The PlayStation Screenshots thread

I thought I'd check out the first line of defence for the possible imminent thargoid invasion...

I think we're all screwed

Made a quick trip out to Benard’s Loop to try out exploration. Traveled out through Witch Head nebula. Got there and found two water worlds that were iced over. The commander was not impressed. But once reaching the center, I was treated to some of the most colorful views I’ve seen so far.

Flew over the Witch Head on the way back. Stumbled upon the base out there completely by accident. Didn’t bother to check the database before leaving. Decided to chill for a bit near a planet to get a better view of the Witch Head up close.

Tried to go onto the California Nebula, but my jump range made plotting difficult. Decided to go to Maia instead, and then back to bubble, vowing to return for the California Nebula later. Did wind up getting all four Nebula in a row though and rounded off the trip with a goodbye shot.

Just signed up the forums. PS4 player. And this is my first post [smile]

(Stupid Orbit Lines, but still looks nice)

You can turn off the orbit lines somewhere in the right panel on your ship. first thing I did was turn them off

What is your jump range?

Great screenshots BTW.

At the time, 20-22ly. That was the main reason I went towards Benard’s Loop, close, but still an interesting POI. With the profits from the trip, I bought both a Dolphin for passenger running, and the beginnings of an AspX. Used the Dolphin’s profit generation to do most of the kitting out of the AspX (and have money left over to pay the rebuy a few times over). Now looking at engineering the AspX to see if I can get the 32ly range up over 40. Finding non depleted barnacles is somewhat slow going so far for Farseer.

Go to this system - Pleiades Sector OI-T C3-7
Planey A6
-42.7793 -21.7215

Make sure you are in SOLO and you can get up to 6 meta alloys each time

Ah thanks. Good to have an idea of what sort of jump ranges limit things. I think my DBX is on about 35ly so far and I have not done any engineering yet. I could also do to loose a little weight. And remove some modules from my DBX. BA-DUM-TISH!

I'm enjoying the DBX, and I'm hoping to stick with it instead of joining the AspX crowd like everybody else. It seems to run nice and cool, which is great for fuel scooping, and I like the view through the window plenty fine. All that said, I haven't spent any real effort into researching the other ships as explorers yet. I could be enticed by a Dolphin or one of those yachts someday..

Much as I like the AspX I have to say the DBX has a few other advantages too:

- it's a really interesting looking ship for screenshots (whereas the AspX is a bit of a pig IMHO - although I'll admit it does rock the Raider spike look)
- it's actually got a better range than the Asp now afaik
- it's easier to stop (whereas the Asp has a tendency to drift into the back wall of the station if you're coming in hot)
- it's got a smaller footprint so it's slightly easier to find a landing spot on rough terrain

It really is a fabulously looking ship, the best one in the game IMHO. It looks very 'insectoid'. And yes you are right Alec, it has 3.6 light years on the AspX now. I've not bought the AspX but I have managed to avoid the back of the station by just a hair's width many times in the DBX so I think it will be my explorer ship for a while yet!

...and as this is the screenshots thread...

Speaking of the DBX (oops, just realised this is meant to be a PS4 thread so forgive me just this once, this is PC, I'll spoiler it) here's mine on last week's Neutron scooping Buckyball race ...

Sorry ... back to the PS4 screenshots.

Landing on my first planet and taking out the SRV. Discovery is the key that unlocks the supreme awesomeness of Elite Dangerous.

Are you a Pathfinder, Commander?

If anyone is curious, the planet was extremely dull, but the experience was awesome nonetheless. I can't wait until ED expands to give us more to do on planets. It's already pretty cool to experience the whole process, but now imagine a game in which we can form bases, mine, have home planets for our crews, etc, etc.
