Im surprised about all those votes for South América. It has a great selection of animals and foliage is cool but the pieces are some of the weakest compared to other scenery pack.

África, Aquatic, Europe and Australia all come really close for me but i'm chosing África for this one. The plaster pieces are very useful and so are the tiles. The foliage looks great. It has super entertaining animals (meerkats, fenec Fox, penguin) and the iconic white rhino.

Australia follows closely though. All the animals are very representative of the región, the foliage is amazing and i love the building set but it is a bit more themed than the África one which could reduce it's versatility. Although some of the pieces are pretty universal when used well.

Honestly i'm constantly switching between these two haha

My Ranking of The Packs By the Combination of Pieces and Animals
  1. Conservation: I think this pack has some of the best pieces and templates. The animals chosen were some of the most requested species at the time, and they were all relevant to the theme
  2. South America: While I understand some people being upset about the lack of a capybara, they chose a great lineup of animals for this pack and scenery that is useful if not highly representative of the theme. The jaguar was kind of expected. The anteater is awesome. Capuchins and llamas are common in zoos and represent taxa that were not a part of the base game. Even the frog is pretty iconic. This is one of the few packs that I see as essential to play.
  3. Europe: The animal choices were very well done and the scenery also represents the continent very well. It's not one of my go-to's like the first two packs, but it is excellently constructed.
  4. Australia: The cassowary, koala, and red kangaroo are the top 3 I was hoping for. Even the dingo was a pretty good choice. The theme is unique, and I use it sometimes.
  5. Africa: The animals are all pretty useful, and the North African scenery is nice to have. It was great to finally get an African Rhino. I don't use this theme as much as some of the others, but it is a very good pack.
  6. Aquatic: The scenery is nice and generic. The types of animals are pretty good for the theme although I might have chosen slightly different species for the nices.
  7. Oceania: Although I'm still sad about the missing tree kangaroo, the animals represent the other islands near Australia very well. The scenery is ok, and the blueprints are amazing.
  8. Arctic: Some of the scenery pieces don't look right to me, but I like the Christmas lights. The Nordic theme is ok. I'm glad we got polar bears and caribou, and I personally love the wolves. I've included them in many zoos.
  9. Tropical: I try to appreciate the packs for what's included instead of what's not, but it's weird that this one came with so little from South America. It's nice to have a scenery set for the many SEA animals, though.
  10. Twilight: The animal choices did not include enough community favorites, and the scenery combo seemed a bit off to me. I still like this pack.

Im also a little surprised by the amount of SA votes. The animals are great but i never really took a liking to the sorta cheesey jungle scenery theme it has.

Also is the question which animals and scenery work best together or which animals and scenery combination we like the most, because that would be very different things for me

Gotta bite a bullet and say tropical on this one.
Theres alot to criticise about the pack, but taking it all at face value we got 4 amazing habitat animals that all bring something important and New to the game while looking stunning with a small ungulate für tropical africa, a non lemure madagascan animal, a gibbon with half the size and noise but way more color variants and a diving monitor which doesnt have release but current frontier reptile quality.
The foliage is excellent and desperatly needed for freshing up tropical houses and the indonesian scenery not only is beautiful and just the right level of theming to reasonably be found in a zoo while also covering stuff really hard to due with our pieces before like the ceilings or the cloth pieces.
The only thing i dont like about whats actually in the pack is the sloth, but i tend to not like exhibits anyways so that really isnt a loss.
Overall i have to say its one of the strongest pack in general completly isolated with its only "flaw" being that SA would have needed the slots more, but once we get that animal pack thats also redundant.

Really came around on this pack, really wasnt a fan of the pack on release but all i can say now is its praise as its "problems" really are not its problems but with the general representation of the game.
If wed be living in a timeline where NA was swapped with SA regarding scenery and animal packs im sure tropical would have had a much less critical reception

Last category of the scenery packs!
After this round, 4 out of the 10 scenery packs will move on.

Week 6 - Category 2
April 15th - April 17th
Category: “Best Combination of Animals & Pieces”

In this category consider everything! Foliage, pieces, animals, rocks etc. vote for the pack that has the closest to the best of all these groups!

I feel like this category should’ve been saved later on but I got no ideas for other categories so this is what we’re going with lol
South America.

Conservation for me too 🙂
It has my favorite animal from the entire game and the building pieces are so useful and they look good in any zoo. The foliage is fantastic too. I dont think it added any new rocks right? But still overal amazing DLC.

Conservation

I'm struggling to choose between Africa, Conservation, and Australia.
Africa still holds up as one of the best sets of animals in the game, and the plaster pieces are some of my favorites. The rest of the pack though? Its just alright.
Australia might just be my most used pack overall, with all of the animals being super useful for the two main regions I build in (NA and OCE), and the scenery sneaks its way into pretty much every build I do (especially the metal pieces)
Aside from the siamang, I don't find as much use out of Conservation's animals as the other two (still great picks, just not as many essentials for me personally. Though the MeggieB cheat on the horse made my brother and I giggle like schoolchildren, so I still have a soft spot for them lmao), but the pieces here are useful in any part of any zoo, anywhere. Of course, there's one thing it really excels in that I think pushes it on top...

...and that's plants lol. Conservation.
