South América: 4 tropical/rainforest/wetlands, one mountain
Aquatic: 2 tropical, 2 polar, 1 temperate, all Aquatic
Europe: all temperate forests except for the ibex
Twilight: all temperate forest, wombat which i guess can be found in other habitats as well and the bat which i guess counts for deserts?

And just like that we’re onto week 4!

March 7 - 9th
Category
: “Best Continental rep of a single continent”

Vote for the scenery pack that gives the best representation of a single continent, you may also consider the scenery like how relevant it is to the continent but you don’t have to :)

Europe for me. The animals are a neat representation of the continent, but what makes this this categories winner for me is the scenery. The fact that they somehow pulled of representing so many distinct corners of europe to a satisfactory amount and did so tastefully is pretty amazing.

Europe.

My rankings of the scenery packs by best animal rep of a single continent:
  • Australia: They covered the northern tropics, eastern temperate zone, and the outback with four iconic, well known species. Excellent!
  • South America: The jaguar and anteater were expected additions for the rainforests and a bit into the grasslands. The capuchin, though it isn't my favorite monkey, is certainly a popular animal in real-life zoos and a well known one from the Pirates movies. Llamas are a staple of the Andes. Good representation!
  • Europe: The fallow deer covers the eastern Mediterranean and is the more popular deer species abroad. The lynx and ibex were highly anticipated inclusions for the Alps and forests. Badgers were the least expected, but they have the largest range. The continental rep is very good, as were the species chosen. It's up there with the other two.
  • Oceania: They added something iconic from a few islands and some species from Australia. They are all temperate animals.
  • Africa: Most of the animals are arid-dwelling, but they are all from the same continent and iconic picks.
  • Conservation: It's got a grasslands, temperate/taiga, and tropical animal for Asia. Good representation!
  • Aquatic: I guess 3/5 technically live in South America. The caiman and otter are found in the tropics, and a small population of king penguins spends at least most of the year on the southernmost coast. I'm glad SA got some animals this time around.
  • Twilight: 3/5 are found in NA and have extensive ranges there. They are good species for international zoo representation of the continent, but less so for local zoos.
  • Arctic: 4/4 are found in NA, but they only cover 1 region.
  • Tropical: 2/4 from SEA.

Yeah this is tough, none of them do it perfectly, I’ll go with Europe though since its scenery really does do a good job in representing the continent.
