it kinda lags. eerie and nice sensation for flying around but, as said, a big problem if you need to pay attention to multiple areas of the screen in quick succession, i.e. combat. maybe with a lot of training you could get used to it, but i didn't see the point.

I see mileage varies per person, so by all means feel free to decide for yourselves.

I specifically wanted something for headlook, and no VR, no hat, helmet or headset attachment (People who know my medical history know why. ). I almost thought about adding a tracker thumbstick to my hotas especially for headlook. For me the Tobii 4c is the best solution for my wants. It doesn't jitter when i tilt my head (it sometimes does that), but follow what i'm actually looking at. To me, it adds to the immersion. To me, is is a great build, well executed, just works out of the box.

Looks great, especially with the eye and headtracking combination without the need for any 'wearables'. Sadly not that many games supported, so I think I will hold off for a bit.

Tried the latest software update with my EyeX. There's a new Extended View mode that's a massive improvement. Instead of directly controlling the camera with your eyes, the camera pans in relation to where you're looking on the monitor. It snaps back to center if you close your eyes, look off-screen, or look straight ahead. No more camera getting lost in some random corner of the cockpit or needing to stare at the screen corners to push the camera back to center.

Another plus is I can now leave the EyeX disabled and it turns on automatically when I start ED. It turns off when I close ED, but Infinite Screen Extension crashes. Hopefully they fix that soon.

I do not share this point of view. Many people use headtrackers in combat. The Tobii 4C is a headtracker AND an eyetracker in one. Perhaps znort would be so kind to share how he experienced this 'useless for combat' statement or is it just a persaonal assumption? Please elaborate.
