Disagreed (partially). Ascorbius is a good fella, and I'm more than happy to believe him that something was said. It's the exact wording that's the issue. I've seen more than enough misreporting of things where there's an actual video and everyone can see exactly what was said. Given that, I'd never take someone's version of what was said as being verbatim. Especially not with something said by Michael Brookes, who's prone to being a bit mischievous and cryptic.
Ascorbius is the only one who confirmed it on video, countless other commanders have also confirmed that Michael Brookes said this exact thing to a room full of people. At some point you really shouldn't throw that out.

Michael Brookes wasn't cryptic, he said someone was in the system, honked and left. I get that some conflated thiw rumor with the Formadine rift clue from Drew saying you can get there in a stock cobra, but Michael Brooks has been rather candid, if not selective in his wording about Raxxla.

As soon as Arf started his role as CM, he was asked about Raxxla and he replied something in the lines of "it would deserve to be actually something special there?" implying that Frontier changed how/where/what was Raxxla to some bigger "lightshow".

So, my 2cents is that Raxxla was changed, evolved and built upon due to massive interest from the player base. Then we have now locked sectors... entire galactical regions segregated... which I think Frontier will unlock and allow us to actually find it as the game's ultimate treasure hunt community event.

Flip the system.
put The Consortium back in control of their system.
This will repair the cnb.
and the process of doing this might even be enough to coax a new lead.

And then it might make the change we need to have a new lead appear.

it can't hurt to try. It could be worth the effort.

I ask, why is the cnb not of any interest yet in this thread?
What better way to hide something, than to change its form.
then everyone that scans it does not see the original form.

I can't be the only person that knows how to repair a cnb
Having a hard time believing its pure coincidence.

Raxxla was here before thargoids and guardians and for that reason it can't be found by looking at thargoid or guardian stuff.
Raxxla is DB creation and for that reason there is no way someone besides him could just change it. MB helped DB coded and hide it. I think only those 2 knows where it is, if any of Fdev would have known raxxla location they would have already leaked it or sold that information to someone like they leak so many informations to certain group. :)

p.s. when one of Fdevs says they know where it is, they mean "we know it is somewhere inside milky way" lol

Can someone please explain why this purported disclosure by MB at a closed Q&A session is still being pushed? Its just a huge time waster!

1) it was supposedly a closed session, so an NDA is implied, even if attendees didn't have to sign a legal document
2) where are the supporting statements from these other people who witnessed it?

There are two relevant points here:
1) As Rochester said, there is no documented support so it is hearsay evidence and less confidence can be placed on it than otherwise (I personally believe it is likely to be true, but that is not the point!) - Rochester is talking about how evidence is assessed, in Intelligence analysis, in Judicial courts etc. Uncorroborated hearsay has low confidence, because people mishear, misunderstand, forget.....
(For Hearsay evidence definition see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearsay; MB is not available for cross examination on this, I asked a CM to check this statement with him & MB would neither confirm nor deny it!)
2) like many (most? all?) MB “clues” it tells us ABSOLUTELY NOTHING USEFUL in the quest for Raxxla!

MB is an author and a master of his craft, he was the game Executive Producer at the time and teaser clues that actually contain no useful information is a very good marketing ploy. Without these teasers how many of us here would still be looking for something where we dont know where it is, what it is, or even why it is? (Though actually we do know a little hint of information about the why-Drew told us it was in the background alien lore document, so we know it relates to aliens within game; I hypothesise a Guardian connection).

Assume this rumoured “disclosure” is true. So someone entered the system, honked, didnt notice Raxxla and left. What does that tell us? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING USEFUL!
The system could be entered at that time- it might or might not have been permit locked, if so the pilot had the permit. Does it tell us the system can still be entered? NO! It could have been locked later by FD, that happened to a lot of systems. Does it tell us where the system is? NO! from the release date of the game some people were circumnavigating the galaxy, going on long distance exploration trips....It might be anywhere! (Though I think the codex first rumour date is suggesting it’s in/near the bubble; It could even be in Sol, the game “origin”, because the Sol permit is easily gained....)
Does it tell us anything about Raxxla itself? NO! only that it was not detected. It was early days, before the universal ship scanner was introduced, so it could have been out of range of a basic or intermediate scanner. Does it tell us what Raxxla is NO! -could be an NPC, planet, asteroid, station, installation.... anything!

MB has said it is a definite place (not text) and very difficult to find (see my FD quotes thread). So it may be that you have to be in exactly the right spot, within say 50km (apparently the in-game comet influence distance) of it for it to be detected by ship scanner. The odds against that are very high with a minimum SC speed of 30km/sec and 16 seconds between honks. If this is the case FD could even tell us where it is and we’d have a hard time finding it!
(And IMHO the Pareco system, with its six stations all orbiting a comet, is sufficiently notable for it to be an FD clue that this is the sort of detection distance used to hide Raxxla-MB did say “you have to make some of it a tiny bit obvious”, and comets are tiny!)

There is, I believe, a genuine “clue” in the codex:
“Several versions of the Raxxla story mention an alien artefact, the Omphalos Rift, described as a gateway or tunnel through which parallel universes can be accessed. These details, however, were later shown to bear a striking resemblance to the children's story Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars, and soon lost credibility. Undaunted, some Raxxla seekers insisted that the story's author had cunningly concealed facts about the mysterious locale in his book as hints for those with eyes to see.”

Now this book does not exist, so why mention it? We cannot see the text of the book since it does not exist. We do have “eyes to see” the book title, since that is given, so could the system name or some other indication be hidden in the book title? Using the Spansh systems search I looked up systems within 140ly of Sol (to fit the first rumour date “clue”, which was just before Achenar (139 ly from Sol) was colonised). I then started to check (manually) for in-game system name anagrams that can be made from the letters within “Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars”. There are a lot!!! At some point I started to include the distance from Sol and the lead faction in case that gave any indication...eventually I gave up because there are so many!

These are as far as I got (the apparently odd way some of these names are constructed suggests to me that FD did exactly this when naming them, to obfuscate the quest) :
Sol (also planets/moons Earth, Neptune, Europa, Io, Callisto, Titan, Dione, Iapetus, Rhea, Titania, Ariel, Triton, )

I did check Bethlehem Star.
Egyptian hieroglyphs = Ra means Sun-Star, xx???, La is pahlin (love, lover) = star lover.
Astrophel and the spiralling stars = Astro means Star, phel again lover, love) = star lover (spiralling stars = galaxy or maybe Circinus )
star lover(s) in galaxy for eyes to see.
star lover(s) came out to be a Bethlehem Star (yes, Star 3 kings followed). Astronomers never figured that out what star could that be, some say it was Jupiter and Saturn conjunction but some believe it was a supernova explosion that was witnessed by chines astronomers in around 100ad and that is thought to be RCW 86.
RCW 86 is known as Circinus constellation and was mapped by Chandra x-ray observatory.

p.s.Circinatus is from circinus, a pair of compasses, hence means rounded like a circle

wow... I got it now Ra = Star, Xx=Crossed, La=Lovers
Star Crossed Lovers = RaXxLa

wooohooo...I solved it.
Great! :D
As they (Michael Brookes, I think) said, they had to make it a bit obvious*. ;)

*point 2. in part "Public FD Raxxla statements" of OP, "But I think you have to make some of it a tiny little bit obvious just so people know what they're doing."

I still presume ‘tiny bit obvious’ relates historically to the older (now removed) Dark Wheel missions, which although never naming Raxxla, did heavily allude towards it, ergo a little bit obvious.

I also presume that ‘eyes to see’ is a reference to John Milton who was blind when he wrote (with assistance) Paradise Lost - one of MB favourite stories, and which heavily references the ‘music of the spheres’.

Eyes to see could also relate to Odin, who ripped out his own eye to seek / see knowledge. Odin is also referred to as a vagabond, as well as Thors Oak.

Also there is a strong relationship between John Milton, Philip and Mary Sidney on various levels.

Now of course there is also the H. P. Lovecraft references. I’m no HPL fan, but according to @Allen Stroud MB was…

What it all means we’re still trying to figure out, of course I could be wrong and it’s something else entirely… we keep searching.

Paradise Lost, I read somewhere that Adam and Eve are named as star lovers when I was researching Bethlehem Star.

Why not just ask wether this occured in a QA and ask braben or other staff. Or have we?
Ive asked Ascorbius for clarification. He responded that

It was during a closed Q&A session - I'm trying to recall whether it was Lavecon or the later ECM in Reading. It was the last Q&A Michael Brookes was at.

I'm pretty sure it was Lavecon 2017 in the Q&A. There were a load of things announced there, Crime and Punishment and the early views of AX weapons as well as Search and Rescue.
I've also just checked Michael Brookes announced he was stepping away from Elite at Lavecon 2017 so it's pretty unlikely to be the ECM Reading.

The memory is hazy given that I've been to a few Lavecons and ECMs and recollections after the fact are unreliable but I'm pretty sure it was Lavecon 2017.

But I absolutely was there when he said it, it's sad there's no footage with it being a closed Q&A, but there were a lot of people in the room.

BUT as Ive just explained, it is pointless to pursue this alleged rumour as it is NO HELP WHATSOEVER!

I think “presuming” anything with MB “clues” is dangerous. He has a sense of humour, clearly likes to misdirect, and wasnt intending to give anything away of any value.

“Tiny bit obvious” could mean obvious, i.e. right under our noses (e.g. Sol), or it could be tiny, as in it’s a SmallObject such as a comet, which strangely are not visually implemented in-game (though FD have the technology to do so) and the Pareco system seems to be intentionally designed to draw our attention to Pareco Comet 1 around which 6 research stations orbit. This makes me wonder if Pareco Comet 1 might be Raxxla and we have to be in exactly the right spot to honk and detect it (N.B. Pareco is also one of the system names that are anagrams of “Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars”!). I suspect Raxxla has a detection timeout and it might need several commanders all honking within the 16 seconds scanner recharge period for Raxxla to unveil.

“Eyes to see” could indeed refer to Milton, as he was one of MB’s favourite authors, but it could also refer to the alleged book title, and probbaly a whole load of other interpretations too. My advice is not to get hypothesis-locked by assuming specific interpretation of MB’s phrasing. I think he was very adept at selecting words that were ambiguous & told us very little.

Does the summer triangle spread out ot make the raxxla sybol. It would just need a few more of those with one of those stars being the center. Sacred geometry. 6 around 1. Or if all 3 are centers... Plus the potential for 4d and perspectives.

I was wondering about the pareco commet. 6 around 1 is the raxxla symbol technically. Can we progress factions doing the research?

You could argue you can reduce the search parameters/hypothesis? (Which has been mentioned here many times, and which are as valid as any other thought on the subject outside of DB and MB! - I think this causes some issues with people accepting it might actually be a lead as the implications might mean it no longer fits in with their thoughts? :) )

If you consider the evidence worth considering then you could :
Reduce the possible systems to one's visited and scanned before Lavecon 2017?
That assuming nothing has changed you could find the system in question with the functionality available at the time?
That it might not appear in the navigation panel, etc because of a honk?
How did FD know they had honked and left? - first to visit and sell the data? 1st level scan only?
Assume "one person" had been through the system honked and left, which suggests it's a not well visited system at the time & most likely uninhabited if near the bubble? - So Sol, Shin Rez, Old worlds, etc less likely?
Likely to have been an explorer if they were the first in the system and uninhabited.... if so perhaps a boring looking system of little value in terms of exploration data?

Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.” - Sherlock Homes”

And small correction on hearsay/alleged rumour from the link you supplied :)

"For example, to prove that Tom was in town, a witness testifies, "Susan told me that Tom was in town." Because the witness's evidence relies on an out-of-court statement that Susan made, if Susan is unavailable for cross-examination, the answer is hearsay."

You only need David for cross-examination if someone else other than Ascorbius made the claim.. he claimed he heard it and was present in the room at the time it was said... not that someone else told him it happened...There is no "Susan" as in the example above in the account just an "eye witness" (Ascorbius) as they would be called in Law :)
