Game Discussions The No Man's Sky Thread

I like this:
Code:
Fixed an issue that caused the water horizon to appear bumpy.
I hope that means that I'm no longer chasing what looks like land, but turns out I'm on a water world.

Update is next month? Nice.

Hmmm. Free nex-gen upgrade for existing users, enhanced graphics and performance, transferrable game-saves. Next-gen consoles included in crossplay. PS5 uses controller feedback and 3D audio. They even manage to keep the VR working on PS5 using backwards compatibility. Pretty cool.

These days though, it's really just what you'd expect from Hello Games. That's a testament to how far they've come since the launch.

It is indeed, but I try not to ever take that for granted. Set next to other games cough developer cough houses, HG are so far ahead it's become beyond embarrassing.

That said, I fully expect them to start charging for things eventually. And I'd have no problem with that.

If someone knows, I'd like to understand how up until 2 nights ago my frigates were generating approx $30-$50K per successful transaction of their missions.
Since 2 nights ago, I noticed the payouts have been bumped by a factor. Now getting $300-$500K per successful mission transaction, whether trading or bounty collection.
Also non-monetary payouts (mats for example) have increased a lot.
Is the milestone my rating with the various species?
Something else?

Yup, finding too much to do in this game.
Have to remember to go back and harvest, make circuit boards to sell.

These balls are some type of lifeform.
I too build little outposts when I find interesting places. Usually just power, couple batteries, and transporter for when I want to head back.
Great, I only recently started playing again and discovered the circuit board $$$ earner here

I've tried all these farming money-making schemes, but tbh, I don't find any of them very efficient at all. The plants take time to grow (sometimes hours) and the yield is barely worth the time. Also, the way the economy works in NMS, if you flood the market with a product, the price plummets... so you have diminishing returns.

Simplest way to make money (units) in the game by FAR is to simply have three S class scanner upgrades on your multitool. Will cost about 1800 nanites to get, and that can easily be achieved, especially if you scan everything & upload it. Then also give your data to the entities on the Anomaly. Just make sure they're all adjacent to each other on your inventory so you get the stacking bonus.

You can make 200-500k per creature, and 50-70k per plant. It translates to millions per planet. There's no extra effort involved, you're just flying around playing the game, but you can easily get over 100 million in a day.

I think the Halloween patch buffed the mission payouts for freighters across the board. I think it's now possible to make quite a lot, depending on how the mission goes.

I've tried all these farming money-making schemes.....

I've not tried any of the industrial farming schemes as the dread word 'grind' springs readily to mind.

As you say an augmented scanner and just playing the game seems to work. That and simply enjoying the journey and realising that 'there is no spoon'. ymmv

Thanks for the tip, works well :)

A simple "grind" to give you 200m easily.
1 x base
Storage
2 x medium refiner
oxygen
Chlorine
2 x Oxygen / 1 x Chlorine in = x 6 (?) Chlorine out. Sells for 550-680 per unit. This will give you circa 6 million credits per 9999 stack. Make 10 or 20 stacks. Take stacks to a Station, check price, if ok then sell. Then buy back the stacks (at about 100-150 per unit). Fly to another station (or teleport) and repeat. Do this a few times and you are minted.

You can do this in one play session and then not have to worry about credits again

I've never farmed for credits in NMS. I made my initial stash of cash just from the previously mentioned scanning (with S-class scanner modules) while exploring.

Also, once you have a decent little frigate fleet, sending them out on missions regularly gives you a hefty constant income with absolute minimum effort.

It's a game with neat gameplay lloops that suffers from progress gating at every nook and cranny.
That's my verdict after 24 h playtime normal mode. I doubt I'll finish, what rwally gets me is the delays and moves for opening containers, tho I rhink I might not need them anymore. Habits die hard.

I like the different activities. Good range if missions. What I hate is how they gate the bloidy base unlocks with the specialists making you go for little tasks that are well below my paygrade now. I already found and bought better gear too. They just dint cut it.
I think this is rhe curated story line I saw criticised.
Then I see some salvage coirds fir those dereluct freighters and it costs 5 m - almost all my cash reserve. WTH?

And inventory slots. OMG, I dread the day I might want to exchange freighter for another. Only found out after 20h how to unlock new character tech slots. And cargo slots.
I had to ask in steam discussion how to unlock main inventory in the first place. And I had already jumped through mutiple systems and exchanged my start ship for a damaged shuttle. Which I still use - the slots were a pain to repair bit it does good job.
Oh and it took at least 15 h to figure out how to call a ship. Turns out the starter ship wasbt gone. Still cant call both I guess.
I think I ditch the whole base stuff and go a bit space hobo again. Teleports let me go anywhere I want anyway. Moire interestes in blue tinted skies on radiated planets or so. Seeing some weird stuff.

The exocraft seem to suck hard. I just use the ship. Exocraft are super slow and there is no flyer. I can run faster and shoot on foot. Thought the hover was maybe a heli but it was big letdown. Minotaur is just no.

I've learned a good chunk of vocab. It was the part that intrigued me most. It does take inordinate amount of clicks though and I am tending to limit interactions to less because of all the delays in animation and dialogue.

Story got .me complete Artemis branch, there is Apollo still. Made my jumps toward the 1st Atlas point. Had to do without freighter - I think becccause it liacks drive upgrade. The planets I saw were quite interesting though.

I think one of those teleports may have damaged your spell check... :)

I have just 1 S update for scanning and I feel the difference. I tried stacking with Boltagun upgrades and it seemes to work. If you like scanning I see this as probably easiest money.
Going for bones is good cash too. I easily found millions in bones. And found a lot of tech upgrades on the way.
I now ccheese factory too. First the sents then the riddle which seems to hace randpm answer. By save scumming.

I pick some missions now too, but they dint reqard good. Especially not the deliveries. Antimatter was too hard to come by at start. Nexus looks like good reward sometimes. Best I found was inventory unlocks. Imagine that: inventiry is best unlock.
Cadual play never had me want credits. I just mined stuff and sold. Space asteroids is easy. And the first slots only cost 10 of thousands.
My cost were mainly wires loons for a shuttle I found. mats for fixing the damaged slots.
Most low upgrades I didnt feel much difference apart from some numbers changing. Best go for gold gear I guess. Slots are at premium in NMS. Scanner upgrade S really stood out. And convenience gear like BP refiner. Tho gear and upgrades isnt same thing.
I mostly visited PoIs and made my nuggets there. In between tech excavation, bones. And when I saw uranium I mined it like oxyen. for all that launcher juice - well i also have launch cost reduction.
Weapon is just miner and bullet blaster. Got dmg buffs for that now. Have a plasma launcher since hours but no ammo and cant be bothered to check how it's done.

I agree, which is why I Nexus-modded it to the hilt to remove all of those annoyances, and super boosted everything else. It's basically a solo game anyway, so if anyone screams cheating, I don't give a toss. Whatever makes it more fun. :)
