I have not updated my oolite but I will be sure I have this OXP before I do as I use that item of equipment. The original had it so I think Oolite should have it.

I'm with you here.

And now it is easy to tone back down to (perceived) original power - Thargoid motherships and Anacondas should survive the blast (if undamaged).
Previously you had to make your own build of the game to achieve that, or you had to toughen aforementioned ships a lot while not forgetting OXP variants.

Yes I found Thargoids surprisingly easy to fight with Oolite just with military lasers. In my C64 days, one sight of a thargoid and it's bye bye.

Help, I can't get my Fuel-Scoops to activate when I'm Sun-Skimming.

Could this be a OXP conflict or am I doing something wrong in game.

I fly towards the sun using the Torus-Drive until it mass-locks and then I use the Witch-Space-Fuel-Injectors until I get warning that my Cabin is starting to heat up.

So, I disengage the Witch-Space-Fuel-Injectors and just continue to fly in at full speed.

I stop when my Cabin-Temperature hits 90.

Meanwhile, my Fuel-Scoops have still not activated and as I spin around to escape the heat and engage the Witch-Space-Fuel-Injectors, I barely get far before I get incinerated by the sun.

This has happened twice.

I don't think I should have to fly that close before the Fuel-Scoops start working.

What's going on with my Oolite game?

I don't think I do actually........How much do they cost.

This is on a run from Zaonce to Lave.

I'm down to 90.00 Credits after borrowing money from the Shady Black Monks and outfitting my Cobra Mark Three with a.....

Forward-Beam-Laser and a Pulse-Laser on every other side.

Witch-Space-Fuel-Injectors,

The-Special-Compass (I forget what it's called exactly.)

Extra-Energy-Units,

Identification-Scanner or Tracking-Device, (I think that's what it is.)

I think I may have brought something else, but I don't recall getting the Heat-Sheild.

Is that the standard for Vanilla Oolite or does that require a OXP?

I will check right now.....going to have another go....and avoid refuelling at the sun this time.

External heat shielding is standard kit, and costs 400 credits at a TL5 and above.

The Black Monks? Ha! You might regret that! <chuckles>

I thought I saw Heating Sheilding for nearly four times that amount......I think it was at Lave.

Also I have a Multi-Targeting-Scanner and a Advanced-Space-Compass and some other thing which I forget at this time.

I have such a poor memory for my ship's upgrades.

I also found out I never actually Pulse Lasers for Aft, Port & Starboard and found out in the middle of a run in Anarchy system.

They had a reasonable price for the food I was carrying, but I didn't make it.

I really need better shields.

There's supposed to be reward for me somewhere above Lave and it will take me a few Witch-Space trips to get there.

There also another place nearby. Where the Intergalactic-Navy are offering Amnesty, in return for doing a few special missions for them. I'm not sure if that covers my debt to the Shady-Black-Monks.

Commander, how come on most of your posts you put extra line spaces in ?

eg

I don't know, I just developed these habits when using internet forums.

I think do it, because it looks neat and clear.

Is it bad?

Is this improper?

Should it be discouraged?

Started Playing Oolite for the first time yesterday.

Crashed and burned on my first docking attempt.

Nailed it on the 2nd attempt, really looking forward to my Docking Computer.

For a virgin Jameson, docking computers should be way down the shopping list. In fact, by the time you can justifiably afford them, you should be able to dock at full-tilt on injectors. Get fuel scoops and fuel injectors first.

Fair Point :) - thanks for the tip.

I agree with Cody re docking computers but I'd go for cargo expansions first. :)

Well it can make a post harder to read. If you start a new paragraph sure but otherwise you are one of the few that does it. Perhaps try without a space on everyline. Personally I find it harder to read. :)

I wouldn't say improper or bad but just not really standard formatting. :)

Bigger cargo bay first, fuel scoops second and then weapons upgrade. Docking computers should be way down the list I'm afraid. Also if you learn to dock manually come the day your docking computer gets mangled in combat you will still be able to dock!

Spot on. My advice is identical to this. It is great to hear that playing all those years ago on the original Elite, the recommended pattern of purchases by so many people matches what mine were and indeed the same with Oolite. :)

I still play it every week. Loving it. I've expanded it with an amazing set of OXP's.
