Pretty sure PL will be instanced. Possibly from the planetary body exclusion zone that we hit when we fly too close to planets atm, we'll be able to manually instance ourselves into the atmospheres "exclusion zone" and fly down to the planets surface, at least that's how I see PL functioning. So "kind of" seamless PL![]()

My only concern with PL is in regards to seamless transition into the atmosphere. Having to drop into a nav target or somesuch whilst the assets are generated would be a serious let-down.
Perhaps Flavien should have sold the engine to someone and moved on - probably saw a bunch of dollar signs in his eyes and tried to go it alone, only to realise he'd bitten off more than he could chew.
Im interested on how they are going to generate content when a planet has several billion inhabitants!

The main danger is overexpectation. If people are expecting any civilians at all that would be too much. I am happy to see a distant city and a base you can land at and being able to land away from cities. You dont need to be able to go into the cities or see the people. Thats just overkill. I would much rather see a bit of traffic/bustle around the landing pad. If that gets the planet landings here any faster that would be fine with me.

Given the multiplayer nature of the game, it seems certain to me that the planets will be instanced. The loading screen could be, for exemple, your cockpit surrounded by flames during the atmospheric reentry. As for airless moons... You're asking too much. Shoo shoo.
