As I've stated powerplay has no effect on that. Case and point, removal of the feature (and hence everything it offers) would not change that.

Powerplay did not introduce consensual PvP to the game as it has existed in the game from the outset - in that regard it's simply business as usual with both Powerplay 1.0 and 2.0.
Does Vanguard involve coordinated PvP or just Mebius-type PvE?

Vanguard update, as far as we know from the preview, is just an update to squadron functionality

Yep, and as long as a feature like powerplay stays that way, it will always have a big "well that was a dumb design choice" asterisk on it.

Given that the whole game is this way, it seems an unlikely choice for players who like all players of a game or game feature to be forced to play among those who would engage them in PvP.
Then powerplay doesn't sound like it's for them
And they can retort "then ED doesn't sound like it's for them".
Seeing as only a tiny fraction of players engage in PvP, making PvP a required part of PP2.0 would just end in PP2.0 being a failed and unused part of the game, like CQC is now. The Dev's are a bit smarter than that and have the figures available to make the best decisions on that front.

Its anecdotal of course but the vast majority of people who I've seen quit powerplay and get jaded with the it's state, have cited powerplay being effected by solo and pg as a major reason. I never see these players brought up, but it's always "oh everyone would quit if powerplay was required to be played in open" with 0 regard for the number of players that get driven away by it's current state.
Which only confirms the statement from my post.
Ah but you are willing to place your opinion, based on zero facts, above FDEV's based of data from the game, whether you agree to disagree is irrelevant, unless you can demonstrate that people are wrong your opinion holds the same weight as everyone else here, and that's zero. FDEV, who own the game and have access to all the data, are the ones charged with making any decisions, and they have gone a different way to your desire.
They sure have, and my opinion has been stated, and as you said, it holds as much value as yours does.
Which is why PP is so good as it is, if you want PvP you know what to do, don't want PvP you also don't have to, something for all.
