Raxxla is fake. There is no such thing as Raxxla. I am 99% sure. We have been lied to. The codex mentiones two things.
1) Fernweh. It is the opposite of homesick or the feeling of nostalgia. Fernweh is literally translated pain to far away. A need for the unknown. A desire to leave familiar circumstances and open up to the wide world. So Ferweh is actually homesick for a place you've never been to.

2) The Omphalos Rift. It has nothing to do with Raxxla. It just wants to point out the Omphalos Syndrom, a syndrom where people believe themselves that they divinely appointed the center of the universe. It shows its symptoms in the history of cartography as often as in ancient city planning. It happend in ancient and modern mapping, stories, religions, ... It's basicly people believing they found the centre of the universe, earth, ... It's basicly us thinking we found the location of Raxxla with some theory.

I think with those 2 things Fdev wants to make something clear. Everytime you ask Fdev about Raxxla they say something in the lines of that it lies withing the explorers instincts.
I believe they kept the Raxxla myth up to motivate us to explore and it worked. I don't think Raxxla is realy in the game. They often joke about it, act super mysterious about it, ... It doesn't exist.

Isn't that more like Wanderlust?

What's up with Tau Ceti. Avogadro Enterprise is now orbiting Tau Ceti 4 while there is a Tau Ceti 6 and 'Starty Mcstart Planet' with 'Starty McOrbital'.

(I had previously spent a reasonable amount of time trying to see if anything was near to Avogadro Enterprise with no joy)

& you spend all this time waiting for Raxxla, and 3 turn up at once...

Speaking of Spica... when looking up Spica (Virgo's brightest star) and surrounding stars and constellations, it made me wonder if that first line of the alleged toast, if it is indeed a clue, might be referring not to Cassiopeia, who would only be mother of one galaxy if we take the mythological angle... but instead referring to the Virgo constellation which contains a galaxy cluster and is also part of the Virgo Super Cluster. Hundreds of galaxies, basically. That sure would qualify as the mother of all galaxies.

There is also this asterism with Spica at its southern end, called the Great Diamond. Won't help us much narrowing it down, but if we try and assign the lines of the toast to a stellar object, Virgo as the mother of galaxies makes more sense, astronomically speaking.
This might help you out. #33

Just thinking about the comment by the CM about the "payoff has to be great" for finding Raxxla. What could that be? We can eliminate some things:
  • more credits would be meaningless (and have been for quite some time now, since they borked the economy long ago)
  • more ships would be largely meaningless, except access to alien ones perhaps?
  • access to alien technology - well we are already getting that to some extent for weapons anyways via Aegis et al, so other than new ships or fast travel wormholes or the like probably would be meaningless - is there some other in-game tech that might be beneficial?
  • access to locked sectors - this one checks a big checkbox. Particularly if Raxxla is a portal of some sort that allows travel to, say Bovomit Sector, where you can actually interact with (and not just shoot) aliens, and get access to their ships and other technologies, plus many new exploration activities/mysteries
  • access to a completely new RNG alien galaxy, perhaps as a lead-in to a new version of Elite?

Can't think of much else that would be a large meaningful payoff. Other than maybe a new option appearing on the system map to turn off Fleet Carriers?

Any other ideas? I know Jorki has been thinking about his Guardian arkship,,,

Only that it seems to me this a likely meta consequence of the storyline. Ram Tah told us there were Guardian arkships and explorers, we are told an alien artefact was found on Mars, hence aliens visited Sol and got here somehow.....did they ever leave? Is the in-game triangular PF motif proof the Guardian AI is behind the evolution of humanity? Does lavian brandy go down smoothly?

As for what happens when/if we find Raxxla? Who knows? I’m not fully convinced the CMs do! 😉

Right, enough of this jocularity, I’m off to the dentist! (Tooth broke coffee time Sunday, stem ginger cookies are dangerous things!!)

Edit: and gypsy rose jorki is predicting bad things are going to happen to the Alexandria very soon! 👽🐜👽

Good luck with the dentist!

As for predictions about what it would mean if Raxxla was unlocked... well, from a game perspective, it would probably open access to another region of the milky way, maybe to establish a new bubble of colonized world as a counter balance to the original bubble. Kinda like what happened with Colonia, just that the Raxxla bubble would be primarily used to have new narratives playing out, giving the devs a chance to experiment with new things without having to touch the already established space around Sol.

I like the idea of unlocking access to a new region of the galaxy. FD have said only one galaxy is implemented so no travel to Magellanic Clouds or Andromeda. It would make sense, if Raxxla is a guardian ship, for it to unlock the area/s where the Guardian AI and exiles went to. That would have the potential to open up new technology etc so definitely “alien riches” from the original novella and a big payoff.

Edit
And since there are several of those large locked areas the boost in gameplay would be meaningful. I have pondered why the original “10 year plan” for the game doesn't match the slow progress and amount of universe visited to date (think its now up to 0.05%?).

I think introducing a new region of major interest to every ingame faction/superpower is needed in the long run. Because I don't think they are going to touch the status quo in the bubble. Many player factions have made it their home, so having it all change drastically due to war between the superpowers and/or alien attacks, will probably not go over well with most of these factions if their home system is going up in flames. So... using something like Raxxla to unlock something outside the bubble is giving the devs a playground where they can have play out all the things not possible in the original bubble: Alliance, Feds and Empire going at each other in a full scale conflict (because if it is a fair bit away from the home systems in the bubble, they can still keep the fragile peace between them), alien and crazy AI guardian invasions, NPC factions rising up but also disappearing/wiped out, etc. And they will probably have to keep player factions out of it, so they can do all these sweeping changes without anyone losing any assets.

Narratively speaking, the game needs this to break up the stagnant situation we have right now.

I think I am 100% sure the Thargoids build Raxxla. Think about it, they mastered hyperspace and probably invented hyperdrive technology. They can jump very large distances and hover in witch-space. When they first encountered the Guardians, they needed to retreat because they weren't prepared for a big war. Don't get me wrong they had weapons and used it against defenceless Guardians, but they couldn't fight the Guardians in a militairy campaign. So maybe they weren't combat oriënted? Also it appears the stronger interceptors are older that the weaker interceptors. So they downgraded there ships? Why? Maybe they don't seek out war. I mean if you are aggressive you would bring some strong weapons at least all the time.

Thargoids are very smart creatures, yet there ships still attack anything Guardian related. Again Why? They know the Guardians are gone right? Are there even Thargoids in those Interceptors? Why else bother attacking Guardian tech. If they are drones, How can they control the drones so far out? Their behavior is like an AI (I know, I know they are NPC's but they have the same patern every time). Something to them seems... odd.

Regards any potential pay-off regards Raxxla I seriously doubt it would be anything game mechanism related, but rather it alludes to some ‘shocking’ turn of events or ‘startling’ awakening of knowledge.

I cannot believe it’s something we can obtain / use as if it’s true it’s been available since day 1; and if it were so special, why not apply it throughout the game, and make the game better - so that simple logic game rules that out in my opinion.

Any new locations would get mapped pretty quickly, so not much pay off there, but again FD might think that’s fantastic, look at Odyssey, we can’t really base our own levels of taste against FD, we’ll just end up disappointed, and of course any new location / toy, would be accessible to everyone.

I alway imagined it would be the Magellanic Clouds, which would be fun to explore, so I do like the idea of having accessibility to the locked bubbles. But again it would need to have import to all players, not just explorers.

But overall, given the fact that Raxxla has been in game since launch, apparently is out there, but we don’t know if it’s accessible, my money is it’s some big narrative reveal.

I think it ties in with the Mars relic and the Guardians, and M Brookes back tattoo / unpublished book; who knows but my suspicions are growing it’s not going to be as explosive, and any more imaginative than what we here have come up with.

It will be a narrative reveal, that I am certain, as it’s a payoff, things lead up to it, from there FD need to continue the game, so it either will be some awakening of humanity, or they are going to set the bubble on fire, strip everything back, lore wise, kill everyone off (another simple narrative ploy) and let us all either fight over the scraps or rebuild.

Or maybe the current CM simply doesn’t know, and their comments are just arbitrary. Like DB “don’t be silly” statement, potentially all very ‘defensive’.

There will be a discovery; a reckoning; a battle; and then some type of awakening, I don’t really know, don’t ask me for I was not here.

i dont think you'll even get a real narrative impact. If they were smart about it, it would be something that disappears again after being found and placed in some new random location. Where the only news story they need to talk about is some uncorroborated stories about someone finding the legendary raxxla but that it vanished before they could get close enough to it to do anything and that it's likely a hoax. They could even make it so that there is no clear screenshot or anything like that possible (and anyone who found it would have to be recording already since they wont get a second chance).

1000% that is how fdev should roll with raxxla. Maybe there is some way to stop it from disappearing? who knows...and testing requires re-finding it. The hunt continues...as does the mystery. That's the best case scenario we can hope for i think.

Ahh ya thanks. I had my hopes up for a galactic wide incursion of witchspace dwelling tentacle creatures....
Cthulhu go home!
But no, the major tharg invasion of the bubble was due for a week Thursday, but has been delayed until Odyssey console release they’ve made their peanut butter sandwiches and all their mums have made them aluminium foil underwear because they’ve heard how warm it is around here! 😉
