The next waypoint

Can anyone enlighten me please, With the location of the next waypoint?
The distant worlds 2 page does not seem to of updated yet..

Since I’m on the “Latecomer” list - I just used the major Waypoints listed on EDSM under ‘Expeditions’...I think I’ll work on the POIs at a leisurely pace on the return leg...

LOL - I “poked my nose out” of Polo Harbour in Open to say ‘Hi’ to any CMDRs about...luckily I had my next jump programmed and it wasn’t obscured because by the time I boosted out of Mass Lock and my FSD kicked in (several other systems had already failed!!) - my shields were offline and hull already down to 93% (so this was probably under 30 seconds from liftoff)

Not the safest of waypoints but I like it. :)

Ha! Tell me about it. Got there last night, and per my usual procedure I'd zero throttled going in to a Black Hole system...

Yeah, didn't make any difference as I still smacked into the Gas Giant exclusion zone immediately on entering. A lot will depend on where in the orbit things are but I've a feeling a lot of us are going to be getting hit with damage there.

As someone not on the DW2 roster, but hanging around the core in case I can help out with the next community goal and of course visit the new station once it appears, I decided it might be fun to go visit your next waypoint.

I was braced for a black hole. They scare me so I was ready to throttle back right away.

I was not, however, prepared for the sheer terror of what I faced upon materialising in-system.

I'm not sure 'awesomes' is the term I'd use. You peeps be careful not to arrive at a bad angle... O.O

According to EDSM, 5 ships have been destroyed in the WP6 system in the last 24 hours. 181 ships visited it during that time, so if all 13,000 participants head that way, there might be another 350 odd fatalities there.

Saying that, we don't know how many (if any) died from entering the system.

Depending on your angle entering the system and the orbits of the Black Hole, Gas Giant and White Dwarf, it is entirely possible some have dropped right into the WD exclusion zone and also in the ejecta cone.

It dropped me through the cone, but thankfully outside the exclusion zone. Still, a good rush. Watching the cone so close from the landing zone is discomforting.

Well currently, Black Holes are the most harmless thing in the galaxy...

I'm glad, yet disappointed to hear that.
I've always wanted to just fly into one to see what happens, but the only time I come across them is at a time when I'm doing something more important to spare the time or risk it.

Knowing my luck, FDev will rework them just before I take the plunge :D

Having not researched the system before going in, what I experienced was passing straight through the white dwarf, and the gas giant, then stopping in the space between those and the black hole.

So upon regaining control of the ship, I found myself staring at what is basically an invisible black hole (the only indication that it's there is the spherical star distortion and the target marker) and being flanked on both sides by the far ends of the white dwarf's plumes.

Attempting to turn around, I found that sitting behind me was what appeared to be the largest white dwarf I'd ever seen. Not only that, but the gas giant was positioned just right for it to appear completely in silhouette, which made me think it was either the black hole or a perhaps even a second black hole.

Somehow my ship wasn't already destroyed, so I calmly and very quietly angled myself straight down, then throttled away to escape.

What saved me was that the black hole was currently at it's furthest point from the white dwarf, in terms of the tight orbit it makes within the dwarf's larger circle. If the pair had been closer together, I'm sure I would have arrived well within the dwarf's exclusion zone.

Oh and p.s. - I don't know if this is just a console version thing, but the rings around the planet with the two landable moons were missing when I visited the system. There was no hint of them at all, I even flew around the planet to see if the issue was lighting of a bad angle of approach, but still had no luck finding them.

This was something observed in the beta of 3.3 on PC. Lots of rings vanished. Seemed to be something with the new, dodgy AF lighting system frontier "found" after it "dropped off the back of a lorry". You could still crash into them, but they were invisible otherwise. It's likely these issues were not all fixed yet, since most bugs reported in the beta were still there in the live version of the patch and only began to see fixes with 3.3.0.1
