General / Off-Topic The Pint Cost Thread

What's the cost of a pint in your neck of the woods.

I know I can easily be duped in paying £6+ in Edinburgh City Centre, but I can also get a decent burger, chips and a pint in my local student union for £6, so it's not all bad.

What is the highest price of pint in your neighbourhood, and the lowest?

What ever made you start this thread???

I'm going to upset everyone here but...

A local brewery called the Fatcat Brewery sells Fatcat bitter for £2.50 and its a great pint. :D

On average though its usually about £3-£4 for bitter and £4-£5 for lager.

In my corner of the world a pint probably runs between $6 and $8 depending on the type of beer and location.

Cheap lagers towards the $6, imports and craft beers towards the $8.

That's in Canadian funny money, so that translates to around 3-5 pounds I guess.

I should also note that some pubs don't serve what someone from the UK would call 'a proper pint', i.e. some pubs your actually getting 16 or 18 oz for your money.

I'm no longer living in the USA but I remember my university days of 1GBP a pint... Admittedly it was for something like Fosters..

Lowest beer (bitter): £1.96/pint
Lowest Lager: £2.01/pint - my tipple of choice, brewed locally

Highest beer: Not too sure but knocking on for £3/pint
Highest lager: Same as the beer

round £4.50 a pint here.... It's cheaper to get a bottle of single malt and consume it in the warmth and peace of my own home ;)

gawd I dunnoh... I rarely get out.. but i would imagine that its about £4.00

between £3-£4 a pint in a Glesga pub... obviously if you go clubbing that goes up by about £15 depending on the attractiveness of the clientelle...

Dubai, anywhere from 6 to £8 depending on how flashy the place is, not too bad considering its a Muslim country.

Believe it or not you can get a bottle of vodka for less than a quid in the under counter joints, you could also run a 2 stroke motor on it as well.

Have 8 pints in the cheap club and everyone will look like a supermodel. ;)

Highest? Well I went to a meat, cheese and real ale bar the other week. They didn't have prices on the menu. When the bill came I noticed I'd managed to spend £5.20 on one pint. I think that's the most I've ever paid anywhere. It was a very good pint to be fair. And they had table service.

Lowest? I think you can still find £1 a pint in a few places round here although you probably wouldn't actually want to go in to them.

Generally I pay around £2.50-£3.50.

In UK money, I think a pint of beer is about 2.50 sterling. But wine is only about 1 sterling / litre if you buy it from the barrel :)
That sounds extremely civilised!

Around here, it's anywhere between £2.20 - £4.00 depending on your pint of choice (Lager is inexplicably most expensive), and how many teeth are in the head of the barstaff.

About €6.50 with some variations depending on the quality of the pub and the lager :)

Oh, and those prices would be in the northern part of Sweden.

£1.00 a pint in Leeds, the best in Harrogate is £1.80 (sam smiths) I suppose the difference is that is a bad pub by Harrogate standards, and a good one by Leeds standards. Still better off in Yorkshire ;)
