The Planetary landing and planetside missions discussion Thread

Yep, but if people cannot play together then that's the way it should be IMHO - separate stories, powers, etc. Stupid to have big player actions and influences that it is impossible to directly interact with.

If people give a damn about CGs and powerplay, then knowing that there are (hopefully) vast numbers of other players that they cannot possibly meet or interact with seems to make the open/solo discussion look like a minor inconvenience.

Nevertheless, I think that a single galaxy is the right thing. Whilst the release synchronisation issue is a biggie for now, it seems likely that over time the frequent incremental updates we have sen might change to less frequent, bigger ones. And if that happens, then crossplay might stand a chance.

I think you'll find that from an engineering standpoint, that the glass is twice as big as it needs to be. Sorry couldn't resist :D

One could also argue that the glass is absolutely full (off air and water) or completely empty as the content consists of a bunch of sub-atomic particles that probably don't have volume at all, only space between them.

Third person, otherwise, why would be buy "skins" for our pilots? Unless there is a mirror somewhere on board...

*partly in jest*

Z...
Noooooooooooooo! Vanity mirrors in the cockpit?!!!!!!!! Like in a car?
Can you imagine what will happen when there can be 2 players in the cockpit?
Someone is bound to check their makeup!:D

Throw rocks at me guys but I don't see any news here.
We have no more information than what we had in the last half a year really, since release.
Actually I think it's funny how it is possible to use the term "confirmed" on anything DB said.

The 'will be' and 'they are coming'-parts makes no difference. And I'm sure I'll not pay for any add-ons (let it be planetary landings or walk around ships) before I see ED having the following quality secured (it's only a short list which I think should have been in the game at release):
- balanced professions embedded into an organic concept
- persistency in economy and politics in the game
- persistent mission system for all levels and professions
- passenger transport

From the same article:

There are no changes planned to separate solo and online saves, and players will continue to inhabit the same shared galaxy whether they’re in solo or multiplayer—again, continuing with Braben’s contention that there’s no ‘right’ way to play.

"Planetary landings and out of seat activities will never ever be implemented since they have t talked about it for a while!! They have abandoned us!!!!"

FD: "These things are still coming."

"BOOO!!! We already knew that!"

+1 Rep .Already spotted several of those in this thread... It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Third person walking-around? First time I hear of this, I always thought it would be first person only. I'm cool with it as long as we get a choice ; I'd go third person when playing with TrackIR on monitor, and first when using the Rift :)

Why did he even go to E3 if there is nothing new at all?

Maybe to promote Planet Coaster ... FD don't just make one game!

You don't go to E3 just o show new shiny stuff (which the Xbox version is BTW) .. .You go because its the largest games conference, and Frontier are a games development company ...

I'm sorry, I thought you did already know that. My apologies.

That should shut a few people up, It's a long time since I've seen anyone from frontier mention this.

No, it works both ways.

I wouldn't expect PC to get these features first, though taking into account console patch cycles which complicate releasing content over there.

My opinion is no player base should be thrown under the bus for marketing gimmicks.

Good news all round really. I can't wait for planetary landings. I hope to be chased by a stampeding herd of giant land sharks at some point in the future.

It's too easy to be swept up in all the negativity, so I'm going to remain positive about elites future.

Yeah, but: nothing new. And it only makes a bit of a splash because FD have gone out of their way to say nothing, thus leading to all the threads on here.

And, whilst I do not like to say it, I will find an aisle to dance in when it arrives. Until then it is a another promise they have not fulfilled.

Things will arrive in due time I guess. Its like bounty hunting in an Anarchy RES. You never know what you are going to get. Maybe Frontier likes that we are speculating our brains out :p But dont get me wrong, I am also looking forward for whats next. Its like when you get a new patch and an update, you instantly want more news or info on whats coming next. A little bit of info will calm the forum down a bit, I agree on that. So we dont have to many rants and complains. Well, its hard to please everybody.
