Wouldn't mind any of them. E4 could be an consideration though, thats the way i've been abreviating it on here for a while.

I voted for Elite IV
Apologies for not including None of the above / Other as an option,
I only thought of that after i'd created a poll (maybe an admin could add it ?).

I thought that a poll on which title was more popular might help Frontier when it came time to design the box (after looking on the Elite 25th site).

I admit "Frontier : something, something, something" might be the way it goes.
I'll laugh my socks off if the box is literally "Frontier : Something, Something, Something":D
"Frontier : May The Fourth Be With You" just came to me, but probably too close to some other space franchise !

Originally (I think) Frontier was going to be called High Frontier, but due to some reason or other it wasn't allowed. It'd be nice to go back and use that name for the new game, if they can.

I think it will need to have 'Elite' in the title somewhere though, for the same reason Infinity Ward were recommended to keep the 'Call of Duty' name in Modern Warfare 2. (IE if they dropped the name, sales were also expected to drop - crazy world that it is)

none of them.:)

surely it will be Frontier 3 or Frontier "insert new title here"?.
D'oh!

It should be something along the lines of "Elite IV: The High Frontier" or "Elite IV: The New Frontier" then. Won't affect my purchase (because as long as the game satisfies my minimal requirements outlined in "what would prevent you..." thread, I'm buying it), but may help with the enthusiasm and resulting propagation of hype - after all, if it's called "Frontier" it's a successor not only to the old Elite, but both Frontier games as well.

You bad punster, you!

Elite IV: High Frontier sounds better. It could only really be the 'new' frontier if they included another galaxy. Now there's an idea - Andromeda's our closest, maybe we could have a real Galactic Hyperdrive in the new game.

Magellanic Clouds. :p

But what I would really like to see is 3D galaxy, with three coordinates per sector, plus some reasonable alternatives to scrolling through it - like searching by system's name and ability to type the coords directly.

Still doesn't feel right. They may be better of thinking of a completely new name, and putting frontier at
the top with Braben name and Elite at the bottom. That way they still have a connection to the older
games

I must admit, I still like - Elite. (like the new Star Trek film). Does it need to be a sequel, can it not just be the same game (with more features) - or dare I say it - a re-boot.

They should start with remaking Frontier/FFE with modern technology and go from there adding detail, more equipment, weapons and customization, diverse missions, more stations, bases and other objects, more known systems, better generated galaxy, galactic backdrops generated on hyperspace entry, more types of objects, procedurally generated landscapes of various types, etc.

There is some merit in this clean approach... it has been so long since the previous incarnations that new players on PC, PS3, XBox or whatever might think that they have missed 1, 2 & 3 so why start playing a game in its 4th remake, afterall by the time most games get to their 4th makeover they are rubbish.

To be even more retro I would stick with the orginal Acornsoft artwork of a Cobra approaching a space station, I always thought that was the best artwork of all the versions...
