“Isn’t the results 3 days la- let’s not worry about dates and get to the results lol

Alright so the first category of the week was “Best Animal/Scenery Type Diversity”
and the winner of that one was:

And the second category was “Best Biome Diversity” which was such a tight race…
Conservation Pack with that "All votes" 😂

And just like that we’re onto week 4!

: “Best Continental rep of a single continent”

Vote for the scenery pack that gives the best representation of a single continent, you may also consider the scenery like how relevant it is to the continent but you don’t have to :)
I'm going to vote Europe but I think it helps that it isn't a true continent after all. It's very small and 95% of its biomes are temperate or pseudo-temperate (Mediterranean, boreal) so you can forget the species living in the tundra and steppe at the northern and eastern fringes of the continent and nobody would miss them as European representation.
I think South America pack did it slightly better considering it was a much bigger continent, or Australia being even smaller than Europe but more biome-diverse. But both missed representatives from key areas, and their scenery is not as good as the European.
Australian pieces are only one theme, I think (a good one). South America has kinda two (bamboo, and stone similar to Inca ruins). But the European pieces manage to cover the architecture of all countries of the continent's heart. You can build an Italian palazzo in Venice, slender 17th century Dutch houses, a German Christmas market, or a church with stained glass windows.

Gotta say europe like everyone else, cause lets ignore animals for a second and just look at that scenery.
Every other theme is like one or two mostly very generic themes, south america for example unspecified ruins and bamboo.
Meanwhile europe somehow manages to cover more or less every central european architectural style, making it a huge boon for german, french, benelux, italian, british, czech, austrian, swiss and even more countrys to build in.
No other scenery theme manages to be as broad yet specific as the europe theme, with only north africa coming close, BUT if we then also look at the animals both packs are strong, but the fact that one can and was for a long time more or less the only representation for the region while the other "just" backfilled some important animals makes the choice pretty clear to me

Another difference between the European and African pieces is that in Europe they get along with the animal roster. On the other side, the North African scenery (those Ancient Egypt statues...) has no link with 3 of the 4 habitat species.
But once again, this is a consequence of having a geographically broad architecture and a less diverse fauna to choose from VS a narrow scenery theme and a lot of animal species from diverse biomes.

I’ll give it to Europe again, I can’t disagree with representation that good.

South America and Africa packs have amazing animals, but scenery that doesn’t quite match.

Aquatic and Conservation don’t represent one continent.

I’m not gonna even mention Arctic.

Arctic - Considering the location of the Arctic, this one is kinda in the gray area between being a continent pack and a biome pack. All four are in North America but only three are in Eurasia.
South America - It has five big icons of the continent.
Australia - I have similar feelings about this one as South America. However, this one has animals with more of a variety of biomes.
Africa - Great representation of necessary animals from the continent, but they’re mostly focused on desert-dwelling animals, with the exception of the white rhino.
Europe - It has a good selection of popular European animals.
Oceania - This one feels like it has a nice representation of animals from the continent that also come from more varied biomes. Also, it includes surrounding islands such as New Zealand, Tasmania, and Rottnest Island, not just limited to mainland Australia.

Not considering due to the nature of the pack being focused more on biomes, conservation status, or animal behavior:
  • Aquatic
  • Conservation
  • Twilight
  • Tropical
Therefore, my vote is going to Oceania.

I'll go with Oceania--it's about equal with Europe but I think Oceania does slightly better on diversity of regions, climates, and scenery, whereas the Europe Pack is very skewed towards temperate Western Europe.

I actually think having an animal that really is iconic to a particular continent is more important than the animal variety.
Europe and Australia are close behind, but I have to give the edge to South America because of the Jaguar.

I think Kangaroo and Koala are almost sinonym with Australia. If that's your criteria i think Australia is better at that. But all three were important animals missing from base game.

Australia would have been third for me, but the dingo was frankly a subpar choice at a time when the devil, emu, wallaby, etc. were all not in the game.
