I don't think you can just find Raxxla by exploring or scanning or by accident. I think something must be done first so you can even be able to see it, to find it.

First see several posts in this thread. Literally more than several tens of (probably >100) theories exist, none of which got confirmed.(many aren't even rejected, either.)
But all suggestions are good. What makes a suggestion better is 1)giving it (though incomplete) a reasoning, 2) suggest a way to test the hypothesis, 3) give it flavour.
Happy hunting!

well...my reason to believe Raxxla can't just be found by exploration or scanning is Omphalos Rift. You can read in Codex that Dark Wheel already looked for it and from my understanding they may have general idea where it could be but you can't get there without Omphalos Rift. My theory, find Omphalos Rift go to Dark Wheel and only then, they will point you to where to look for that Gate way that will take you to Raxxla. This makes any sense ?
I know it is not mentioned in Raxxla Codex but any of you think Soontill maybe have something to do with all of this ?

I think the Omphalos rift is on Raxxla. The active component of Raxxla, so to speak.
It’s likely that the Omphalos rift is the alien construct, that Rafe Zetter mentioned. At least they have a similar function.

There is a fair chance that we need another alien artefact to find Raxxla. Most likely, one like the Mars relic. Raxxla is described as a ghost planet and obfuscated. Finding it without the right tool could require us fly to the exact spot, without any visual or sensory indicators.

So currently playing with the idea that Sag A* isnt the "center" (or omphalos if you will) of our galaxy. If you are looking to hide a needle in a haystack - the Galactic Centre is a good place to do it.

Using the Codex Map as well as the Galactic Sectors Map... Need to come up with criteria for star types to search....
Here is where Im looking (havent decided on a "y" value yet):

What about the G2 Dust cloud which is there and the seeable center (If going by looking down on the map) seems exactly between the g2 cloud and Sag A

That is great your trying to find physical center of the galaxy and you will check it out but I don't think you will find it there. Lave System was known to be the center of the galaxy in Elite 1984, just a thought. Could you post what system or system are near by the thru center of the galaxy ?

Hasn't occured to anyone before that in order to reach the asteroid belt in Sol we need to "set the controls for the heart of the sun"? And the weirdest thing, I boosted for about 10 mins past the yellow fsd-failure barrier and didn't reach the exclusion zone. At SagA* I reached in around 2 mins. Wonder if that's a bug or a feature.

Also I can't shake the feeling that despite all the awesome Raxxla theories brainstormed here we're still waaaaay off the right path. Which in my opinion should at least have a few hints that we're getting warmer.

Anyway, it feels we have to tackle more than a saucerful of secrets here.

According to EDSM Sag A* is located at: 25.21875 / -20.90625 / 25899.96875.
Cant you just move 25.2/20 in the galmap & see whats there/close then go hunt directly?
Is there a way of showing galactic coordinates when flying??
Or am I being stupid due to slow breakfast coffee?

Because if u look at the galactic center map Sag A is on it and most definitely not at the center.

The codex map and the galactic sectors are drawn around a circle centered roughly where i pointed out. We have been told to look for an omphalos… and given maps that point to a center other than Sag A…. Seems like it could be a clue to look there…

Ya im out there now - you can get a pretty good idea of coordinates just looking at the grid in the galaxy map

Still working on my coffee too… im trying to get a distribution of the stars in the y axis and then get a center that way… instead of hoping that the y value of Sag A is the answer… seems like there are more stars in the negative in the center … so expecting it to be lower

Have you worked on the odyssey code in the loading screen? I havent played with it much… almost looks like midi music though

I have a idea but I need to know if Raxxla was introduced in to the game before or in Elite Dangerous. I played Elite II and Frontier:First Encounter and I don't remember Raxxla being in the game back then. I know Davis said, he had Raxxla idea in his head from the beginning but when was Raxxla actually introduced to the game ?

Glad you lot are still at it. I pop in from time to time to check in on the "progress."

Here's a thought. Is Salvation the story arc that unlocks the Col70 permit? And then we get answers to the original unknown artifact and then does that give us a "clue?"

Or do we think Col70 is solely thargy and unrelated to Raxxla?

It was mentioned in the 'the dark wheel' novel that was included in the og elite. Not official in game until ED.
