Does not remove nice little problem, either you have long slugfest with losing side going away in the end anyways, or need some either unwanting or gullible enough noob as target.Didn't we already move on from the ganking concept (at around page 2 of this long thread) to discuss more deeply how to promote some more interesting and legit PvP gameplay linked to BGS/powerplay etc?

Ok good, as I said I have switched from thinking that 'open only powerplay is the only solution' to 'powerplay pvp missions would work better (and provide a workable solution to longstanding problems like blocking and combat logging)'.What is being argued against are proposals that would result in the wholesale PvP-gating of pan-modal game features - features that players in all game modes experience and affect, as they have done since the features were introduced into the game.
As acknowledged previously, optional PvP missions where players on each side of the engagement choose to participate would not seem to be a problem in that regard as they would be an addition to the game rather than the removal of access to content for players in two of the three game modes.
Some question: How would your PVP missions actually work?I can assure you all that many Powerplayer's do indeed want a way for the PvP side of the game to come with less friction, wasted time and be less down to the pure chance of seeing an opponent where the map tells them that there may be enemy activity. PvP missions are the only reliable way to achieve this.
I've already made a thread on the concept, this link is in my sig (I know many people are either on mobile or have sigs disabled so can't see it):Some question: How would your PVP missions actually work?
Lets say I'm hauling some Powerplay stuff around in Open. Game does not know what destination I'm going to take unless I take some mission myself. Considering what flight times are, and how often mission board is updated it takes quite bit of luck for you to find out relevant generated mission, take it, be on target system, actually get on intercept course, interdict, try to deal with me. And this does not take account instancing algorithm and its own limitations and features.
Basically seems to me that said feature is way simpler to propose than actually implement.
It wouldn't work, who picks the system for the mission? PP is all about hitting where its least expected.I've already made a thread on the concept, this link is in my sig (I know many people are either on mobile or have sigs disabled so can't see it):
Suggestion for Powerplay 2.0 : Powerplay PvP Mission Concept ⚠ (Solves most of Elite's PvP dilemmas) ⚠
What I always appreciate is the inevitable "LOL, git gud scrub" type messages after they blow up your exploration kitted Asp with their combat fitted FdL as though their actions required any level of gitting gud.
Absolutely spot on and what the Open only brigade cannot come to terms with even after 218 pages.inevitably goes Solo/Group where he discovers the game is exactly the same as Open, only without the irritants.

Does ganking still occur in the game?
Is this thread restricted to discussions on Powerplay? Can it occur in a PP context?
Is this thread restricted to discussions on Powerplay?
Perhaps ironically that it was a question as a response to a question as a response to a question which was, in turn a response to a question....Fwiw it was a genuine question.
Hopefully all participants can see which sub-forum this thread is pinned to.Ganking, for a given definition of ganking, does exist in Open, and ofc as a moderator you can see where this thread is filed so obviously it isn't restricted to PP.
That's easy: when both sides want it to happen. Noting that this probably isn't the answer that some want. While @Robert Maynard 's thinking of an answer, under what circumstances would PvP be permitted @TiberiusDuval and @Darrack , in your opinion?
PvP is permitted in Open, I've never been against this as an ex Pvper myself, i just hate gankers and griefers who's goal is to deliberately ruin other peoples fun.under what circumstances would PvP be permitted
It's like CQC in that respect - no-one should be surprised that a player pledged to a different Power might shoot at them. Can ganking exist if both CMDRs are pledged to powers and in Open?
Not really - because it's enabled in the only game mode with an unlimited population - games in the last few decades tend to offer PvP and PvE realms.Follow up - is PvP implemented well?
In my opinion no, if both are pledged to powers its fair gameCan ganking exist if both CMDRs are pledged to powers and in Open?
No because it was never intended to be a PvP game, there is no balance and a trader/explorer has no chance against a dedicated fighter.Follow up - is PvP implemented well?
