Elite IV Development Diary/Blog ?
I've noticed that some games developers have these diaries/blogs as they are building their games. Because there is so much interest in Elite 4 I would think that having some sort of development diary or blog would be a great idea to keep people up to date on progress and other things. Even a sticky that is regularly updated could be placed in this particular part of a forum ( I'm actually wondering why the Elite 4 FAQ isn't posted as a sticky on here ) ?
Not only would any of these methods reduce the amount of similar questions asking about the games development status here amongst other things it could generate more interest in the game for first time visitors to the frontier web site. It wouldn't have to give too much away of course but I for one would be very interested in following the game's development as it progresses. Just small bits of info like what features are being successfully implemented, ones that have been binned etc or even some screenshots here and there or a small video on occasion. Time is obviously a factor in maintaining a diary/blog/sticky so no-one expects an essay or anything. I realise that frontier may want to keep development completely tight lipped until release though but it's worth asking I suppose. I think everyone understands that frontier can't promise that certain ideas will make it to release and risk disappointment but other developers seemed to have managed well with their blogs. Maybe only posting about things that have been implemented and tested out would be wise in this case then.

I think it would need to be something weekly, or fortnightly or something regular; even if it was just one line like "Still having issues with planetary modelling. Looks like we'll have to abandon the Glyndo system"

And you base this statement on what? Did you stop to consider that all the people working hard on games like the Outsider might find that someone calling everything that they do vapourware might be more than a little insulting?
Was there actually a point to starting this thread other than venting? Personally I think this thread could quite happily live with being deleted.

Totally agree, It would create a huge amount of interest from people waiting for the next installment.
A similar post mentioned about having a sticky announcement on the forum to reduce the amount of posts asking for information, but this would not only give the people waiting much more information on where the developers are at but create further discussion on whats actually being implimented instead of what we would like to see.
I hope that the guys at FD do consider this as it would make the wait much more bearable

Quite right Michael, Not really in the spirit of what the forums all about.
Too many forums have a negative side to them, with personal comments and the like. I would be disappointed it that was to happen here.

And I agree that insulting Mr D B or Frontier Developments or those nice people who help run this forum is not acceptable behaviour and if all of us regulars show a newbie that they can't just post insults on here then others will behave themselves.
That is just MY opinion and in no way represents the opinions of David B, Frontier Developments or the moderators or administrators of this forum.
