The Open v Solo v Groups thread

Wait, I can't believe it. You honestly thought Open / Group / Solo means this?

And now you want Frontier Developments to change their game to fit your expectations?

This is the new argument for Open Only, and in a way more honest than all the nonsenses about risk and "reasons" and whatnot.
i'm not rexplaining everything try reading again
Use basic probability , proportionality and the concept of risk reward then apply it to open then solo then compare

you sound like you really hate making an effort for something
My life is difficult enough, so yes, I actually like to enjoy my game time. I don't need my games to be a chore, thank you very much. That's why I choose to stay with games like ED, because I educated myself beforehand what to expect. I would never have bought it if it was open only or similar nonsene.

again i'm not alone , if i'am then that is very much fine , majority rules
Assuming one represents the majority because one is especially loud in voicing their opinion is a common fallacy.

Unlike you, who researched the game he wants to purchase?
Oopsie.

by purchasing the game you earned the right to participate in an OPEN world with all the aspects that come with the fact that it's an OPEN world
By purchasing the game each player earned the right to affect the shared galaxy from whichever mode they choose to - and don't need to play among other players to do so (unless they want to, of course).

safe to say you don't enjoy a challenge , you know ship engineering was a chore people complained about it enough and it changed now it's a breeze ( that proves games change if fans want to ) , also safe to say you watch the ending of a game before you play it to "educate your self beforehand what to expect"

never said i represent any majority just wish fdev would make a poll so we know what people want say they run it for one week and whatever majority decides the discussion will be over whoever don't like it can go play in another world if they want

you can't meet other commanders in solo : chance = 0%
Yep
you can meet other commanders in open : chance >0%
Barely
you're free to opt out of engaging with these characters but you also opt out of the rewards , we can't have it all can we now ?
Dream on... I get everything, just as everyone else does
you can play hower you wish if you want but not in other people's world
There is only a single shared galaxy, you do know this don't you?
and that's what i'm pushing for cause guess what other people's world have other people in it
No, obviously you don't...
and they consider your actions in their world an irritant how do you suggest they remove that irritant ?
Fair's fair, they are an irritant, I am an irritant, works well for me, tough luck if it doesn't work for them.
your actions still count unfortunateley even if you're in solo or blocked
Yep, and they will always do, just as any action by any other player affects others. It is what the game is about, surely you inderstand the exact implications of such?

Although, in truth, I suspect you fully understand how the game is structured, but dislike the fact that nobody is forced to play with you, or anyone else, if they choose.

And nothing wrong with it. Still bought the same game as everyone else, and am entitled to the same content.

also safe to say you watch the ending of a game before you play it to "educate your self beforehand what to expect"
Not to sure how you got that idea. Educating yourself about what kind of game to expect with ED took as much as reading the frikkin' description:

Source: https://www.frontierstore.net/elite-dangerous.html

"Experience unpredictable encounters with players from around the world in Elite Dangerous’ vast, massively multiplayer space. Experience the connected galaxy alone in Solo mode or with players across the world in Open Play"

(Emphasis by me)

After this thread is quiet for hours, I stop checking and it then explodes. Ah well.

Here is a thought, not original as it has been raised before in one form or another. If PP becomes open only, then it is likely imo that a number of CMDRs will not indulge in PP and open play, which would mean that the number of CMDRs would likely not increase sufficiently to mollify those wanting more PvP.

you don't seem to understand the concept of fairness
by other worlds i'm referring to other games duh
i understand how the game is structured , i don't want to force anyone to play with me until they're messing with my stuff and i can only watch or they take less risks and invest less effort and get the same thing as me that's not fair

Changes, for example "by purchasing this game, you confirm you've read all about the rules and will not pester us with changing them for your whims"?
you're against feedback which is a huge boon in gaming ? so many games got way better with feedback but oddly you stand against it , bizarre to say the least

Frontier have been in receipt of feedback regarding their game design choice that all players affect the mode shared galaxy for well over a decade - they know that some players don't like it, just as they know that some players like it.

If risk is calculated from probability of occurrence and severity of outcome, and as Powerplay offers zero rebuy costs after a while, it seems that any risk associated with Powerplay, in any game mode, reduces to zero over time.
in order to get to the no rebuy you have to put a lot of effort and that becomes your reward
the rebuy isn't the only risk , time is also a risk

As Powerplay rank no longer degrades with time, it's just another long service award - just as any of the Elite ranks are.

All players spend their time playing the game - how they want to play it (unless their gameplay depends on others and those others choose not to play with them). Put differently, players can't tell other players how to play the game nor force them to play it in a particular game mode.
