Gives some lovely views!Totally agree with the first part. But Raxxla's location in Ecould only exist after the gamma release in 2014. I was thinking more on the lines of an interesting coincidence. Either way, Orion nebula is pretty cool and I haven't been there anyway.

So, fair warning, I'm baacck. Sort of. Been away again for a while (you know, Euros, real life stuff, playing games that actually work, etc.). Got a lot of reading to get caught up again, but is it too soon to suggest that the thread be renamed " The Pathway to Raxxla"? I'll get my coat.

I was poking around some systems with interesting gateway like features, so I checked out Beta Muscae. Didnt find anything but I thought placing a black home more or less right in between the two jet cones of a neutron star could count as a gateway or tunnel as mentioned in the codex.

and this is when dropped in. Didnt find anything but pretty cool sight anyway. Also I think if there is some stellar phenomena acting as a gateway to somewhere, it prolly is something like that.

Alright, after a little more messing around with Neutron Stars, I ... still don't have anything But... my conclusion so far is this: out of all the potential clues given in the codex entry, the paragraph about the omphalos rift and the spiralling stars is probably the most legit. Assuming the clue is made in a way that doesn't require deep diving ancient poetry and mythology, googling omphalos will net the story about Delphi and the translation of "navel". And to that we add the fictional story of the princess and the spiralling stars which leaves us only with a princess reference and a type of star if we leave out Sydney and his poem.
And this is why I think this all refers to a system with a neutron star or several. Because looking at them in the ship HUD they spin. And the way they are depicted as a hologram is a spherical center with two arms. And that center could very well be interpreted and seen as a navel.
Now there is something else I noticed when listening to the sound a neutron makes. Not the one on system map, but the one when targeted by a FSS. I was really surprised to find that it is probably the most whispery, ethereal sound I have heard so far. Thinking of whisperer in witch/hyperspace, I always thought they prolly mean black holes. But a BH got nothing when it comes to strange whispering compared to listening to a neutron star on FSS, both when zoomed out of the NS, and when zoomed in.
So right now I am looking for neutron star systems within the Andromeda constellation, since Andromeda is the only princess up there in the sky. I only found one system so far, but didn't experience anything odd. When I query EDSM the nearest other neutron star systems all seem to be around Andromeda, and not in it. Well... I ll keep looking!

If so has anyone interrogated it for references to John Milton, Norse myth, star gates or inter dimensional portals… does it repeatedly discuss certain themes, numbers or locations?

Was going to buy it but got distracted. He had a blog about another book “The Space Inbetween” that was planned which his tattoo is based on, which looked more pertinent (Adamastor etc), but dont think it was published. http://thecultofme.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Does anyone know why the asteroid belt in Sol is in the middle of the sun? Or what happened to Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta, Hygiea or the other large bodies in the asteroid belt? Maybe a lore explanation?

Wasn't Ursa Major supposed to be a princess?
True, in one version of the myth Callisto was a daughter of King Lycaon of Arkadia, and she got transformed into the Big Dipper. Jupiter's 4th moon is also named after her. Hm... ok, so we have two princesses among the stars. I ll add the Ursa Major constellation to the list of regions where I ll look for neutron stars.
I read sun dragon (as well as the bits in the tau ceti mission web blog) - it is about energy creatures that come from tarantula nebula in the large magellanic cloud and feed off of energy from sun to reproduce (?) kind of like fish swiming up stream to lay eggs or something like that. I think the tau ceti mission was about contact with an alien race that gave information about the sun dragons... Its been a while since i read it. The Tau Ceti mission never materalized into a book though. I dont know if Sun Dragon had any Milton References off hand - but will give it a look.
Mmm, I don’t think Sun Dragon is a children's’ story from what I remember of the synopsis.
