A personal theory of me is the following. A lot of greek mythology is inside Elite Dangerous. A lot of it however is "unintentionaly" because a lot of stars have names from greek or roman gods. Like Atlas, Zeus etc. However there are some systems that are deliberately named after mythology. For example Delphi and a system called Axis Mundi (Axis Mundi refers to the centre of some things, Omphalos Rift just saying). It also seems that they made Merope an important place for the Tharogoids. It's late and I don't remember why but I made some connection to this and the story of the Seven Sisters. (https://theconversation.com/the-wor...ers-stars-may-reach-back-100-000-years-151568). It's also a mysterious story that has been told in many ways and is in different cultures (where they tell it differently). Perhaps this is our Princess Astrophil story.

Sorry it's late and I don't have the will to go deeper into this but I just want to make a point that there is a lot of (mostly greek) mythology in the Raxxla myth and generaly in Elite Dangerous. Delphi, Omphalos Rift, ...

what is 'a tiny bit obvious'?

Well for me I have a problem with the word 'tiny'.... MB is an author and most likely scripted his answer before the interview as he knew he was going to be asked about it. When I heard him say 'a tiny bit obvious', I didn't raise an eyebrow but when I see it in the written form it bugs me as I would expect him to say "a little bit obvious" or just "a bit obvious"... probably nothing but we look for clues anywhere.... ;-)
The tiny bit obvious thing I just keep hearing the Mars relic when its mentioned, found in 2280, Raxxla first apparantly mentioned in 2296 then Mars completes a near impossible (by Elite own standards) terraforming completion date shortly before in 2291....11 years they completely terraformed the planet yet todays terraforming process takes 100+ years, the Dark wheel "had Raxxla but lost it" could refer to the people who had the Martian relic before the feds confiscated it from them, after this there was a huge push to Achenar against the feds later known to become the Empire, 9The Empire once held many Dark Wheel members...apparently)

I think I might have found the location of Raxxla. It might be in Axis Mundi. Axis Mundi is something from many mythologies, each saying Axis Mundi is the Omphalos of something. Omphalos Rift. It's a system in game with 2 stars (Princess Astrophil and the Spiraling Stars). It's not a real star, it does not exist in real life. So Fdev has specificly named that Star system Axis Mundi. It is a system with only 2 stars and one of has an exact star mass of 1. They chose to name that system that way. Now we just need to find it there.

Me and a good few more where working on this for a good while, also lead us towards the absolute true center of the galaxy which isnt Sag A, Juenae HJ-G c27-4013 is the system closest "True Centre" for those wanting to know or Stuemeae OW-A c27-6347 in proportion to Sag and is near direct center between Sag A and the G2 Dust cloud, or if we where to go by the grid reference, x,y,z the coords would be 10, -985, 25895 Juenae WZ-Y d5983 and 1 or two more circle it

No no, Axis Mundi is an actual system in game. It's close to Sol (122,91 LY). The system has 2 Binairy stars. (https://www.edsm.net/nl/system/bodies/id/23599/name/Axis+Mundi)

I know that, and by using that system as a reference point being "centre" we found the centre of the galaxy using that as a reference Juenae HJ-G c27-4013 and the others following, unfortunately nothing resides in the system itself unless a point in a direction in supercruise and go is the way we are supposed to find anything

I heard that there was a quest to follow this map or something on one of the old elites, but nobody really did it. Perhaps finding Raxxla in the old games will help us

Not sure how the system Axis Mundi refers to the center of the Galaxy ( I do like the idea though)... but it is kind of close to Achenar. Which does bring up a different axis.... Drawing a line between Achenar and Alioth ... about 3/5ths of the way there you pass by (almost between) Sirius and Earth. The axis mundi system doesnt line up with earths axis or the axis of the solar ecliptic... but the name is definitely intriguing.

Edit: the Axis Mundi system is a real system just renamed for Elite: HD 8821/ HIP 6693

WRT “A tiny bit obvious”- Has there ever been an explanation why the rare good in Shinrarta Dezhra is named Waters of Shintara? Where is Shintara? Has someone searched for it? Is this a clue of some form??

There’s an interesting read in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_mundi. It makes the link between axis mundi and omphalos. Could be “a tiny bit obvious”, could be a “rouge poisson”!

An axis mundi should align with the pole axis of a planet (usually earth :giggle:). The Axis Mundi system is in Phoenix. I don't think it aligns as a south star for any planets in Sol. There could be a moon that has that alignment though.

It's not easy to measure the exact pole axis of planets in game, but it could be worth keeping an eye on.🤷‍♂️

The reason I’ve been spending some time in Shinrarta is because it seems to be an obvious major step in the “personal journey” , and it’s where TDW is based. It occured to me that if I were to try hiding a TDW station I would hide it in permit-locked Shinrarta, in an asteroid belt. I investigated the main AA belt, all clusters. I found that when I entered the clusters I found an expanding cloud of debris; tried this several times and it happened every time, which I think reduces the probability of a mining commander in another instance causing the cloud. So is this a clue?? I mapped all the planets and belts. AB1, 2 & 3 have belts with mineral hot spots, so not good places for hiding something-there would be too much interest from miners. But AB2J has an icy ring, so less mining interest likely. Ive spent all afternoon fruitlessly flying around in SC trying to spot something in/near that ring by parallax, Ive dropped into the ring and got hull damage, Ive also dropped into a couple of Convoy USS, I spotted a couple of ships dropping out at AB2C but didnt get there before the wake disappeared....

Edit: and ranked up to full Admiral too! 🙂

The name of Ariel can be attributed to the Archangel Uriel (John Dee).

Within John Milton's Paradise Lost, Ariel was another rebel angel who fell with Lucifer; whereas Uriel was an Archangel who was 'Regent of the Sun' who directed Lucifer to Earth.

As the moon of Uranus it obviously brings up the association to the muse Urania and the Silent song of the spheres, essentially the outer rim of Milton's pendant universe?
