I honestly can't imagine anyone choosing "no"!

Thanks for everyone's replies thus far !

I'm rushing through my emails at the moment, so this is all I will coment on today. You know how reality works, nearly everyone will choose option 1 but there is always at least one person who will choose the second or third one - just to be different - because they can :) ( or maybe they do like surprises ! ). I honestly don't expect many people to choose the other options though because it's too hard to resist finding out what's going on with development - only highly disciplined, Vulcan-like people will feel otherwise :D.

Are we lynching spyderboyy?
I can bring some rope. :D

Still, I find the freedom of speech on this forum quite refreshing.
On, for example, Bethesda's forum, spyderboyy would be banned in no time. Heck, I was banned there for telling someone that stupid argument he used was stupid *facepalm*.

Sorry for going off topic again but...

:D *nips to shed to find nice long bits of wood and hammer and nails*

To be fair, it was a hell of a lot milder than what you can find on other forums on "tinternet". I think for me it was the fact it was on this forum which surprised me more than anything, not something I expected.

The fact that Michael decided not to delete the post just goes to show that freedom of speech is alive and well in the frontier universe, (just don't get caught smuggling slaves or luxury goods on here thats all!).

Over the few months I have been posting on here I have noticed a "slight" increase in the banter between us posters, which as long as it doesn't go too off topic *ahem clears throat" would in my opinion be harmless and create a sense of community. which may help us in our wait for the definate, unequivicable, guaranteed (don't let me down here David) release of Elite 4.

Well thats what I think anyway.

Spyderboyy may have made a trolling post, but let's keep that out of the rest of the forum. There shouldn't be personal attacks on any member of this forum, if a member is causing trouble then just use the report facility.

Banter is fine, but let's keep this thread at least reasonably on topic please.

Thanks

Michael

Thanks Michael,
I was one of the (probably many) here who reported Spyderboyy, and was (pleasantly) surprised you didn't delete the post.
With so little hard news, and many of us visiting the forum several times a week over a couple of years, I think it's inevitable, and rather nice, that banter has developed recently. If it's a problem, could we either (a) have an official off-topic thread or much better (b) tantalising snippets from Frontier about Elite forum to stop us wandering?
OK that's not serious, thanks for your tolerance when we stray off topic! Hey, it keeps us here, so when Elite 4 does appear on the horizon, we'll be here to spread the word.

btw love the idea of poster's names appearing. Should we rename Lave (OB) Have?

Heck, they ain't even working on Outsider I'll bet. This is all vaporware just to build hype.

Frikin' do not even announce another game until Outsider is released. Mmkay?

I am one who thinks this post was unaccepable behaviour, but (as has been said in a different thread where this post has been mentioned) we accept freedom of speech. So I thought i'd suggest for Syderboyy an alternative way he could have worded his post:

I noticed Frontier are (supposedly) working on a game called Outsider. As it seems to be taking so long, I have doubts as to wether or not the game actually exists (vapourware) and also wether Elite 4 will ever be made. I think that Frontier are just buliding up hype over nothing.

That says exactly the same but it's more polite and doesn't try to use alternative swear words.

I think the issue is that it was a baseless comment made in ignorance that was downright insulting to the developers who are doing an amazing job.

There is more than enough evidence that the graphics engine is up and running in the teaser trailers for the Outsider and as such suggesting that they have actually done nothing is just a rediculous statement. There is also overwhelming evidence that Frontier are working their collective chuffs off and producing fantastic critically acclaimed products like Lostwinds and not only releasing them but leading the industry in the manner of release.

No matter which way you reword the statement it doesn't make it any less offensive.

Well said Steve.:)

There is a thread called Not Elite Related... which I suppose serves as an outlet for off topic subjects.

BTW I did say sorry a few posts ago in this thread for going off topic

It's good that there is banter between members and that the moderators/administrators allow it.

I also love the idea of us having stations/systems/planets named after us but I have a feeling Frontier may not do it. Imagine someone who's not been on this forum buying the game then finding out that some of the places they visit are actually named after members of this forum, I think they'll cry unfair, I want a station named after me. and Frontier would be right to consider that and decide not to name stations/systems/planets after us. But I still would love to dock at O B Have station in orbit around Phobos or go to Turwhitt's Bazaar and think to myself that I know this person on the forum. If Frontier do want to name stuff after us and they can't think of something for "Alien" I'll happily give them my real name (via a private message though).

What are you saying???

Shhhussshhhhh!!:D

I really want a TJ something or other!

I think that if we did do a kind of contest with "name a star/nebula/station/whatever" as a prize then it would also be with the understanding that we would have to work together to come up with an acceptable name - or rather that Frontier can veto a name, explain why and ask the winner to try again.

I can easily think of a few names that wouldn't make it past the legal team or the filter for rude words. Localisation into other languages would also have to be considered.

NOOOOOOOOOO:eek:

I'd never win !! (There's positive thinking for you)
